@jackdaone6469Ай бұрын
It’s such a great moment because you know that the late Edsel Ford would have been ecstatic at what the team had built. Edsel was every bit the visionary that his father, Henry I, was, pioneering Ford’s hotrod lines like the Model 40; Henry, however, was very much stuck in his glorious past of the Model T, so the two constantly butted heads despite Edsel having taken over Ford in 1919. Henry constantly overruled his son, and it’s speculated that the stress and heartache of clashing with his father contributed to Edsel dying from cancer at the young age of 49. When Henry II says “I wish my daddy was here to see this,” it rings a strong bell for those who know the history and how much Edsel, a huge hotrod enthusiast in his youth, would have loved such a car. Hell, if he was still alive and in his son’s place, Edsel would have likely requested the chance to take the GT40 for a spin, himself.
@braynjohnson43022 жыл бұрын
I think the downer ending is incredibly important actually. He explains earlier to his son why he’s willing to risk his life racing and eventually he’s does in fact have to pay that price. It leaves you with the question. How far is too far? Was the success worth his son growing up without him?
@proph75432 жыл бұрын
I think that the melancholy note make the film that much more memorable. This film might be called "Ford Vs Ferrari" in some markets, but in others it's called Le Mans 66, and I think that focusing on the underdog winning team is the right choice if you go by that title. Ultimately it's about the story of the important men behind the project, and about Ken Miles above all else, particularly because this triumph is right before his own end. It's his final glorious chapter and it's entirely deserving of such a brilliant movie.

Well it far from accurate for drama: the car was already build and in tested in previous race it was 3rd year's developpement, Enzo has never been at the race, Ferrari was no match for Ford (Enzo probably new that) and Ken Miles was 8 laps ahead of the second Ford and if I remember correctly 12-14 laps on the 3rd Ford. Ferrari's cars withdraw half race. Ken miles was second and never allow with it car to be in the winner area ... When the course offcial saw Miles droping it pace by 30 sec a lap, they spy Ford. They found out the plot to put the 3 cars on the finish line at the same time (just 2 cars btw), and they said that if Ford walk this path, Miles will not win because he started ahead on the starting position (the 2d car had un more distance in the same amont of time). There is a really special moment where you see enzo Ferrari, he stays and watches the race even though his cars are out, and when he sees miles make a perfect lap record well into the race, he says "bellisimo" Italian masculine form of "beautiful" . I personally disagree with you saying the scene where Miles’ wife freaks out isn’t necessary or should be redone. I didn’t feel like she was mad because she didn’t want him to race, she was mad because he was lying to her. She told him she didn’t want Miles to lie to her just because he thinks it will keep her happy to keep from racing. This is done to build their relationship, and it personally hit home for me, as someone who will often lie in relationships just to keep others happy. Thats the only thing I disagree with and I understand every other point you make and agree with them.

Mollie's arc is pretty simple. She loves her husband and supports him in all his skills. But she demands to be kept in the loop. Good times, bad times, husband in fistfight times, no big deal. Keeping secrets? Big deal. (And it is grimly funny because it is discussed in the same terms as if he were having a secret affair instead of secret driving fast in circles.) The other arc is that she will.do her best to make money and help him chase dreams, but she is going to get upset if they lose the house. Gotta draw the line somewhere. I thought it was nice how they showed that she was willing to bury her fears in order to support her husband and son. She was portrayed as brave, funny, loving, and understanding, not as an oppressed victim. She didn't hate Shelby or the mechanics, either. She was supportive and romantic toward her man, wanting him to be his best self, and she accepted that might mean injury or death.

My main motivation for seeing this movie was a segment from the Amazon series The Grand Tour. After seeing it, I remember thinking "Wow, this would make a great movie." And a couple years later here we are and I was right, it did make a great movie I think I liked the character Mollie a little more than Drinker - she did have that odd moment where she seemed to flip from her previous position when Miles said he was working with Shelby, but then there was also that moment later where she visited Miles at work late at night with a picnic basket of food. It really seemed like a moment of reconciliation, like she was saying "I'm with you 100% no matter what."

I seen this twice in theatres and it's one hell of a ride. Yes, as a car enthusiast that has seen one of the original GT40's in person many years ago, I know they're using replicas. There's no speedo in the real one. Sometimes you can here the supercharger whine from the replica, but I'll give it a pass. You're not going to let actors or stunt drivers take an ultra rare original out and thrash it about. The always press the accelerator and downshift to pass the other car, is a bit cliche but they need to do something to show the audience what is going on. I'll let things like that pass. It's a fun movie the whole family can see, young or old.

Loved the film. Felt like I'd driven a whole race from start to finish by the end of the film. Was surprised when it kept going. I've been summarising the focus as being on the friendship between Shelby and Miles - I think that's where the soul of the movie lies - the other actors and subplots are like wallpaper to the emotion on display from the two main characters.
