Once again at the helm is director Adam Wingard. Like JanJumper216 said, Godzilla could charge it up so Kong could shoot electricity at any possible threats, it would be a great call back to the old movies, and would give him something to use against what I assume is the Skar King; it could also serve as a brace after a fight against him or another Kaiju as well.
