As Mysterio, combined with all the Stark tech, his goal was simply to take over the planet...and manipulate everything from the shadows, while being lauded as the hero, a front to make his dreams reality. What exactly those intentions were we never got to know...and yes, they didn't really think this through when it comes to actual threats, but I guess they just assumed that after Thanos what else would threaten Earth?

@@Laesis Yeah, it was something a stressed out _NORMAL_ teenager may have done. Throughout the comics, it's made pretty clear that Peter Parker is an exceptionally clear-thinking and level-headed teenager. Yes, he still suffers the typical teen problems, but he's also demonstrably more intelligent than normal teens. But, even if Peter would make a mistake like that, I find it more unbelievable that EDITH would initiate that attack. Seriously, a massively complex AI system designed by Tony Stark would allow someone to order a drone kill strike on a teenager sitting on a bus crowded with other teens over a vague comment? Peter literally said Brad had a photo of Peter, then was clearly confused/unsure what EDITH meant when she asked if Brad was a target. Tony was so concerned with the Avengers not having a system in place to "reign them in" that he agreed to the Sokovia Accords to limit his own ability to operate as he saw fit...but we're supposed to believe he'd give Peter Parker the unilateral ability to murder people using vague comments? Or that he'd design an AI so stupid it wouldn't be able to ask for confirmation that the user was asking it to kill someone? Based on the amount of time it takes the drone to leave the satellite and reach Europe (which is also ridiculous unless the satellite is in continuous geosynchronous orbit above the glasses), EDITH could have asked for a confirmation that Peter wanted the target eliminated/killed. After Peter vaguely confirmed Brad was a "target," EDITH could have simply asked, "Please confirm the target, Brad Davis, is to be eliminated."

The thing that bothers me the most is that Jarvis back in the day was kinda self aware: he tried to reason with Tony when he wanted to fly the Mk2, he tried to reason with Ultron when it first woke up, Jarvis was sentient in a way: he had common sense of what was right and what was wrong. Jarvis was feared by Ultron, a sentient neural thing that came out of an infinity stone AND HE EVEN CANCELED OUT Ultron's "evil-centric" mind and perfectly balanced it out resulting in Vision's neutral and logical judgement. And now, 2 AI's later, we have to believe Edith, the most advanced sh*t available, can't figure out on her own that mobilizing hundreds or thousands of drones to kill off like everyone in sight, ESPECIALLY F***ING AVENGERS, SPIDERMAN&FRIENDS IS BEYOND STUPID is.. is just.. f*ck off film.

I think the biggest weakness of the film is that they seem to think his whole retinue of buddies need to be given active roles in the major conflicts. So instead of seeing Spider-Man fight alone against incredible odds to save them all, we get more like a team effort where normal people hold their own in fights between super-powered beings. His friends should be either hiding for their lives or suffering terrible consequences for involving themselves in these fights. Instead we get MJ and Ned actively assisting in the battles. Rather than uplifting them and demolishing helpless maiden tropes, the effect is to diminish Spider-Man's importance. They hardly seem to need him at all.

Because as a subgroup of the left, who dominates entertainment and the cultural narrative today, feminists hate that men are in fact attracted to warm, soft, sweet feminine women. So against every experience of reality and common sense they desperately promote the idea that what men actually are attracted to are brooding, cold, stoic, masculine women who act more like military general George Patton than a stereotypical feminine romantic interest as a balanced counterpart to the masculine hero of the story. I watched this movie on rental and knew I was going to have to hold my nose through the sjw nonsense but MJ and Peter Parker's dynamic threw me off more than anything. Through the entire movie I kept saying to myself, this kid is fun, outgoing, charismatic, and likeable, so what the fuck is he doing chasing this dead fish who's unimpressed and obviously isn't interested in him (or anything at all)? But hey, it pushes the narrative so in that respect it's a success. Feminism 1, toxic masculinity 0. Yaaaas for manly women!!

The “why are no other avengers getting involved” problem will just continue to get worse the longer the MCU carries on As you mentioned why wouldn’t you at least deploy the B team when major world cities are being attacked Also at this point you would think that there are prospective people who think they can cut the mustard to become superheroes Spider-Man is no longer a minor super hero in the films like you said he was Iron mans protege he is arguably as well known as Falcon if not Hulk and Thor. Everywhere he goes people should be wanting to show off their super skills. I kind of hate what the MCU films did to Spider-Man by making him a avenger this Peter will never be able to have the key struggles that made Spider-Man or peter a true hero. No longer will paying for aunt mays medical bills or getting rent money be a issue when he has a major muti national business behind and around him also as a avenger you would hope that at some point they will start paying members to be on the roster.

That completely took me out of the movie. Happy should have some James Bond style gadgets that Tony made for him, and its a perfect opportunity to show that know Tony is gone Happys realises hes gotta get more serious, and that his shitty brawling skills won't do it anymore, but instead of building up the real charectars in the story lets take the opportunity to let MJ smack the drone with a fucking mace.

One of the few things that was good about MCU Spidey, at least at first, was that it showed Happy from Peter's point of view, an older, serious authority figure, whereas with other adults Happy was always more the comic relief. This movie should've gone further along this route: it kind of gets it right with the talk in the plane, but it gets ruined with the drone scene you're talking about. I feel like it would have been pretty easy to change Beck's motivation from: "i want to be a superhero," to: "i want to be Iron Man" and have his character make a little more sense. Why does he insist on being a real superhero/leading the avengers when his "powers" are all fabricated? Because becoming the lead avenger (and getting close to Tony's protégé) would likely give him greater access to Tony's Iron Man tech, with which he could functionally become a superhero himself, Iron Man was just a guy in a suit after all. He could make the argument that nobody is actually using the tech for anything productive and as a high level Stark Industries employee he has just as much a right to it as anyone. Also it would make him fit into the MCU archetype of villains who worked with Tony in some way feeling entitled to his tech and trying to take it for themselves. (Aka the military, and every villain from the Iron Man movies, also the vulture if you really wanna stretch it) This would have made the movie better without actually changing very much of what happens in it.

I didn't get how the holograms combined with drones were actually meant to work. Like, the water elemental got people wet, which holograms can't do. If they had enough drones with supersoakers to pull that off, they didn't need EDITH in the first place. And there were things beside that which you can't explain away with drones. Like, how did the fire elemental subsume metallic objects like statues with molton lava? What happened to the metals that it was "consuming"? If you've got drones that can do all these amazing things WTF do you even need the pretense of an illusion anyway?
@Soulslinger2 жыл бұрын
The metallic objects were part of the illusion. Most everything that the elementals interacted with was either part of the illusion or was simply shot by drones (eg. you can clearly see in the fire elemental battle that the ferris-wheel was just shot with bullets). Things getting wet in the water elemental battle could just be drones quickly moving in and out of water and making waves. We do not actually see the water elemental itself affecting anything other than holo-Mysterio. Though yes, I do admit that the water elemental thing requires a bit of suspension of disbelie.

Your assessment of this movie is spot on (as almost always). I thought this was one of the better Spider Man (and possibly Marvel as a whole) UNTIL that scene on the bridge where the 'hologram projector' turns on magically and gives away Mysterio's gig. Everything from that point on was basically a pale imitation of the quality of the first half of the movie or whatever. By the time of the 'final battle' in London, I couldn't possibly have cared less again, due to Marvel's inability to have a 'battle' that doesn't involve (as you said) 1000s of cgi enemies flying around. Almost every Marvel movie seems to rely on 'battles to the horizon' in these cases, but I'd MUCH rather have ONE single battle between two foes (like Winter Soldier/Captain america) then endless cgi enemies off into infinity. But I must be in the minority as virtually every Marvel movie recently ends the same way... This movie started out really well (I liked Mysterio) but ended just as bad as 90% of Marvel movies unfortunately.

And when a sharp salesman or con artist got hold of them, it was really bad. Cuz all their brains and intelligence were turned against them. I agree it would have been nice if Peter had found some clues or there had been some foreshadowing in the movie for the audience versus stumbling on the high-tech gear which gives away the show.
