Now this, THIS is the best ending Superman could've had. To die as a human and get the chance to meet again with the woman he loves, instead of spending centuries alive, watching as everything and everyone he loves disappear. That's a real blessing, and the least he deserves after everything he has sacrificed for a species that wasn't even his.

The DC era of CW started with Superman in Smallville and ended with Superman & Lois. They maybe different series, but it’s really cool to think we followed Clark Kent as a boy and watched him grow up and then watch him become a father and die. What a great start and end for the DC era.

Out of all the Superman shows and movies that have aired throughout the decades, nothing has ever been able to tell a true ending where there's no possible way of continuing it. All stories either had potential to continue with a new plot or failed to deliver that it got axed. Superman and Lois broke that by giving a definitive end to Clark's story, one that he deserved after living a long and fulfilling life. After everything he fought for, he deserved to rest while knowing that his sons will continue his legacy. The legacy that he left on the world. The story of a farm boy who can do extraordinary things. And thus, the tale of Superman in this rendition comes to a close.

We've seen so many deaths of superman, but this is something else. The death of Clark Kent. Not at the hands of a world ending threat but as a human in almost the exact same way as his father. A mundane, surrounded by family kind of death of a man who earned his peace.

On June 2, 1932, Jerry Siegel's father Mitchell, an immigrant from Lithuania, died during a night-time robbery at his Cleveland second hand clothes store. He was shot to death. Strange how the origins of the Superman begin with a 18 year old boy who lost his father and his world to a bullet. DC Action Comics #1 (cover-dated June 1938 and published April 18, 1938). Jerry with the help of his friend, a pen and ink artist Joe Shuster created a bullet proof father strong enough to protect the weak from the evil in this world. There seems to always be some type of terrible suffering in all great art.

@mangooseplays7336 Ай бұрын
@@drenx87 Hm. I personally would add that it was Snyder/WB who wanted Cavill to act in a certain manner as Superman (as Cavill was very very much a sincere human being the first half of the movie). It's either that or Cavill has literally no range. But clearly he does, seeing his other movies and shows. Kinda like what George Lucas did to Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Christopher Lee, Samuel L. Jackson... (Also what Coppola did with Godfather 3 to Mike.)
@mangooseplays7336
@mangooseplays7336 Ай бұрын
AND I will also add that... I love comics and animated Batman. Which is why I find live action Batman terrible. For example, a "faithful" Batman/Bruce would be doing what Battinson did the first half of the film. No action, no romantic side story - in fact no side story - just plain detective work and then ingenious plan - non-action plan. In fact this element of detective work and mystery is why writers like Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, they all gravitate towards him than others. Because mystery = huge potential for creativity. In fact you can also include his odd but philosophical mindset.. That is very appealing for writers. In fact the above LACK OF ACTION is WHY I LIKE BATMAN. So, yeah, I have immense hatred of Batman movies (Keaton excluded). In fact, you can bring this back to Superman, since nobody has done him well since Reeves and now Tyler Hoechlin. I ronically Gunn has a challenge not because of Gunn's skill but because Superman & Lois has unexpectedly set a very high bar.

Tyler's version of Superman just exudes that feeling of love, trust, hope, friendship. He feels approachable and doesn't feel like your typical God rather a close friend whom you can trust with your life. Cavil's version felt like a mighty god however and was too brooding. Which is sad as he has such a fantastic smile during interviews. Snyder tried to replicate the aesthetic of the successful Dark Knight trilogy but failed because he failed to understand his character and wasted such a good potential for Cavil.

@mangooseplays7336

TBH even in a general sense... a hero always prioritizes saving people instead of fighting the enemy. And that's how you defeat Superman. It's just so sad how almost every superhero movie is just superhuman vs superhuman. Consider especially how "Logan" as an example, might be the pinnacle of recent superhero films. The only people he killed were those who didn't get out of the way. He didn't give a crap about the bad guys who weren't actually doing anything at the time. He "finally figured out what life was about." And what heroes care about is... life.
@mangooseplays7336
@mangooseplays7336 Ай бұрын
Or in a specific sense, in the comics they've cast Superman as the role of the ultimate ""inspiration" for all superheroes. In an alternate story where Supes retires, it immediately becomes groups of superheroes brawling each other. I say that because this because inspiration and legacy are very very similar.

It's unlikely. CW which is owned by Nexstar doesn't want to produce scripted shows anymore. It too expensive and unprofitable. They want to go to a different route by concentrate on reality TV that is cheaper to produced and making money. Which is why they canceled all the shows that were scripted. Luckily, S&L had returned for season 4 with budget cuts. The creator had planned for season 5 next season. The network wanted to, but WBD cancelled it because they didn't want 2 supermans running at the same time. They allowed 2 different universe batmans, but not Superman? I call BS!

I was nine years old when SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE premiered. I saw it opening night with my brothers. I honestly felt like I had died and gone to movie heaven. For me personally, it eclipsed STAR WARS. Chris Reeve really brought the comic book Superman to life. However, the producers did not respect or understand the character enough to let him develop. Instead of becoming deeper, the series became more shallow and silly. To the producers (writers, directors, photographers, special fx crew, etc.) of SUPERMAN and LOIS, you pulled off what is nearly impossible: sustaining interest and depth with a character whose powers are almost limitless. But none of that would have helped without a STELLAR cast. Not only is Tyler Hoechlin the new standard for Superman, but Elizabeth Tulloch became the definitive Lois Lane. Together, they made the relationship between Clark and Lois believable. Every other version had me wondering what Clark saw in Lois. Kudos also to the boys, and Emmanuelle as Lana Lang.

This had me against the ropes time and time again... The words kept punching and punching and I finally surrendered to the emotions... Cried like a little boy, and I'm thankful for that because, just like when Superman died in the comics, I felt I had lost not just a friend, but a man I admired and respected like a father. I don't belive much in the afterlife, but hearing Tyler deliver such simple yet so beautiful words I couln't help but believe that Superman could experience this becuase he deserved it. The best of us all, definetely and the main reason I will always love Superman. This episode was my "Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow?" and I am thankful I was granted the opportuity to experience this. It must have been hard in the 80's as well... Tyler Hoechlin is my favorite Superman of all time.

@mikeshapiro7049 Right. But I'm saying Clark should've seen Sam when his time came. This would've been an opportunity for him to thank Sam for sacrificing himself so he could come back. If Clark did see Sam, I think the life value (joy, hope, forgiveness, etc) he would've given him is trust. Because Sam trusted Clark to protect Lois and the family and also his trust in his plan to bring Clark back.

I like to think that in the afterlife time isn’t linear. So when Clark died he could see his boys from when they died, it they took the form from when they got their powers. So basically the afterlife began at the same time for everyone. It’s just my theory but it really doesn’t matter

I was not a fan of Tyler's Superman in the beginning, mainly because of Supergirl and the "arrowverse" thing BUT everyone kept saying "you have to watch Superman and Lois", so I did and me and my wife loved the show right away and just grew to love it more and more. It truly was a wonderful series and even though it ended too soon, the end was so well done, so emotional, so SUPER. Tyler's Superman became THE Superman for me, he won me over with his sheer talent and the amazing writing. Gonna miss this show.

I’m sorry moving forward there is George Reeves, Christopher Reeves and now Tyler Hoechlin the 3 men that truly understood what Superman and Clark Kent stood for! After Christopher Reeves it took 47yrs after attempt after attempt from Hollywood to get it right they finally did and they did with Tyler Hoechlin he embodied everything that made the character of Superman so special to me growing up. This series will be forever triumph over the major budget films because the people behind this also understood what and who superman is !
