Thank you for sharing ❤! Could you also make an honest video on how to deal with stress and responsibility especially in the very beginning of residency, both general surgery (this must have been tough since it was a very big shift for one coming from school to the real world) and plastic surgery. I would appreciate it since I'm in the similar position. Kind regards and wishing you all the best and happy new year!

I very strongly recommend you don't leave your car keys near the front door like that. Car thieves can steal your car. With modern cars the car detects if the keys are in the car. Car thieves can use a device with an aerial, booster and transmitter to pickup the electronic signals from right outside your front door and make the car think the keys are in the car. If you get a metal biscuit tin next to your bed and just leave your car keys in that then the electromagnetic signals won't go far enough for the car thieves to detect.

It's good to know that you can still go into plastic surgery after general. You're a huge inspiration, especially being able to get everything done that you do on top of rigorous training. Could you do your talk more about your journey and if it's more challenging to get in or be accepted than if you went straight into a plastic surgery residency or a combined plastic + general?

My wife is Hopkins/Mayo trained. Rest lol There was no such thing. She couldn't say she was tired. I guess training is different now. Probably a good thing. Some chairman's are tyrants. She would have given anything for 4 hours of sleep. A lot of new plastics to make ends meat will do closings for faux Mohs (society trained vs College trained) surgeons. Some patients want plastics to close. That usually doesn't happen with College trained docs. Always a laugh when patients say "I like the other surgeon better he/she always does it in one layer and doesn't make me wait in the waiting room taking multiple layers" It takes some time to build up a practice so just an idea. Introduce yourself to the derms in your area also. Some patients insist on plastics for squeems and BCC's.

In New York there a Libby Zion law named after a patient who died after a resident who was exhausted gave inadequate care. I guess other states don’t do that.

Praise the lord. The people need to see the real lives of our surgeons and medical doctors and how they are mistreated. This is not safe. Verbiage in polices need to be clearly defined and the ones on the frontline should definitely define what adequate rest means. No one should have to give up their liberty, life no matter how skilled they are.
