Rumour has it, that Les Paul was left trembling, could't feel it's legs and had to smoke a ciggarette after that. Seriously, you play with some feeling Dave, you can learn all the notes, techniques in the world, but that feel comes from within, and boy you have it.

Your joy is palpable Dave, and I now have a new object of desire (even though I use amp sims for economic reasons LOL). I think my neighbours would lynch me if I tried playing through a 100 watt amplifier, but from the sound of it, given the choice between playing safe, and playing through one of those Nextones, well I could do with the exercise (running from a bunch of irate neighbours is a good cardio-vascular workout).

If you got the standard Katana MK2 Ray, think about putting a Waza speaker in it. It is a big improvement over the stock speaker.
@Ray-Angel3 жыл бұрын
@@jeffroq Big Improvement in what way? More bottom? More mids? Breaks up sooner or later?
@jeffroq3 жыл бұрын
@@Ray-Angel - it's a fuller and clearer sound. There is more definition and note separation. I did a recorded A/B into a DAW using a loop, a couple of set patches and an identical mic set up. Could hear the difference and see it in the wave form, the Waza waveform was busier if that makes sense.
@Ray-Angel3 жыл бұрын
@@jeffroq thanks for the detailed reply. So often I ask a question like that and the answer is "it's just better." I'm not sure the speaker on my MKII 100 is fully broken in yet. Once it is I'll look into a speaker upgrade of I feel it's needed.

Do you or have you ever used an EQ pedal to tame an amp or get more out of any lacking frequency? Also, not sure how I missed this when it came out, but I was so close to buying this when it came out. Now I wish I did...however...I can probably now find one used for a good price in nearly to almost new shape? I actually like used stuff just as much as new...sometimes more it really depends. BTW man you kill it on guitar. I've been playing for a long time but I didn't pay as much attention to lead stuff till just a few years ago and have since been developing carpel tunnel and arthritis and it's a total bummer. I can feel my hands and fingers stiffen up and lose feeling as I play. It's frustrating. I used to play a few AC/DC leads when I was a teenager back in the 90's that were note for note and I was really fast...I'm probably half speed now, but I can improvise over any scale which I wish I learned when I was young. BOSS playing my dude! Keep it up. I love your enthusiasm with new gear. I can see you at a 100 years old doing a KZbin video with some crazy futuristic gear still being badass Dave! Peace and love from across the pond in The States.

Boss/Roland have been very clever for a long time, I've still got my old Bolt 60 from the early 80's, synthetic front end with 2 EC83'S in the output stage, thru' a 1 x 12 combo. Great pedal platform,.... But far too loud for my house. It's of no use to me really,...... But I couldn't sell it. How could I do that ? Some stuff can't be sold.

If I understand correctly, you have the power setting at the full 80 watts during this review. (How did your ears survive?) I can’t imagine doing so in anything smaller than some sort of hall sized room. Regardless, I have ordered this amp with the intention of using the .5 watt setting in my home studio. I’d like to hear what it sounds like at that power setting…. Thanks for your thorough review.
