The majority of Bethesda characters are stereotypes, not archetypes. All to do about them is rooted off consonants and plays on words rather than understandable human motivations. Hell, most villains of the stripe sound just like Shakespeare's kings, speaking in the same pompous, characterless tone. It's absurd. Fallout: New Vegas had less dry characters, but it's remembered more fondly because it was written to be a plot of steel, that will endure the test of time.

The 1911 pistol was almost 100 years old when New Vegas released, it is so interesting to see the pistol design continue (as it inevitably has already) into the future. The fact that it is nearing 400 years old in the New Vegas lore and has passed into tribal tradition is utterly fascinating.

.451, 11.43x23, or my personal favorite 45 Automatic Colt Pistol, is meant to bring anything two legged and a threat down. I carry a FS 1911 as well, and even if folks carry polymer pistols bc of size and capacity, the 1911 is always venerable in its simplicity, ease of function, accurate if trained and used correctly. You can always carry a bigger mag for more capacity (10 rounds of .45 will do for me), and for size, well you can always pick up a commander,and still use your FS mags but with a smaller barrel. There are a good bit of guns I may regret wasting money on, but my 1911 is worth every penny. God bless, and shoot straight

Religion is but one of many examples of how lazy(and cowardly) Bethesda's writers are when it comes to sensitive topics. "Hurr durr let's worship some undetonated warheads and radiation cause it's the apocalypse!" Let's not also forget the All-faiths chapel in Diamond City, which served no purpose and had no good reason to even exist. Like why even make an attempt if this is how safe and asinine you're going to be with religion in your games? Meanwhile over here in New Vegas and we got one of the best videogame christian characters ever, Caesar and his Cult of Mars which he's adopted from trying to imitate his historical counterpart, Super Mutants that still worship 'the Master' from Fallout 1 and some of the Tribals still worshipping their 'Father in the Cave,' who turns out was a hidden protector of the valley for decades after the bombs fell in order to preserve the innocence of the natives.

Indeed it is good in a sense that The Courier is thrown into conflict of equal parties and can influence who wins it. I personally think Joshua Graham never got over his desire to have his rage be rage of God and he killed Salt-Upon-Wounds, but it happened in battle. He remained figure firmly on Sorrow's side yet still something they rightly feared. His personal demons were at least appeased and without new threat they remain dormant.
@joaogarcia61702 жыл бұрын
I never saw in Joshua bloodthirst, or dishonest, quite the contrary he seems to be quite a straight walking individual, he never takes advantage of anyone. He spreads the word, yes, but he never forces the tribes to do so, they do it of their own will and not only that he seems so grateful that they took him back after all that he had done, the love that he mentions. The way i see it the white legs were violating not only the laws laid by god but also the physical integrity and life of any man just for the sake of it, if one were to be consistently he could not deny death as an appropriate sentence for himself after subjecting another individual to it, salt-upon-wounds' killing was, by his own actions, valid.

I read the New Testament back-to-front, took my time at it, read it off-and-on, took between around 2017/18 until earlier this year 2021. If you're more dedicated than I am, though, and stick with it on a daily basis, even if it's just a chapter a day (biblical chapters tend to be pretty short, a couple pages or so), you can be through the New Testament in short time. Indeed my NT copy, even with Psalms and Proverbs, is very much pocket-sized (I carried it in a back pocket of my jeans). Copies without Psalms/Proverbs would be even more compact. New Testament is based around Jesus Christ's experience and the events that occurred later on with his Apostles. It was largely written by Saint Paul (after the testimonies of Matthew/Mark/Luke/John) whom initially seemed to hate Christianity and sought to prosecute Christians, but was visited by Christ after His crucifixion/death and ultimately converted. So Paul (who's Jewish name was Saul), though he initially was an enemy to the followers of Christ, became one of the most active preachers of His teachings, specifically seeking to spread the word in the land of the Gentiles (non-Jews, like myself) which is why he mostly went by his Latin name Paul instead of his Hebrew name Saul. Old Testament is centuries older, written far before Christ, it seems to be the dominant text of Judaism and allegedly prophesied the messiah's coming. I've finished Genesis and am working on Exodus. If you've seen the '90s DreamWorks film The Prince of Egypt, then elements of Genesis/Exodus will be familiar to you. That movie, in at least several ways, was quite faithful to the Old Testament. I was told by an Anglican priest, in regards to reading the Bible, that you should first read the New Testament and then read the Old Testament through the lens of Christ's teachings. This seems accurate, especially in relation to modern Western values. An example of this is that in the Old Testament it instructs that if a man lies with another man as he would a woman, they should both be put to death. Not exactly pro-LGBT, and in the West we are probably the most pro-LGBT in the world. I myself am bisexual, and I can freely state that without fear of legal prosecution or physical harm. Read of Sarah Hegazi of Egypt (an Islamic nation) though, whom fled to my nation of Canada for protection but ultimately committed suicide reportedly due to her past traumas she experienced for waving a rainbow flag at a concert, and you will see just how safe and privileged LGBT people are here. I digress, Christ preached non-violence, and when faced with someone about to be put to death via stoning, he stated "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone," which itself may have gone against Old Testament teachings depending on why that person (I think a woman) was going to be put to death. I hope this helps. Read the good book in whatever voice you want, but I hope you come to know Christ, and furthermore I hope you accept Him as your lord and savior. Any who does so and accepts that he was crucified, died for your sins, and was resurrected, will themselves be granted eternal life and will be given a place in Heaven. In theory, yes, you could accept Christ in this manner and sit on your laurels, living as sinless a life as you can while praying forgiveness for your sins. You will go to Heaven. You should not be lazy though. Be as generous as you possibly can, do good, be selfless, be fearless in your Christian acts, fearless even to the point of being prosecuted for being a Christian. The apostles were jailed frequently, allegedly even whipped frequently, many were even put to death such as Saint Stephen whom I think was crucified upside-down. If a Christian is told that they will be killed immediately unless they turn their back on Christ, the correct response from a Christian is to refuse, even if it means their death. There is also no love stronger than to die in the effort to help/save a friend. Personally I struggle with some of this, after all, I believe in self-defence with deadly force, especially when it comes to a father/husband protecting his wife/children. That, technically, might not be Christian even though elements of the Old Testament supports the death of a breaking-and-entering thief if it is at night, though it might have to be accidental. Bah, this comment is dragging on quite long, I'll end it here, and as mentioned I hope it helps. Jesus Christ loves you and died for you, whoever may be reading this.

I like how he makes reference to Browning who designed the 1911, and he was also Mormon like Graham, referencing browning as "One of his people." who designed the 1911 and had been designing it for probably a good decade or so before it was adopted by the US Military, which in Fallout timeline the late 1800s to early 1900s was almost 400 years ago.

@condensedman Жыл бұрын
I think what struck out the most about Graham was how different he is compared to Daniel. Aside from the burn marks and his background as a legate, Graham and Daniel do share quite a few things in common, but what separates them is how they treated people. Daniel treated the Sorrows kindly, but he did so out of selfish reasons as way of penance for bringing New Canaan's troubles onto them. He also treats them as if they're children, and it rubs me the wrong way as this was the way which Christian missionaries used to approach indigenous and colonised peoples -- always acting from a position of moral and spiritual superiority. Graham is different. He taught the Dead Horses how to do many things as a means of protecting them. Whether he did so out of his own volition or as part of his missionary work is debatable, but I think it's the former since missionaries, like Daniel, would rather advocate for more peaceful options. In other words, he treated them not as 'subjects' that needed to be brought to the light, but as people, with their own dreams, fears, and ambitions. And it is through his deeds that people flock to him and to God for guidance. Graham is selfish, but he does not do so out of a position of 'moral superiority' like Daniel, who thought that he had a responsibility to keep innocence of the Sorrows as penance for dumping New Canaan's problems to them. He is selfish because he thirsts for revenge, which almost leads him astray until the Courier convinces him not to shoot Salt-Upon-Wounds, at which point, he realises that God's work had been completed. He's very much human. That's why I always preferred the ending over the other endings.

I don't try to talk Joshua down. The White Legs are horrible and would not stop, so I say yes, kill them all. They would not stop after being warned and came again and again and when their intended targets decided to fight back, they got what they deserved. Of course, that's determinant on whether the player decides to side with Joshua or Daniel, but having played both ways and know what happens, I fully side with the man who wants to fight the White Legs. Yes, the Dead Horses and Sorrows become violent in the process, but the world of Fallout is an unforgiving place and they need to learn how to protect themselves from future attacks by other tribes like the White Legs.
