I typically add a label to a clear shoe box this way: I write what I think will be in it on a 4x6 card and slip that in the end. It is easily visible, and so quick to change if needed, This is especially good if my stash of items changes so the container is not the right size. I use this method with Christmas storage and large pieces of fabric bins as well, as they often change from year to year.... I itemize the different fabrics in the bin on the label..... Love your ideas

Norrine, between you and Clutterbug I have everything I need to take away the ‘overwhelm’ that I often suffer from! Clutterbug has helped me to determine what ‘type’ I am which has helped so much. At 58 yo in May I have tried every idea I could find over the years but until I realized I crave ‘visual abundance’ because I forget what I can’t see! Your container that is subdivided made my soul happy! It is clear and just what I need! I wondered why I love the game of Tetris and now I know, rofl!! But as they stack up in the game you start feeling frenzied just the same in real life! The foundation is essential, isn’t it? I appreciate this video so much.💕🌸💕

Each time I watch one of your organizing videos like this one I refine my thinking on how to do things in the most efficient way. I have been forgetting to put the smaller containers inside the big ones! That’s why I have stacks of shoeboxes when that category could all fit into one big one without it being too heavy!! I know you always SAY that but I must not be hearing it!! Thank you, Noreen for being my fairy godmother!! Even this 80 yr old needs a sweetie like you with the best, newest, and smartest ideas! I like rice cakes which come in a long sleeve. There are two individual sealed packs of rice cakes in the durable soft-plastic outer sleeve. I found that turning down the top of the sleeve, at the opening, and putting the skein of yarn(s) I'm using for a project, in the sleeve, the yarn remains protected from everything, and THEN, I put the yarn into a cereal box, and if necessary, cut the box to the height of the skein(s). One can toss a skein into a travel work bag, so very conveniently. The boxes can be stored on a shelf like a book. Its very tidy and practical...if you like rice cakes that is! : ) I put my plastic bags to all sorts of jobs around the house. Love your channel, Noreen.

If you have die cuts, stickers, or scrapbooking stamps (those without the wooden part), remove them from their packaging and arrange them vertically in a box by theme. Make labeled dividers that fit your container to reduce the amount of time flipping through looking for what you need. Much more efficient!

Hi, Noreen. I agree with and use most of these tips. However, I look for containers that are perfectly square because the containers that are wider at the top than the bottom waste space and can be hard to shelf.
@TheCraftyOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
Very true! Sadly they are usually SO much more expensive. Since they don't nest, the prices are always higher because they can not ship as many. But you are absolutely right, that the square containers store more. Thanks for watching! :)

@@memekendall3197 i found that 6x6 pads fit in a shoe box. I turned in on its end and it takes up less space while allowing me to see what i have. Teterus is a perfect name for organizing approach. I was thinking a visual of what works well together in certain heights, certain standard drawers and what breaks down themes within large containers would be wonderful. So much good info in this video. I recently reorganized in my craft room and has trouble finding containers with straight sides. I ended up finding exactly what i needed at Daiso. I have been to a Daiso only once. Their west coast stores are mainly in California. I do think what is especially valuable about this video is even when she talks about stores/brands you might not have nearby (we are getting a Target store this year! Which will cut 150 miles off a Target trip!) she goes into some detail about what she looks for (sizing considerations, features that improve sturdiness, price, etc.).

I bought a set of 10 sterilite 6 qt. shoeboxes from Walmart for $10.22. So just a little bit more than $1 each. Their lids are grey (yawn), but I used them to organize my birds' toys and supplies which aren't immediately visible to me or anyone else. So, no biggie on the color. Btw, I experience SAD: seasonal anxiety and depression disorder. I feel that I almost literally have a craving for bright, cheery colors during the end of fall to the middle of spring. I actually love the brightly colored dollar tree storage options and have found ways to use them to add a lot of color in my apartment year round. It would be awesome if you could possibly create a video on ways to easily add bright colors to homes that can still create a neat, clean, organized look. Though I have bright colors around in each room, I don't think the rooms really mesh together cohesively, if that makes any sense. Each room just has random florescent type colors throughout. At any rate, considering many people have to deal with SAD, I thought a video (or two?) showing ways to incorporate bright colors throughout a home would be helpful to a lot of people. 🙂
@TheCraftyOrganizer3 жыл бұрын

Thanks, I’m trying to organizing my craft room and I know very well what you mean about the tote you need is always on the bottom. I just need to figure out how to do what you just suggested to where I don’t have to stack one on top of the other.

Giant ziploc style bags are also amazing for sorting kids toy sets. I use them for separating building sets especially. Dollar Tree shoeboxes suck
