Wow 31:00. Saying sorry CAN be a manipulative tool but that's not its true purpose for sure. Saying sorry is about accepting your wrongs and conveying your remorse/awareness to the person you hurt. Saying sorry is saying "I take ownership of the hurt I caused you that you didn't deserve. I can't erase it but I promise to be better." We'd all be happier people if we said sorry and meant it.

Many also just say sorry as a passive aggressive way of shutting the other party up. Seen this with couples where one party always berate the other one, and the one berating always have this narcissistic tendencies because the other party is an enabler

From what I've seen, if youre a business owner, at most reply once to address issue and never address it again. Then after a while quietly delete everything related to this because you dont want to affect new customers. Try not to reply too much to issues because people always will have something to say back to you everytime you try to reply/justify. I don't blame businesses for doing this because they can't afford to close shop because of one incident. Give up their livelihood. Most people won't keep screaming at walls. They angry fast, give up also fast.

There are numerous comments of saying sorry versus one being truly Sorry .... for me, on many occasions with a particular person, I would just say sorry to end the conversation as i realised that the recipient cannot accept or will never change. So I just sweep the issues under the carpet or ignore & pretend it never happened and try to avoid similar incidences to take place in future that leads to such outcomes again.

When I was young my parents would always discipline me with the rotan, but later on at night they would sit down with me and explain what I did wrong and then apologise for having to rotan me.

The word ‘Sorry’ is the least used word that most humans use. They may use either ‘my bad’ or ‘apologie’ or ‘oops’ in replacement of the word sorry. Also apologising to another person, is the last thing one person will do. If one has done wrong, be responsible and apologise for the error. Then let it pass and never bring the past up to make the other person feel bad.

i said this while attending a training before (as an attendee for an Emotioanl Intelligence training): Elton John's song doesn't make sense anymore nowadays, "sorry" is no longer the hardest word and is a cheap method that we use in our day to day life to de-escalate the situation even if we don't mean it, or worse, knowing that we are right, especially against higher ups or customers. Totally caught our in-house trainer by surprise and had them scraping for an answer.

In a work scenario, how do you apologise "professionally"? When the boss scold you for doing a report wrongly but this is the first time you are trying to complete. It is a brand new report no one has done before. If you are quick to apologise to de-escalate, the boss will think yeah you are weak. But if you try to explain using but (Yes I am sorry but this is the first time I am doing), it seems that you are rude or trying to push blame.

A smart worker will never take the blame in front of boss. You might think he will be moved by your sincerity, but he will only think you're probably even more incompetent than the things you apologized for. You have to say until the problem is borderline act of God. I learnt this lesson when last time my group mate did literally nothing for project but come presentation he bluffed like he leader of the group know how everything works. Whatever problem happened he downplay until like normal occurence. Then he get same credit as us. So in summary, downplay problems, don't take responsibility, but also don't throw people under the bus. Promise nice things and give boss hope for the future. Of course need to be extra vigilant and deliver results. Then boss impressed give you raise. Don't forget to compliment boss for being strict and caring.

Why You Should Never Say Sorry I agree with Sherms most ppl spew it out so casually that the meaning feels lost. not just between co workers everyone and any one. most ppl should stop looking at their phone while walking tbh srsly. or trying to let way but end up being a bollywood scene with no tree, cos both trying to let each other cross then 2nd guessing. or the ones come out of escalator then go which direction. OI ppl behind u comming out no space to walk. at least clear the metal access area. and many more instances where sorry doesn't feel like the person is sorry rather than just a convenience but if your co workers are like these must be fun working at the place. I just stop right there and then and stare is lv 1. lv 2 is shake head. lv 3 add the tsk tsk tsk.... even for family relatvies and friends... yes i am that cb friend that will call you out with honesty even i get checked by my cb friends. you know who you are hahaha. to me its not a attack on the person but just the action. so sorry if you feel the shoe fits. then shut up and lace it up.

Omg the why should say sorry is such an interesting topic! I wish u can invite me to the show to share more 😂 My unsolicited opinion on "why we should say sorry" is that we want to let the other party know we acknowledge our actions and it was unintentional to hurt their emotions. My version of sorry is that, saying sorry has 0 correlation with whether im right or wrong in the debate. That is totally another matter objectively.

Every tuition Center is teaching their students how to plagiarise model essays. For Chinese essays it is outright word for word copy. Her only fault is promoting herself on their newspapers which triggered jealous responses
