Possibly too early to get the wish-list going for Reason 12 but... Here's an idea: What if mix channels/audio tracks in the rack had a button that allowed you to show/hide them in either the sequencer or mixer. I feel like that would legit be a useful feature.🤔

My preferred workflow atm is to just run Maschine live at all times and automate scene changes using MIDI events. In that way I can do the majority of the mixing/effecting on the unit itself and then route things to their own outputs if they need it (like if I wanna sidechain instruments in Reason with a kick from Maschine). I've only just started doing this though! Had the Maschine sat on my desk for a couple of years now wondering what to do with it but as a groovebox and drum machine it's really something. Way quicker to get great sounding beats in that than Kong for me.
@matthewstuartnz4 жыл бұрын
Yo that sounds like a dope idea! How do you automate the scene changes using MIDI events?
@PaulOrtiz4 жыл бұрын
TheDavidAgenda just go to the preference of Maschine once you’ve loaded it as a plugin, and there’s an option to trigger scenes with midi :) it starts from C-2 I’m pretty sure. Just keep scene 1 as blank, and then C-2 becomes your “stop” command.

Yo this sounds awesome! Thanks, I'm definitely going to give this a go! 🙏🏻

@@PaulOrtiz Hi Paul - This sounds like the way I would prefer to use the Maschine. I'd like to use it mostly as a virtual instrument with the Scenes corresponding to song sections. I can't find the automation path you're using. Have you done a video where you do this? I see your channel but don't see anything specific here. If you do a video on this I'm almost certain it will be popular and useful - seems like the best way to integrate Maschine into Reason.

Thanks for doing these videos, i bought maschine a couple of weeks ago and have been struggling to learn it and integrate it with reason.

Lol Two years later, I the 8 output issue still isn’t resolved 😂 Hey, is there a way to capture the midi w/sound from maschine into reason. I can’t seem to get it to capture midi with sound like a standard vst instrument. It would be cool it it can. Thanks for the vid
@matthewstuartnz2 жыл бұрын
Oh I don't know. 🤔 Can you capture the midi in Maschine and drag it into Reason? Not quite what you were asking but it might be a workaround?
@Pauluz_The_Web_Gnome3 жыл бұрын
Hi David.. Cool video! Question though...What do you under your Keyboard, to tilt it? Thank you in advance! I use a towel, but it doesn't raise enough! and is unstable! I want to tilt it because Native Instruments forgot the tilt mechanism for the displays! :D
@matthewstuartnz3 жыл бұрын
Lol I'm actually using my Propellerhead Reason and Record box from when I first got into Reason 😂 You're right though, I wish it had a tilt mechanism.
@bibik445 жыл бұрын
You can group similar Maschine tracks to the same outputs for example 1 kicks, 1 snares, 1 cymbals etc. to finally use only 8 outputs. Eventually use second maschine instance or bounce individual audio from maschine to reason.
@matthewstuartnz5 жыл бұрын
True. Those would be some valid workarounds. I guess I didn't really think of that as I kind of want to be able to play and use my whole Maschine projects in one instance. However, you could totally do that if you were just getting sounds out.

Yes... I think it does. Didn't I show this in the video? Sorry, it's been a while and I'm mainly use the Reason Rack Plugin inside Ableton now.

I Use Reason too what would u suggest to use it with .mpc or maschine or even launchpad . and. alsoa keyboard too I found out about nektar p6 it look like a really realy cool midi conroller for reason
@matthewstuartnz4 жыл бұрын
The p6 is an incredible controller for Reason! I used to have one. It was great. I only got rid of it because it doesn’t integrate well with Ableton. Launchpad has some interesting mappings but is limited. The drum pads on the p6 though are not great. I haven’t tried the MPC with Reason but the Maschine is dope (and you can use Maschine standalone). If you want a keyboard, I would get the p6. If you want to do finger drumming I would get Maschine. Hope that helps!
@Anci3ntRobot4 жыл бұрын
TheDavidAgenda thanks man yeah sure that helped ! Cause Im not a finger drummer . Probably i Better of with a p6 !
@matthewstuartnz4 жыл бұрын
Yea man, if you're primarily looking for a keyboard the P6 is fantastic! It's got all the premium things you want in a MIDI controller too (like aftertouch, etc).The motorised fader is also a game-changer! There are a couple of minor workflow things to keep in mind when you're using the motorised fader. So if you get one and get stuck, just let me know!

Hey Dave, long time no talk, Haven't seen any new videos from you in awhile. Last time we talked was about the Logitech master mouse if Im correct on that its been awhile. Anyway, speaking of recording gear I noticed this time you are using a new computer keyboard. did you get rid of your apple keyboard and why?
@matthewstuartnz5 жыл бұрын
Hey Ivan, good to hear from you! Yea, I ended up taking somewhat of a break over Christmas. However, I am aiming to be doing one video every week from now. 🙌🏻 I still have the apple Keyboard (you might be able to see it in the background of that video). I got rid of it because I wanted something bluetooth so I could free up a USB port on my dock. Also, I liked the aesthetic of the one I got (Keychron K2). Unfortunately, though I have been have all kinds of issues with the bluetooth connectivity and I haven't heard back from the company yet so we'll see what happens there... I don't actually mind the apple keyboards though. It's been a little strange getting used to having so much key travel on this new one.

Currently, in Reason, VST's can only have up to 16 mono or 8 stereo outs to the host. Again, I'm no expert but my hunch is that it is related to "older" VST2 implementation practices based on older limitations of the VST2 standard itself. Of which apparently is not the case anymore in version 2.4 of VST if it is leveraged by the host. Not really an issue with VST3. Basically, it has to do with the VST standard that was implemented and actually isn't a Reason specific issue per se. Even if Reason was updated, the plug-in might still have to be updated as well. I'm speaking of plug-ins in general, not Maschine specifically as you indicate that it works as expected in Live. AFAIK, the Maschine plug-in is still VST2.4. (2.4 does allow more I/O than 16m or 8s though) Just trying to offer a bit of insight as to why the limitation of outputs. The music biz hasn't all completely caught up to one another for various understandable reasons from what I've read. Sweetwater has a bit of a rundown on the differences between the VST2.4 and VST3 formats. It does mention the I/O limitations of the older format being exactly 16 mono or 8 stereo pairs so there must be some truth in what I'm saying? www.sweetwater.com/insync/vst-2-4-vs-vst-3-0-who-cares-you-do/ Cheers!
