I had never tried this before ... strat, lp all sound brilliant. Been giggin it for ages on 1 watt and volume at 4 + pedalboard for gain staging :)

You are so right about Fender nailing the purpose of this new amp. It is lighter, has a ton more features which are extremely useful than the tube version (which I used to have, but it died) The sound and feel of this amp are perfection. It is especially beautiful when playing an Epiphone Les Paul 100 through a VOX classic wah pedal into it.

I bought one of these and loved it at first, but eventually returned it. It sounded too sterile and digital (the reverb trails, etc., and it didn’t have the warmth and depth of the tube version when comparing side by side), but they may have updated the software and sound since, and the best way to judge this amp is on its own merits. It’s such a great concept that I hope Fender adopts with all of their classic amps. In any case, enjoyed the video, Dave, and glad you love it!

@@400_billion_suns I have one of these and at home play it on the 0.2 Watt setting, volume at around 5 + or - and my neighbours have not got up a petition to have me thrown out. Ok it would be nice to run at the volume at 8 + , but that would be too loud. But it gives the sound with low volume, unlike a valve amp that has to be working - or so they tell me :-) DI out for silent recording works brilliantly, albeit one has to check the signal amplitude into the recording device is not too great and thus distorting. It is a good home amp as well as for gigging.

@PeterDad603 жыл бұрын
Nobody can afford the gear we purchase but we keep getting new guitars and amps. I think once you find the guitar that is right for you then and only then can you stop purchasing the next guitar. But to compound that we also need an amplifier that becomes our voice and perhaps speaker cabs. Just last month I found my guitar a G&L ASAT Classic BluesBoy in Natural. It's a chambered Telecaster with one 'f' hole and it weighs less than 6 pounds. Small and light in weight, acoustic and electric-I enjoy the acoustic tones late in the night when all is quite and while I'm in our bed with my wife. It's loud enough to enjoy but not so loud as to awaken her. Being electric and a Tele makes it a great part of a favorite amp and speaker cab rig. I play her ight and day, everyday. -Peter age 71
@PeterDad603 жыл бұрын
P.S. I got my Monoprice/Stageright 15 watt/12" Celestion 70/80 8 ohm speaker in a white a white Tolex cab for $129.99 right after president trump got tough with China back in November 2017 or 2018. The Chinese panicked and they dropped their prices for a little while. That same amp is now going for $249 and has been at that price for a couple of years now. I like the amp and it fills the slot for a loud enough medium powered light weight amp very well. $129.99 wow the best bargain ever! You can enjoy your new amp for years to come. Don't overlook the 8/16 ohm speaker out jack because you can use this amp to power many different speaker cabs and that makes it very versatile indeed.

Who needs tubes when you can carry this around without breaking your back? Sounds spectacular too!
@davehebert34033 жыл бұрын
Yep -- it sounds great! I sometimes wonder if any of the commercial amp builders have started to use a switch-mode power supplies for their tube amps? With the added complication of such a thing, I would also wonder about road worthiness and reliability. This train of thought brings me to this question: would it be better to just deal with the weight of a tube and with a real transformer and a less-complicated circuit, which is easily fixed, or would it be better to to use a transistorized amp, save your back, and just fork over the cash if/when it breaks. I say "if" here because, for the most part, transistorized amps tend to be more reliable. (Shrug.)
@Allison_Chaynes3 жыл бұрын
I have a Deluxe with tubes. Trust me, it's a big difference. I'm not saying these don't sound good. They do. But it's like when a Chrysler 300 pulls up and you say, "Wow, that looks like a Phantom." And then a real Phantom pulls up and then you say, "OK, maybe it doesn't." And I'm not a tube snob. Most of the amps I own are solid state. But this year I decided to get a tube Deluxe, and it's just a different beast.

The valve Deluxe Reverbs don't really work daisy chained because the channels are out of phase with each other (something to do with the extra gain stage in the reverb channel compared to the non-reverb one). In theory this amp could be made with both channels in phase because it could be modelled that way, but for authenticity I wonder if they kept them out of phase?
