To us, having been around since Smash was on the N64, Smash was originally abkut celebrating the greatest legacies of icons of innovation that go beyond a mass following. None of us were surprised by Cloud, Banjo, etc being in the game. But to us boomers Steve was literally "that blank slate guy that from the game that all the kids like but we dont care about". Thats why accordingly most of the guys who hate Steve's addition are oldheads (like me) and why a lot of newbies/kids are happy about it (of course because its a big part of THEIR early lives).

And well, the script is not even that good. Dialog heavy RPG's can still have good pacing and writing/dialogue like the Trails in the Sky games. In my personal opinion, this is my most hype DLC character, even taking into account Smash 4 characters. Not because Steve himself is some deep character, he's literally just an avatar, hell "Steve" is borderline a fan created name I believe. But I roll with this so hard because I legitimately like Minecraft a lot, even 10 years later. I think a lot of people see it being marketed to kids and see its simplistic graphics and immediately write it off as a game that lacks depths, but imo the complexity in several of the systems in the game is extremely deep, to the point where people are still discovering incredibly unique ways to exploit mechanics for farming and other creative things. If anybody's interested, I really recommend trying it out for yourself to pass judgement on it, it might just put its hooks into you and get you addicted for years to come. Also, Steve in Smash himself looks like he might just have one of the most intricate movesets of any character, and I haven't been this excited to try out a character's mechanics since Hero. I love how ridiculously stiff he looks; it's like they turned Smash Bros. into Minecraft instead of bring Minecraft into Smash Bros, it's hilarious.
