Honestly the problems just start with these games conception, theres never really much of a plan for this games development at the start beyond "play as a dinosaur" wich ends up leading to a lot of issues later on. Like for example the species roaster, they just go with whatever most of the time wich will lead to balancing issues no matter how much they try too fix them it will never work theres species that simply cannot co exist.

@choraki2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, you could throw the balancing system out there for any type of game, not just dinosaur games. The fantasy genre, for example. Why would a human be stronger than an orc, and why would a gnome be able to gut a hulk-like bear-guy? I don't think "logic" or "realism" is the problem of the balancing system, it's the fact that humans play this game. And in order to achieve things, they will use and exploit every single loophole that's given to them by the devs, whether that is intentional or not. Take BoB, for example. Despite the growth system having been nerfed, mega packs and toxic clans are still a thing due to the supernesting, friendship, and growth buff system. Supernesting and friendship allow for them to create impossible-to-kill dinosaurs, and growth buffs etc. just help them grow until 3.0 with the help of their mixpacking friends in order to dominate a server. Is that a problem of a Para being put up against a Coah or an Ichthy? No, that's a problem with the game design. Take TI, now. EVRIMA has been a bit of fresh air, but the same problems as before still persist. Mixpacking will not be punished and certain dinosaurs, regardless of realism or logic, have utopic stats. Take the example of the Stego and the Deino from this video. Why is a Stego capable of bashing a Deino, if realistically spoken, that would never be a thing? And the fact that Carnos, Stegos and Pachys can just pair up without any repercussions makes it easy for people to exploit being in an unkillable mega pack. If you want to balance a game, you can't think of realism. You have to think of the worst a player can do and try to eliminate that while keeping it fun for any other casual players. And in my opinion that's very hard to achieve with dinosaur simulation games. (But it's hard for any game, really.)
@TarbosaurusBaatar Жыл бұрын
Honestly to fix this simply, all they have to do is find prehistoric animals that lived in the same formation! It just makes things easier as you already have an environment to base off, animals you can already pick and a balanced system as these animals lived in the same ecosystem. It just cuts off an entire process of hard work.

My biggest problem with these games, but the Isle in particular, is it feels like the devs don't actually understand dinosaurs nor do they care to. All they care about is the vaguely dinosaur shaped movie monsters instilled into pop culture with things like Jurassic Park. Just look at the bottom tiers of your Isle Design tier list video to see what I mean. I know these games aren't meant to be simulators or educational but as you yourself said "If a game claims to have your favorite dinosaur, you expect to see your favorite dinosaur" not some abomination that is vaguely similar to your favorite dinosaur. There has been such a diversity of dinosaurs discovered, especially in the last decade or so, that there is a dinosaur that probably meets your exact wants so there is no reason to contort a popular dinosaur to meet your needs.

It's always good to voice issues out, regardless of the subject, since if none voice them they can't be fixed. Hell, as much as I love playing PoT I agree with most of the issues you pointed out here, especially the part about "not using enough of the MMO part". I talked about it with people on their discord quite often (including some moderators and devs, when they had the time) and I'm far from being the only one, unfortunately it's one of these situations of "all I can do is wait and see where it goes" kind of situation. We discuss it with them, we post suggestions for them to read, but in the end we still have to walk the roadmap to see how they flesh all of it out. Although I don't like the way they disabled the discord due to the backclash of the trailer release... I kinda understand why they did it since I was there when that happened : it was an endless stream of new people coming in, throwing their hate out, then a mod comes to give an explanation... And then the process repeats itself because new ones keep coming in with the exact same questions and hate-filled comments. It quickly became too much for the moderators to keep track of. I do not approve of them shutting the channel off (even though temporarily) but I do understand why they ended up making this decision and just pinned the messages of the moderator explanations for the incoming people to read. Apart from it, I completely understand you being tired of these games, and if you don't want to keep playing them it's alright. The main purpose of a videogame, one which many people tend to forget, is to have fun. If you don't have fun playing it, then you should play something else, it's as simple as that ^^

I messaged a dev of Path of Titans when I had an issue of constantly being DoS attacked whilst using their services. I had made an entire list of each attack and all the locations of the attackers. Some are from dos panels, some are from personal residences, and some are just random attacks. Regardless I have all the proof, and it ONLY happened when I played PoT. No other game, just pot. Myself and my friends whilst playing had been kicked from the servers, had our entire Wi-Fi systems go down, and need hard rebooting. When we did, we both found DoS attacks from the same attacker on multiple occasions. Again, I can’t stress this enough this only occurred during playing pot. I messaged a dev called Connor addressing my concerns respectfully, saying I had been playing the game since dinos first became playable and a long term backer and I was basically pleading for help, only to be met with the most rude, ridiculing comments I have ever experienced from a dev. He made me feel idiotic and small, saying pot can never be hacked (anything in the world can be hacked) and didn’t at all listen to my concerns. After a few back and forth comments which I have screenshots of his atrocious behaviour towards a consumer, I went further to message Alderons Games and request my in game data to see which players I was fighting at certain times I was DoS attacked. I got around 2 emails from the management handling it, asking me what my issue was and which dev I was reporting for bad behaviour, to then be ignored. I chased them up the day after or a few days after for a follow up email, again I was ignored. Pot doesn’t care about their community as much as they lead you to believe, and having had a really upsetting experience for a dev I went to kindly asking for help, it’s really let me down. He still remains unpunished for his unprofessionalisim as well.

Dino survival games tend to suffer from what I like to call the Multiplayer Halo. This phenomenon causes developers to create things that favor a multiplayer experience, or simply leaning towards making their game multiplayer over singleplayer. This isn’t to say the Multiplayer Halo isn’t always a detriment, one of my favorite games, Don’t Starve Together, for a majority of its current content, right down to its conception, was built with the Multiplayer Halo shining bright over the developers heads. It’s clear why this is too. Other players make for a good supplement or outright substitute to other forms of content, usually raising the overall enjoyment of the experience. Don’t like making complex AI for enemies? Just give some of the stronger skillsets to players and make a FPS. Unfortunately, the Multiplayer Halo has worked to the detriment of most Dino survival games. The isle, evrima especially, is over reliant on other players to generate the majority of the content, as bots are scarce and non-threatening, other players are needed both to make the game survivable for carnivores, challenging for herbivores, and interesting for both. Beasts of Bermuda suffers from being a people pleaser, wasting their valuable update time either shoving fan-chosen creatures into the game, or simply fixing some of the more major balance issues these rushed projects create, causing the game to become both bloated and convoluted, made worse by a playerbase, as you stated, made complacent by broken, rushed classes. Path of Titans suffers from the halo by forcing multiplayer mechanics into the game that ultimately weren’t needed. The MMO aspects, as already stated, are few, but also very infuriating, put in there simply to cater to the Multiplayer Halo clouding the developers heads. Personally, something that needs to happen to create and interesting and compelling Dino survival game is to make it singleplayer. This allows and almost forces developers to focus on really fine tuning mechanics, and creating an enjoyable experience on its lonesome. Only once you have a good singleplayer foundation, even if you don’t intend to make the game solely singleplayer, or singleplayer at all, can you decide if you want to make the experience multiplayer. TLDR: Dino survival devs use multiplayer to trick players into making the game for them, so instead a singleplayer foundation needs to be set up before considering multiplayer.
@eFMe-fk1xh Жыл бұрын
Perfectly put. I would have liked to add more, but honestly, I've always been saying the same things you said here since forever. I think now we have definitely understood that Dino\animal multiplayer games cannot work? (well, not really, actually... since many animals games are in the making, promising the same good old impossible things). I totally agree about Singleplayer: these projects would allow the devs to have control of any phase of the game, and make it interesting, balanced and with entertaining mechanics; but.. it would be niche (only for true animal fans, losing all the casual pvp community), and wouldn't make as much money as multiplayer. Infact, multiplayers exist because they are basically the cheap\easiest way to make money: devs spread hype, create a game which is basically a platform where they put dozens of fancy fan-favorite animals, and then leave the players in hell, with broken mechanics to abuse, and everybody accusing each other of being toxic and stuff. None of these games, not even the newer ones seems to have understood the importance of simplicity: few mechanics, few animals, but well done in its simplicity.
@dragolantis7333 Жыл бұрын
@@eFMe-fk1xh I certainly agree, but I do think multiplayer dino survival can work, its just difficult and you need to be careful with it. I have a number of ideas on ways to potentially improve the experience, but one idea that doesn't tie to a singleplayer campain is to have a really powerful creature or environmental danger that forces players to adapt and be more tactical. Get into scraps all you want, its just going to bite you when the sound of fighting rings the dinnerbell for that thing in the bushes, and gather around one area of the map all you want, its not like that dormant volcano will decide to blow or anything, or that a flash flood or tornado will hit the area.

I think the biggest problem with dinosaur survival games isn't maps or growing systems or anything like that, I think the heart of the issue lies with creature balancing and species choice, what I mean is that certain dinosaurs will always seem "under balanced" or "not viable" due to them being placed in a non compatible ecosystem ie taking dinosaurs from two separate time periods and mushing them together to create a "balanced ecosystem", of which is always create an illusion of certain dinosaurs being useless and therefore those dinos not having a player base, (this is also seen in the real world when invasive species are introduced to a different ecosystem and completely dominate it and ruin the current ecosystem) and the only way I can think to solve this issue is to have a dinosaur game based around a certain time period and region, but this would create more issues because people who "like dinosaurs" typically want to see their favorite beating up other big predators when that simply would've never happened ie Stegosaurus vs Trex or Trike vs Allosaurus, and due to that I probably wouldn't have a big audience, overall I think the problem that are dinosaur survival games is just a tad bit unsolvable.

My issue with these games is that they are all the same, massive maps with nothing to do other than wander around, PoT tries to fix this with mini quests, but the just boil diwn to "gather 12 pine cones" What i think these games NEED is some fat trimming, not every dinosaur needs to be playable, i want you to look me in the eye and tell me people like playing as dryo, and other dinosaurs are "why would i play as X when Y is the same but better?" Also a map just needs to be dense and full of landmarks not 4 times the size of the earth and as empty as the void

I haven't watched the video yet, (Since its premiering but I will once it does) But I agree with you. Dinosaur survival genre is really getting old in gameplay and fun. It was fun once games like dinosaur survival on roblox and the isle first game out. but its been like 5 to 7 years and many of these early access dinosaur survival games haven't really went anywhere with there development. Many of these games are barren wastelands of grass with barley anything to do unless there are other players online and even then those players wont play by the rules. With growth rates that take hours to even accomplish only to die so easily. its just not a fun gameplay loop at all. I am sure in real life being an animal is boring but I am sure that even real life would be more fun then this since you can do a lot more. There should be more unique behaviors the dinosaurs have that they can use, Actual AI that walks around and do there thing. Actual family raising system. Sure all of this is very hard to program I am not saying its easy but you would expect that to all be in a game in the works for atleast 5 to 7 years with kickstarter money. I would even go as far to argue ark is a better dinosaur survival game with the play as dino mod and thats janky AF as it is. I haven't even mentioned how horrible the isle devs have treated their fanbase and their anti modding sentiment. Which I really disagree with since mod support is the one thing that can keep your game alive without need for constant live service updates. I mean look at halo 3. That game lasted for years because of community creation tools like theater, forge and custom games. Thats my opinion on things. I can't wait to watch the video. I am sure you will have similar thoughts. But I wanted to give my two cents.

Minecraft is the best example to look at if one wants to make a survival game that is all up to the player. The reason Minecraft still holds the crown as the most successful game was that fact you are submerged into its world. Minecraft never needed a 2nd game/ sequel. People always come back to it because of the freedom you have. These games simply have too many restrictions, when realife survival has no rules. These games simply do not have the wonder of exploring, living, experienceing the world around you. These animals were alive 66 million years ago and lasted for over a 100 million, yet none of these survival games take advantage of the unique and alien world it was.

I agree with everything you said about these three games. Although... I'm not sure if it's fair to call Pesky transphobic. Pesky makes a lot of dark humor jokes and in one of his irl videos he made where he says a joke that something is gay, he pauses the video to explain that the joke was a little bit too far and that he supports gay rights (if you don't know what I'm talking about, it's this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZPQeWeigLpqpJo at 10:15). Also, the screen shot from Scanova is from discord and it’s from over a year ago, and it’s clearly been taken out of context since we don’t see what the actual conversation was about. The screen shot is also older then when the term super straight became more mainstream because of certain influencers. It’s more likely that Pesky didn’t understand how bad of a term it was since it wasn’t as popular back then.

@@themakoshark101 Trans person here- no it does not fall in the same logic of supporting trans people. The LGB community can be extremely transphobic, even just those who support the gay community. For example: If I said I like apples, that isn't me saying I also like oranges, I am only saying that I like apples. I could very well like oranges, but trying to say that by my statement of liking apples, I must also like oranges. Not all trans people are also gay, a transwoman could like men and not like woman just as a transman could like women but not men. Being trans has nothing to do with your sexuality, it has to do with your gender-identity. The quote of “hating people for the sexuality that they were born with and have no control over is stupid.” can never apply to a trans person. Why? Because we were born in the wrong body, with the wrong gender. Being born with a sexuality that can fluctuate (much like gender can) for majority of someone's life has nothing to do with someone's gender-expression/identification. Saying "He believes that hating people just for the way they were born is dumb, so saying he is transphobic is an accusation that is really hard to back up. " is generalizing what he actually said, which was about being born with a somewhat set sexuality, and transforming it into something completely different and in a slightly ignorant way. So no, I do not believe he was saying he accepted and supported trans people, nor do I know if he does, unless he makes a public statement about it that is for me to know about. His comment about "super-straight" and not dating trans people if you don't want to, invalidates so many in the trans-community. So many of us fight to be seen as our actual gender, not the one we were born with, we fight every day to look like the "socially accepted cis person" only for those to turn around and say they wouldn't date a trans person because they themselves don't see them as their gender, only the fact that they are a trans person "pretending" to be the gender they know they are. So yeah. It's really fucking insensitive for him to say that.

@@quilltedtulip I mean you’re right, we do need a public statement from him, but right now all we can really do is interpret what he has said. I have already looked for other transphobic statements he might’ve said and I’ve come up empty. The screen shot has been almost certainly been taken out of context since there’s was a conversation going on (for all we know, it could be that he was describing what the definition of super straight was, that’s how vague the screen shot is and is why context is needed here). If you can provide any solid evidence, that would greatly help all of us out.

Dinosaur survival games never work too well because of the whole survival aspect in the first place. The survival to the game is literally “sit around and grow until you are big to then do the only exciting thing in the game, that still gets boring after doing too much: fighting.” Its the same thing, over and over, because translating an animals life (boring to us, is purely just trying to survive, eat, graze, repopulate, then die) is not a good gameplay for a person (because we usually hope for active action and fun when doing things. We aren’t like animals who are trying to just survive, but also have fun as well). In all, dinosaur survival doesn’t work as a playable game because humans need more then just surviving. They need quests, stories, objectives, challenges, etc to make the game more interesting. That why I think most people love unofficial events in the isle, since it brings so much more fun to the game, even if the event isn’t realistically what dinosaurs would actually do. It’s also why I think people love hypos and humans, because it brings backstory and lore to the isle, which makes it more interesting then just, “dinosaur game go brrr”

Loved the video, I'm only playing POT these days so I was not aware of the development of other games. I think Path of Titans has a huge gameplay advantage - it's simple to play! You quest, you grow, eat/drink and fight - then repeat. If you think about it, this is all that a player needs on a daily basis. They really nailed the gameplay loop. My feeling is that both BOB and TI are becoming these complex bloated games that only hardcore fans enjoy. POT has nailed the dinosaur movement, FPS is top notch, night/day cycle is really eye pleasing, underwater is fantastic. They are ahead by a lot!

I try so hard to enjoy these games, but it gets harder and harder. So much of what makes these games fun (especially the Isle) is playing with friends. Back when I first got the game in 2019 I was practically playing 24/7 when I wasn't in school, even playing into the night on school nights. I would sit in large vc calls with people, just having a great time surviving in large packs or herds. It was FUN, and EXCITING to get hunted by anything with teeth regardless of if you were a carnivore or a herbivore. I'd get into huge arguments over rule breaks and game mechanics, made some of my closest friends through the game, but eventually we all slowly grew out of it. We moved to BoB or PoT but neither of them lasted as long, even now I maybe will play one of the games for a week at the most, and thats only really when I get hyperfixated on dinosaurs again. The communities are toxic, the devs are toxic, and the updates just get lackluster as they go. I came into the skin and nesting update for Evrima with excitement, played for a week or two, then never touched it again. They aren't fun anymore, and now that I'm a adult with a job, I just don't have the kind of time these games require. I already have to work 8 hours on most days, I don't have time to grow a 2-6 hour dinosaur, fight things, nest, and just hang out with people. I find myself looking at the clock while playing these games to make sure I'm not playing for too long to get other things done. PoT is the worst culprit for growth times, because they make you do quests to grow, it takes more time to run across the map to get more broken acorn quests then it would to sit and afk grow on BoB or Legacy Isle. We need a better option for a dinosaur survival game.
@VelocciYT2 жыл бұрын
to add regarding PoTs growth... yea questing to grow is something, in theory a decent idea, in gameplay practice... its not fun. There is so much the devs wanted or said they were going to add when quests first came about, like multi stage quests. perhaps even the idea of dungeon style quests, but after 2 years of quests its stuck in the same loop that it was in from the beginning. The Isle i can barely play because its so poorly optimised, i can play games like GTA V, Halo, CoD MW, ARK. without lagging, the isle on the lowest graphics i get 5-30fps. BoB i do like it, has a soft spot, but I don't play it enough to properly form an opinion on it and of course finally, great video scanova!

Another criticism of these games is the copy a paste formula they have. The big three have it, but they're all different, BOB being the more less Isle formula than POT. Out of all of them, POT is just really draining to play. The spawns are shit, I really hate the mechanic that prevents you from spawning in as one of your characters because the area was even the slightest bit of active. Like it can make you loose that dino if people often hang out in that area. I think my biggest complements for the Isle is the mistrust of your surroundings and Evirma having each dino be unique from one another, the main play ables serving a purpose. While both POT and BOB lack those feature. POT being the weaker out of the two. My biggest complement for BOB is the fact that it has unique features from the other two and stands out as it's own separate game more, being more of it's own. It feels more fantasy inspired than horror and thats the big difference between BOB and The Isle. POT just feels bland, it doesn't know what it wants to be. It lacks both horror, mystery, and hidden lore to bring the audience in. My biggest concern with POT is that it lacks creative ideas. Comparing POT with the Isle and BOB, it's seriously lacking in creative liberties. The only real pro I have for POT is the graphics, optimization, and the fact their animal designs fit within the world. But game play wise, it's trying too hard to be something it's not.

Well it’s because I played both primal and the isle ever since I was 7 years old and now that I’m 15 I still play them but not as much anymore since I have a life. the isle is boring and they take so long to add in dinosaurs and they’re all working on different projects and it’s too much to handle. Primal Carnage: Extinction, I love the game so much but what bothers me is the fact that the popularity is small, the good side about the game is that the devs (actually one dev dinosauriac, the dev team is small but the rest of the dev team don’t talk in the discord server) listen to their people and I should say the same with the isle, and primal is a dinosaur vs humans game and its the #1 dino vs human game I’ve experienced and the community is awesome but some of the people in the community arent as great as the rest of the people.

Really loved playing them, but I don't really do that anymore. For TI evrima, mostly for poor optimization, uninteresting map design, and diet system being too much of a pressure. For BoB, mostly balance issues and some species being completely overwhelmed by their 'better versions' For PoT, mostly for having to invest so much time for abilities and growth. Also I feel like their balancing should be a lot careful since you can put only one ability in a slot. Since every player is a person, it's hard to control their behaviors to work as a roleplay game, unfortunately. I think the same reason goes with why packing is such a delicate area. Anyway, really enjoyed the video and I wish you good luck with whatever you decide to do! Loved your BoB videos.

Someone needs to make a game with one or two playable species. Just one or two. Preferably one. In an ideal world we could have an in-depth and enjoyable game with a plethora of species, but it's just not feasible to make meaningful gameplay for an animal when you focus on too many. You can't get the intricate details of their life that make them unique. It becomes an eat, drink simulator. Not even a 'sleep' simulator since they're all multiplayer for some reason, which also ruins the experience due to unrealistic behaviors.

Out of all the games mentioned, Path of Titans ultimately was the only game to rise above the other two. They genuinely bettered their game, including the combat update and new models, abilities, etc. With the mention of their realism in the models designs I don’t agree with you about the criticism on the “boring” aspect of the designs. They look like that because animals in real life aren’t going to be neon or brightly colored, (aka BoB skins) and mostly it’s the babies with simplistic skins to tell their age. The game itself looks genuinely better than the two other games and has definitely changed in the time span this video was made.

And yes f**k Pesky and everything he stands for. Fact his profile looks vaguely trans flag like with the blue and white on the Carno and pink background just rubs me the wrong way too.

Why u hate pesky?
@fang6092 жыл бұрын
Because if you watched till the end of the video as Scan pointed out Pesky is Transphobic. And while I myself aren't Trans I know people who are and I support them in their decisions of been Trans, so people like Pesky acting like Trans people are abominations and shouldn't have the rights that other people have really gets on my nerves. Plus in general I found him and his content a bit annoying

There's a bit more to Pesky then that one isolated screenshot (which has been taken out of context). I have made a comment on it with evidence I've found and another person named Shiftyvee has made a more extensive comment on it (check his out first, it has more info).

I'll play a creature survival game when they make one with decent combat. Give the creature a bunch of different moves with startup, active frames and end lag. Have grapples and all that kind of stuff. Make them react and get knocked around when they take a hit. None of this walk up and press the bite button a thousand times stuff.

We need more games where you play as a human surviving in a dinosaur filled world and no not ARK, ARK has become just as stale as other dinosaur survival games we need more narrative... either stuff like remaking Dino crisis or maybe a single player survivor experience like Far Cry primal but with dinosaurs. That's the kind of dinosaur game I want.

I feel as if some of these games focused on combat mechanics it would be really cool. Instead of spamming m1, make the combat like Jaws Unleashed. Hold M1 to bite and hold, then shake the mouse to take out chunks. Give collision. Make injuries on different parts of the body cause different effects.

i keep seeing a lot of people claim that the pesky screenshot is taken out of context which maybe it is, but until proven that its not it is blatant proof of transphobia and not just that but the man also supports people like Ben Shapiro whilst also claiming to support queer people. Now coming from a queer person, if you want to support us, then don't turn around and support people like Ben Shapiro and if you want to lie about supporting us, don't openly talk about how you support conservative politicians as it will entirely expose you as a liar.

I play Isle, PoT, and BoB - I love the Isle, but yes, progress is slow. The map has so much wasted area. But the playables in Evrima, I think, are all really good, so I'm optimistic, and I understand there's a whole new map coming, hopefully in UE5, which might fix many of the performance issues.

I used to play dinosaur survival games, but ive moslty had fun with tycoon / first person shooter games. I find these games nowadays dont have mature dev teams that lead to drama and draw backs for the projects progress. The isle and beasts of bermuda, ive had my days with , dealt with toxic players and greif yet i did enjoy the thrill of it, i didnt enjoy how the devs handle the commuinty and how its all manged with all these rules and rule breakers. All gets stressful over time. Issue with people hunting for sport and not hunting when theyre hungry. Played the isle back in 2015 , played bob back in 2018, and ive spent too many un healthy hours in both games to grow a virtual creature that dies to toxic players that dont have any other huntable npc prey lurking about. Primal carnage is always fun, you dont loose progress when you die, you play yo have fun, i play games for that reason. Maybe im not built to deal with high heart rates when someone is killing my dino. Games i prefer to play thats dinosaur like is prehistoric kingdom, and beasts of bermuda ONLY on the pve instant revive le hide out chillout server, duels are allowed and fun events are held there and reskins. Compared to playing pvp i felt limited to what dinosaur i could play as some others are weaker, i wouldnt log on para or velo as i knew it would be 1 shotted, clans and targetting is a pain in the ... and balences arent acurate, they change the stats all the time, they nerf certain dinosaurs making players choose the better ones. I prefer more friendlyer environments , im more of a pve player since ive had my pvp days and toxic players effect my mental health not gonna lie couldnt sleep most nights. My last days of bob is on my channel shown as my moments on bob where its funny wholesome clips ive had on the game. Ive got no pvp skills at all, but i have fun some way playing as a huge apato that i grew to 2.2 Sorry for a ton of text above, thought id say my thoughts about this topic. I wouldnt mind joining your discord carno or something, seem well knowleged on these games and a nice person :)

oh you too ? first of all I'm really tired of seeing communities giving so much credit to those garbage game. No they aren't great game. At all. The goal is only to survive and there is no depth in the gameplay. PoT and TI keep doing amazing promesses but we still don't see them being realized. BoB is kinda OK as the devs don't treat their game as if it was the next big game idea for the inderstry, they don't promess any they just dev"ing the game. But the thing that annoye me the most is really the community of that kind of game, I could go on for ages but I think you get what i'm meaning.

The comments at 13:30, can you explain how this is awful behavior? It seems like they called out someone in their discord that was trying to spread misinformation about a dino that we dont know much about. This is an issue because if its not addressed or called out, then the community takes this as fact for the dino and runs with it causing headaches for everyone. The Isle team has definitely not been the most 'professional' team ever. Especially with Dondi...... but honestly I get their attitude. Maybe its just me getting older but so much misinformation, backhanded comments, and straight lies are constant in the discussion channels. IF the community could be reasonable and just have 'theory crafting' conversations where we are just speculating im sure thats fine but when someone goes in and says something like they know it as fact and then defends it with 'nothing', it just gets old. Good luck man, I hope you find a new thing for your channel that brings you a lot of joy! I will follow and see what you come up with. You actually could just a 'hot takes' channel on popular games, movies, shows, etc. What ever you are in to at that time. I rarely agree with you at all but I find myself coming back because I like the ability to hear from the other side! Take care!

Just some ideas incase there is some indie dev looking to make a dinosaur game... 1) monster hunter clone but with dinosaurs/other prehistoric creatures 2) survival game like 'The Forest' with a setting similar to Peter Jackson's Skull Island (not an ARK clone) 3) evolution simulator that mainly focuses on dinosaurs (like spore but more "scientifically accurate" and mature) I've been desperately wanting games like these for a while.

My biggest issue with BoB is most servers have a growth cap above when you'd get your last point. I'd be more exciting if you have to really think about where u put your points on a server that has a cap of 1.5 against not worrying where u put your points because you'll eventually get em. Found I was not playing it more often than I was cause u have to afk grow safely until your 2.0 to have a chance

Thank you so much for making this video. I'm so tired of dinosaur survival games as well despite playing them a fair bit. I think something that would help a ton would be to have an adventure style game without PvP combat, as well as one that's mainly just combat but with realism. Have the dinosaurs react to being hit and need to heal from damage realistically. That or just make a straight up fighter game since people seem to be so obsessed with PVP combat...honestly I'd prefer an adventure game myself. And please no more park sims either....

Honestly, I can agree on the profusion of dino survival games. Like, it kinda shocks me to think there are so many recent dino he's, but most are survival games, and some park builders. You'd think we'd get a platformer, maybe something more action-y, hell a strategy he could be cool. The variety is just, there's so much potential just left untapped.
@bigchungbus57562 жыл бұрын
Honestly, 4 months later and i finally agree with some of this. I think beasts of bermuda has a very rewarding gameplay for extremely dedicated no lifers outside of titania, and titania will eventually get boring. Path of titans combat system is ruined by 2 things, the ability to abuse combat timer as a group to prevent smaller groups or solo dinos from healing, and the poorly balanced status effects (I.E. bleed being slow dmg and easily healable, and rex being able to charge a bite for 0.1 seconds and get 15 seconds of bonebreak on something.) And then there is the isle. Legacy is a good game, however, its plagued by the death of itself, some jank mechanics, and poor server options. Oh, yeah and the notion of never being updated. Evrima i have never installed. Its good, dont get me wrong, but they spend too long being lazy during balancing that the development is so slow and so far behind that i dont really give a shit about it, never did to begin with. Even now theres less than 10 playables made over like 3 years, what the fuck are they smoking?

I have played all 3 games and out of the 3 I like Beasts of Bermuda the most. The Isle: While the game is fun most of the game play as of right now is just growing enough to be able to survive a single Carno hit before actually going out and doing anything, I swear I spend more time afking in random spots than I do actually playing the game. Also the Community and Devs made me not really interact with other players and the only server I find people who dont constantly curse you out if they found out its you who killed them is AU Official servers and The Zoo. For me The Isle needs a TON of optimization and balance fixes, they should have never added the larger dinos without thinking of the roster at the time. I feel deino and Stego should had been held back till other smaller dinos were out, like Troodon and Beipi. Troodon could have shown players how to work with a glass canon dino and learn to be patient when hunting. While Beipi could have shown us how the water mechanics will work and what it would be like for when Deino came out. Beasts of Bermuda: I really like being able to customize my dinosaur and im very fond of the accessibility for those with colorblindness and the ability to tone down skin colors for a more realistic look. While some dont like the more cartoonish style I find it fine for right now. The Optimization can use some work for alot of the maps but otherwise you dont require a heavy computer to run it. I actually really like the talent system but some talents just feel like a must instead of a choice. I do understand people not wanting to lose a dino as I too have many dinos on a specific server that I am very glad to have, my main two being bios, but I would be fine to lose those dinos for some more balance. All in all BoB is fine with me for right now, it for sure needs balances but im kinda okay with everything being able to kill everything. A skilled ptera could kill a rex just as a skilled rex would know to use the key to look in the sky to aim and kill the ptera. A ory can trick foes into going into its burrow where it can then easily kill them with comfort, having dinos be viable for those who know how to play them is something I approve a lot of. Path of Titans: I have less experience with this one as it became boring so fast for me. The constant clans killing people left and right and having to do quests to grow killed it for me. I really like the idea like the skins, species, talents and such but I feel some things need to be worked on more before I go back to it. I feel adding in an adopt or nesting system would be a great thing for newer players who will need alot of help when starting out. Also the fact you have to buy things with the points is kinda hard when your constantly being killed as a baby and cant even get to the next stage before starting all over again. I for sure have a bad bias for this game but when they start adding more updates and mechanics I may go back and my thoughts on it can change. Overall I like the idea of it just some things needed to be rounded out before it started.
