Appeal to their vulnerabilities with lowest denominator assurances, reinforce their belonging with community, and establish a common enemy to blame for all personal grievances. By the time they hit the really crazy stuff they're too brainwashed to question it. Have you ever tried to tell someone you know is intelligent who's in a cult that they're in a cult? Doesn't go well. I would assume those voting for him now on average got hooked before the most obvious crazy hit, and now they're in too deep to shatter the illusion. Just watch interviews where supporters bend over backwards to justify what he's saying, get angry when told about Biden's policies, only to double back and make excuses for it or just straight up shrug it off when told those were actually Trump's policies. They're far too emotionally invested in the idea they were sold to acknowledge the reality of the man. It's sad and disturbing, but it is very human. I empathize with them, but all I can really do is vote against them and hope the fever dies down long enough for their better senses to return to them, because they don't want to be convinced. After all, time spent away from a cult's influence is a key component of deprogramming a cultist. It doesn't last without constant reinforcement.

The economy may mean different things to different people. Prices went up with inflation, most of them don't come back down when inflation eases. But at the same time it spends two sentences that amount to "End inflation, make America affordable again." But you can't end inflation if you spend a lot of government money on building cities and flying cars. So it makes no sense. Excessive government spending is one of several causes of inflation!
