Can someone tell my wife 3 electric, 2 acoustic and a bass is not a lot of guitars
@jimboguitaro
@jimboguitaro 2 жыл бұрын
@@pads-zr9ln mate I do not think that is a lot! But I would say you could try negotiating the local EER (enthusiasm exchange rate). For example, does one guitar = three handbags or 6 pairs of shoes? Those are quite stereotypical "wife things" so I may be talking sh*te. But everybody is into something and often in the household, hobbies = harmony. Like all exchange rates values can go up and down, and trading can be a noisy affair. But! It's not a price comparison - more a passion comparison 😀

Dave shows us all what can be done with good, well set up instruments that "gear" snobs would turn their noses up on. Other than his Oswald's(BTW they are awesome Dave) the rest are what most of us have to work with. I salute you Dave on your nice collection of guitars. Thanks for showing us that playing well is not bought by tons of money or in a name brand stamped on a headstock. BTW Dave, you need another Strat!! LOL!! 😉🤣

Playing the Marlin upside down was out of necessity my oldman wanted to see if i would stick it out and i did. I have a modest left hand collection of about 14 Guitars and then my late fathers collection which is crazy with desirable vintages that he bought himself in the late 50's through to early 90's. Hey it's really easy to fix the string alignment on that Fender squire. Just back off the neck screws about a half turn then you can move the neck back and forth in the pocket until it's correctly aligned and tighten the screws again. You can loosen the strings a little but I never have to do that. I build guitars and repair them as well and I've had to do this to a bunch of Fender guitars. Don't worry it won't hurt the guitar at all and it will sound a lot better after you do it because the strings will be over the pole pieces where they belong. Hope you see this comment, nice collection by the way!

Man, I love your passion into music. It's awesome to see someone like you, who still cares more about just pure music, rather than just making music for fame. Also I have a question, I started playing guitar half a year ago. I wanted a gear similar to John's but budget-friendly of course :D So I bought Squier Classic vibe 60's strat and Katana 100 1. version. Do you think I made the right decision, or would you recommend me something else? Also I think of buying Ibanez WH10V3. Do you think it's good? Because I've seen some videos about it, and they say it's not as good as previous versions. But since the old versions are quite expensive, I'll have to stick with V3. Anyway thanks for your videos, you deserve way more subscribers, because your work is immense. I'm not a native speaker so I learned new word from this video, word immense :D An awesome education material

Hi Dave, Sorry for long messsage but if you do come across it, I love your 2002 Mex 60s reissue,. If I was getting a new guitar how would the new Vintera ii 60s Oly white stack up against yours? Im in the market for both a vintage and a modern instrument but not sure whether I want a Vinatge strat with a modern tele or a modern strat with a vintage tele haha. Either or would be great. Defo a Rory fan so the new AVri 61 strat ticks that box. Im very lucky to be fornutate to finally have saved enough to afford an American Vintage ii 1961 but for that money I am leaning on just getting the Vintera ii equivalent and then have al that money left over for a tele. (Love the Jason Isbell tele you demo'd in one of your videos btw) Anyways long story short what would ya recommend? - pull the trigger on the AVri 1961 or get the Vintera ii strat? Or go the other way completely and get a Pro ii Strat and cure my itch for a vintage spec instrument by saving up afterwards for one of the vintera ii teles. So many decisions haha. Vinatge strat with modern tele or modern strat with vintage tele? Love your channel. Favorite youtuber by a country mile.

15:48 a strap button bit higher placed is not a bad thing. I moved all buttons on my five guitars about 10-11cm up towards the arm rest, after I found out it hangs more comfortable on the strap, less neck heavy, not fighting the upwards angling of the neck and slightly tilted so I see the frets and my abdomen is stable imbedded in the belly cut. Try it out, you might like it. If you have stands, bare in mind measuring carefully the new place for the button, so they‘re not in the way. One guitar even got two strap buttons at the bottom, padded with some rubber inserts, simmetrical on both sides of the center line, so it has small feet to lean against the wall. Love your vids man! Keep it up! Cheers from Deutschland

Wonderful Collection, Dave! Hear ya loud & clear on not wanting to restring that 12-string acoustic. I have two of them. Restrung one about a month or two ago, and it's good for at least a year; probably two...lol. The other one is in dire need of restringing, and I must bite the bullet - soon. It's like weeding 40 acres of grass, but feels great once you're done.

Dave you are truly an inspiration. Some days I find myself looking at the guitar and not wanting to play because of how low-skilled I am. I look forward to being able to express myself on this instrument like yourself. Keep on playing, I will keep watching :)

Great collection man. You got some real gems in there. Couldn't help but notice a conspicuous absence of PRS. As a fellow Fender junkie and Strat lover with a limited budget (actually in 15 years was never able to bond with any hh guitar other than an hh Jag that now needs a complete electrics overhaul) I recommend you try the PRS SEs. I had Epiphones and ESPs lps, sent them all back to the store. Didn't like the feeling of the neck, humbuckers sound dead... A couple of years ago decided to try again and got a hardtail 22 fret PRS SE (a Paul's guitar), and it changed everything. Superb neck feel, very expressive pickups, got nothing bad to say about it. It's life changing. Something else I've been meaning to try out are the G&L strats, but haven't had the opportunity yet.

How are you hanging your guitars Dave, I've never noticed before? Is that just rope/string/shoelace tied and hung by the machine heads and hanging from a nail?? thats safe and works? That'll do wonders for me here if I dont have to make something or buy actual hangers

Good gravy Dave, I'm sure that i bought an Audition 12 string acoustic around 1972/3 (ish) from Woolworths in Mansfield, hated it, sounded awful but i kept it for about 15 years before it ended up in the dustbin but recently i have been looking for a Eko 12 string to go with my Ranger 6. Oh and by the way Dave nice collection of guitars.
