The bump helmet let's you run Night vision and comms while being lighter kevlar helmets are over rated anyway if your in a overt combat scenario wearing body armor your being shot at by rifles that go straight through it . They are more too stop fragments from explosives not bullets

I know this is an old video but I just want people to be aware of your analogy, calling it a "tactical hard hat", does not mean it is rated for construction use. That being said I have spoken with the company and they are currently working on an ansi certified helmet and boy am I excited for that!

Are they berry compliant? I would use the bump for training stuff that doesn’t require 3a. but not the ballistic, would like to see what the back face deformation is like. It may stop a bullet but the helmet may end up embedded in your brain.
@tomsoki57384 жыл бұрын
NIJ ratings also include deformation requirements so if it’s actually tested and confirmed 3a then your brain will be intact even if shot with a 44mag

So the bump helmet is a M/L and the ballistic is L/XL ? I have a 23.5 head like you and would rather have the M/L any thoughts?
@danielbabcock70043 жыл бұрын
No the bump comes in M/L or L/XL You can message HHV on facebook and theyll tell you which one to get. 23.5 is the top end limit in size for the M/L

There’s a reason why ops core, team Wendy, crye cost so much. R&D, testing, engineering, etc. there’s a reason why those brand helmets are much lighter. They’re also made in the USA. That money goes right back into the pockets of US citizens. I don’t know about you but if you ever have to use a ballistic helmet for real and for long hours of use I don’t want to be saying “Gee, I’m glad I saved this much money by skimping out on something that meant to protect my brain or my life.” Saving a buck to get something in your hands faster doesn’t always mean it’s right

Noli Me Tangere well it depends on the angle I suppose, spalling is an issue regardless. In my case I took one dead center and about an inch above the bottom of the plate on the right side. The only thing I’m certain is armor saved me and I’m a huge advocate for it.

@quarterpounderwithcheese31783 жыл бұрын
I ask myself why I would need a bump helmet over a ballistic helmet and it goes back to the same philosophy of why I'd need a chest rig over a plate carrier. If I'm pulling a slow paced guard duty shift in a dangerous area or I'm in a frontal assault against an armed person or people, chances are I'm gonna need it. If I'm in the desert or flat hills or large rooms with no cover or concealment against armed combatants that can easily target me, chances are I'm gonna need it. If I'm gonna jump out of a car or truck, guns blazing in the street, without the need to worry about a pack to carry and just my main arm and side, chances are I'm gonna need it. But if I'm in a densely packed jungle, forest, suburban street area, and/or I'm backpacking with 30lbs of gear on me, and/ or I'm on a stealthy, hit and run, shoot and move, guerilla style tactical op, chances are all the extra 20-40lbs of ballistic gear are gonna go is slow me down and risk getting me killed. As a civvie, odds are you're not an armed security guard in the ghetto or a riot, kicking in doors of gangbangers or insurgents, or getting in an hours long gunfight on a 6 lane highway, so you don't need level V protection to soak up 50bmg gatling gun volleys against you like a literal bullet sponge. If you get ballistic protection as a non-combative civvie, it's to LARP. Plain and simple. Even in a crime filled area, dressing up like a COD Juggernaut is only gonna get you molotov cocktailed because you deserve it instead of doing what any normal person would do and just vacate the area.
@oakleave3 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree with you but with one caviat. Some people don't have the option to vacate a trouble area, at least, not quickly. Maybe they have to care for loved ones who may be elderly or have an injury or disability. You may even have to pass through a dangerous area to get to loved ones. Maybe you just didn't get the memo in time, but totally agree. Most civilians do get this for Larping, or for functional fitness training. Even law enforcement officers who get protective equipment have a statistically low probability of seeing a return on their investment which is a good thing. Although body armor is designed primarily for the military, it is protective gear. When not in the carrier, you can take one of those plates and put it in a back pack if live in a dangerous neighborhood, or if all goes to hell, you can take all your cool mall ninja gear that actually makes you look like a dork when your out of shape, and put it on loved ones to better protect them. That I think , may be worth the cheddar if you have it.
@ICEgoalieWARRIOR2 жыл бұрын
You're either over exaggerating for effect, or you've never worn modern body armor. Either way, anyone who knows anything about combat is probably going to ignore everything you said . smh.
