I love your Bravery Dave. Both as a guitar player and as a bloke. The bit of the jam after the backing track finished was just thrilling. I'm not a bad guitarist, really, and I can play my pentatonics and modal whatsits without making too many mistakes, but to use the techniques you did at the end and still not put a foot wrong (you don't play with your feet but you know what I mean!) is wonderful, inspiring and courageous. I maybe know why the wah with the zoom sounded like underwater, your tone knob on the left is all the way to the left and should be in the middle like your volume knob. It happen very often to me also , i'm like what's it's going on with my sound and i check and the tone knob is all the way down or the volume is. The way they made the knobs on this thing is really not a smart thing, hope that helped you. Keep it up, love all your hard work :)

Dave, I used to have an Ibanez Wah . It was grey and green,looking much like the one you have on your board.I don't recall which model it was, but it sounded ( to me) so god-awful that as I remember I gave it away.Now, maybe I had a bad one, but who knows.Back when I first started to have long jams with a bass player and drummer, I had an Italian built Wah called a "Strepitoso". It wasn't great but got me into strat into plexi Marshall with whammy dips and a New Zealand designed copy of a Watkins copicat, called a ZHolden tape echo. Along with a very moderate, only just distorted home made fuzz built by a mate of mine. With this I spent years annoying my neighbours with delayed scorching dive bombs and other noodling staples, so I get how you love using the pedal( which does sound better than the one I later had.I still have a wide pedal with a big white rubber matted Wah pedal, that also fuzzes and has a synthesised note you can alter the pitch of by using the pedal it even does this while doing its fuzz thing. It's a bit broken but the Wah still goes and you can alter the range of the Wah by using a different knob. This unusual contraption is or was Japanese- called the "synthesiser traveller" pedal. I hardly ever use it except for Wah but it is totally crazy and I intend to keep it.I'd just like to say I thought your playing in the early part of your performance here showed an increasing subtlety and beauty in your guitar playing; not that J didn't enjoy the ending but I just loved your playing more in the early part. Good to hear from you again and keep it up as the actress said to the bishop!

Great comparison! The V2 had sooo much more expression it seems than the black V1. I'm determined to get a Zoom G5n though because of its versatility and durability. As far as the Zooms tonal effect of sounding like it's under water, it's not so bad. The darker tone from the Zoom sounds like a cross between the V1 and V2. After this video I want to get both the V2 and Zoom like you have ( and the Jackhammer, and the Ds2, and the Governor and the HX... ). ✌️💖
@jorge.az074 жыл бұрын
Actually I love more the V2,because it's a gainier version of the V1,on a hard enclosure (so it won't break),and of course,because it costs an arm and a leg less than the v1 I have a Zoom G1xOn,an older version of the G5,that has a WH10 model,it sounds dead on,but I would love to be able to use it as a single digital effect unit,instead of having all that bulk in my board

Basically, you've said all I was thinking. v1 against v2, I liked the v2 better. It had more output intensity, better depth, and construction. And they're easier to come by. And I could dial in a v1 sound with the v2 but not the other way around. Now, how does a Weeping Demon stack up?
@anolusstepputat48704 жыл бұрын
I have two V1s (gray) and one V2. The boost was the same at all three pedals, but to me the V1s (gray) have a more differentiated sound. The V2 is a bit too fizzy in comparison. One of the V1s potis broke down a few months ago :-( I would go for a V1 (gray)

I only know the V1 gray version so far - and it has LOADS of boost... you can't stand it using in front of a clean amp! Combined with the Jackhammer (as you prefer it) or the pulled out Input Gain Poti on the original Silver Jubilee (what I use to get it work at room level volume) it sounds like heaven... Besides I wonder if the V2 could be even "boostier" than this... Someday I´ll try out to compare these two and let you know about the outcome.

I also had that same issue but then I switched to Dave Jackhammer setup. My advice which I extremely recommended; use the acoustic channel (volume and sound 100, bass 0, mid 40 and treble 0) and get yourself a Marshall Jackhammer with Dave's settings. I'm using a 2010 squire CV stratocaster (with the original Tonerider pickups) and it sounds 99.9% like John.

Getting nerdy, looking at the schematics there is some differences between v1 and v2, with some filtering at the input and output on the v2 that isn't on the v1. And slightly more resistance at the input of v1 because of the filtering setup. Pretty simple mod to make them technically identical, though obv really minor differences like type of caps/resistors and value drift could still make a difference.
