I don’t mind her discovering new aspects of her sexuality as she has gotten older. But this Miranda is not the one that helped make this show iconic. I really hate that we had a queer person in che on this show and they just use them to break Miranda and Steve up. It’s hard enough to find well written queer characters as it is. Che being a really great friend to Miranda and Carrie could’ve really added to the show. Even if Miranda and Steve broke up, it wouldn’t shock me as much if it was because they grew apart. And if Miranda was exploring her sexuality with someone, then that could’ve been a slow build. With Miranda rediscovering her confident self rather than whatever this version is.

I can imagine Miranda turning bisexual, but she would never lose all that confidence and sassiness that she always used to have before. You cannot justify that she lost all that because of Steve and her marriage. It was her actual identity and they just stripped her off her real identity/changed the character into someone she never was - not confident, begging, fan girl. She was a masculine and badass lawyer, a woman that knew herself and the world around her. She had well established principles and people loved that about her. Now its like a lost puppy begging for attention. Sorry, would not happen in real life. Bad writing.
@koolaidman62519 ай бұрын
Cynthia Nixon wanted to play herself and the writers wrote her as herself -- a manhating lezzzbo. The writing is so lazy and pathetic -- Miranda was one of the first people in the group to have a blackberry or palm pilot and now all of a sudden she's "HURR DURRRR HOW FONE WORK? ME NO KNOW? OH IT RING WHAT? HOW STOP RING? NO CLUE SO CLUELESS AND HELPLESS AND OLD!" It's 20something fools writing 50yos as if they are 95
@JoelWalker566 ай бұрын
There’s no such thing as “turning.” You either are or you aren’t. PERIOD. The writers explored this potential way for Miranda back in the original show, and it was clear that she was straight. They lived in NYC and she was surrounded by fairly enough progressive people. If she was a lesbian or bi, she would’ve come out back then. Not to mention, she was in her 30s and by that age it’s very guaranteed what you like or don’t like. It’s not like she was surrounded by religious or conservative people. Making her a lesbian now it’s obvious a hidden agenda that the writers had to be more woke. Because God forbid there are more straights than LGBT people in a show nowadays.
@thisnthat425 ай бұрын
I always liked Miranda for showing that you can be a woman that is less interested in typical “girl” things or not dress and act in a certain way and that doesn’t automatically mean that they are bi or gay. Representation is important and I’m not arguing against that but they took away the thing that made her a great character and one that I could identify with more than the others. Also the way they crapped all over her marriage in both the movie and then this show just is the icing in the cake. I guess it’s not a show without adding some drama but it makes me wish they had just left it when the original show ended.

Sorry, wait, they made Miranda gay? Not loving the idea. Has nothing to do with being against gay folks at all. Cynthia Nixon being married (I think married) to a woman is perfectly fine and good, but this doesn’t seem authentic for Miranda. Cynthia apparently belongs with her wife, but Miranda belongs with Steve.

Or at least made her bi...did they not think of that?
@johniii8147 Жыл бұрын
It seemed very authentic to me if you were paying attention. Miranda always gave off the lesbian/bi vibe from the very beginning. Never really surprised me it never worked out with a guy with her character. Even Steve only happened because she had Brady and they were never happy. Took her till mid life to explore that side, which is not unusual.
@josefinebliss2801 Жыл бұрын
@@johniii8147 Disagree. Just because she has short hair and dresses tomboy doesn't make her queer. She tried dating a woman in the original satc and she realized quickly she wasn't into it. This is just the actress being unprofessional selfish and playing herself instead of Miranda. That's not how acting works. Also forced representation is more offensive than a complete lack of it.

@@johniii8147 Why, because of the short hair and sarcastic personality?.... Nah she was obviously very straight. Her failure with men COULD be explained by repressed lesbian sexuality but the fact remains that there would've been signs if Miranda wasn't straight. Even if you repress your sexuality and only ever look at and imagine yourself with men, if you're not fully straight there will still be signs. You will find yourself checking out women occasionally or you will have at least one or two major crushes on women that you couldnt ignore. The writers did have Miranda ask herself if she could be into women in one episode and came to the conclusion she isn't.

interesting how the reaction is on the character as people cannot stand that the Miranda they knew and partly identified with has changed. I think it cannot get more real than that. Life changes, people change. this is just life. how often do people change in real-life?! every day. so I think, bravo... it shows just that life is not a fairy tale à la Hollywood where everyone gets what they want and live happily every after. it is full of decisions, faults, learning, growing, changing.
