FINALLY........and the wait was worth it!! This whole concert is just like this. 2 down, 13 to go. Please don't make me wait so long. I celebrated my 74th birthday a week ago. Last Ride of the Day is the show closer. That should be your last reaction of this concert. They put up credits for the production...everyone connected to the show. The Bus Drivers get mentioned. This band does EVERYTHING right. Please do more Nightwish. You deserve it, and I'm not getting any younger!

GLS got a 9.8?! S**t, you're gonna have to revise your scoring system when you see Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth!!!! Great reaction as ever Dave, loved your enthusiasm and your appreciation of the music. What makes me chuckle is the thought that a lot of those 82,000 people probably bought their tickets when Annette was still in the band, but how lucky they were to see Floor (and the band) absolutely smash it!

"Romanticide" from this concert has a great guitar solo and is another monster track from them. It's interesting that Nightwish, unlike many metal bands, does not have guitar solos in most of their songs, but Emppu is always doing really interesting lead and rhythm work throughout each song, with his priority being serving the song the best he can instead of showing off.

And that is how you open a show and introduce 82,000 to your new singer. Can't go wrong from there. If I was that impressed would have given more than 9.2 !! Nightwish does have an amazing lighting crew and pyro engineers. Might find them listed at the end of the concert after Last Ride Of The Day at this concert. I know you only listen to Patreon members but if someone suggests Sahara with Troy on E bow and some bass to the front at Tampa it is excellent.

David, I love watching your Nightwish reactions so much! I love how you break everything down and explain things in a way that someone with little to no musical background, like myself, can understand. From the very first time I experienced the live performance of Ghost Love Score at this very concert, I have been in love with this band. They grabbed ahold of my soul and tattoed their names on my heart. I never really fully understood why I formed such an emotional connection with their music so quickly, other than the fact that I love listening them. Listening to you break down each performance definitely helps me to have a clearer understanding as to why I will be a Nightwish fan for the rest of my life. Thank you for what you do. I look forward to more 🤘

yes "the General" as you say is definitely a world-class act to be sure. If I may share with you some details that amaze me about her: she joined Nightwish at the tail-end of their American tour on October1 and was given 48 hours to learn their setlist and finished America, then Nov. to U.K. and Finland, Nov-Dec. Latin America, then Jan. 2013 Australia, and May Asia, then June-July to Finland, Norway and the Swiss THEN hit Wacken 2013 I only say this because what amazes me is that "command Presence" you talk about cause yes she has it and you can see she loves the fans and they love her back, but the majority of those fans didn't even know her, but you couldn't even tell, fantastic

I have played concerts and when done I was exhausted. I have never put this much energy into a performance. The energy of this band is out of control. Talking about show openers, Nightwish knows how to shift gears. In Buenos Aires 2018 during the Decades tour, the show starts with just Troy sitting on his stool (he was the king in "Noise") playing "Swanheart" first with the low whistle, then switching to the pipes. After that mellow intro the band walks onstage and hits them with "End of All Hope".

Again excellent video and response David. What I like and one of the reasons I follow your channel is that you are emotional and very frank. Although you don't let your emotions drive your grades, which is actually key for me. I was at this concert by pure chance. I was invited by friends and they took me to the concert. The crowd just exploded on this song. There was no one who did not sing, even if he did not know the lyrics. Including me. This is probably one of the most exciting moments of my life. After the song ended, the standing ovation was incredible. I have been to other big band concerts, but what I saw at this concert was exceptional. We all wanted to be on stage, just like you.

Sidenote: Every time the festival kicksoff, the Village Firefighter Band plays a Classical March Song to officially opens the show and all Heavy Metal fans Headbanging to the Firefighters 😁

Lighting and pyro would be performed by their own crew. Many of their crew members have been with the band a very long time and there is a close relationship between band and crew. Some of their productions are huge. In the comments section of "Greatest Show on Earth" at Tampere, one guy detailed the effort that went into the show as he was part of the construction crew. He said there were about 50 crew for the show and another 50 in construction. They do the European festival tour with over 50 crew and management.

I'm sure people already mentioned this, but Floor's happy boss-entrance and the cheer of the crowd are extra special here, because this is likely the first time everyone there was seeing her with the band after she took over mid tour some months before. And just by some internet snippets and (sadly) quite some negativity against her presessor Anette everyone was expecting great things. And got them, indeed. This energy carries the whole show. Dark Chest of Wonders as opener, and the inclusion of Ghost Loce Score in the set at all were both changes to the original tour - and a (for many welcome) throwback to the last tour with Tarja, before Anette took over, who never really could do justice to the operatic Tarja material.

You seriously need to do “Sons of Winter and Stars” Live at Sonic Pump Studio by Wintersun. Kai Hahto is their drummer (and currently drumming in Nightwish) and their bassist, Jukka, is currently filling in on bass in Nightwish as well. This song is over 10 minutes long, it’s an epic masterpiece! This shit will blow you away!

Great thing about being late to your party is that now I can binge watch all the Nightiwish songs you did without the wait in between reactions! 😁 I'm really happy when people/musicians like you discover Nightwish. Love your presentation, enthusiasm and knowledge! What can one say about Nightwish, absolutely legendary band and my favorite of course. Yeah, Jukka, the drummer, was amazing, he was a nuclear reactor, so glad I caught his drum stick in 2004 concert, it is still right next to me in my room. Sad he had to go but I'm more than happy it is Kai who replaced him. Can't wait to jump onto the next video in your Nightwish journey right away.

Great reaction David. It's great to listen to a competent musician with real intelligence discussing the fine details of how this band operate. Every song from this concert is great. Obviously there are some which are a little more standard than others but even they are great in the context of the whole concert. Loved your analysis and enthusiasm for Nightwish. They really are extraordinary and their repertoire extends a long way beyond this concert but this is a great place to start. I'm looking forward to hearing more from you.

Back to the beginning is fine with me my friend. Showmanship! Love you commentary and breakdown of this great opener. This is not the best Nightwish song. It is just an up tempo in your face rocker with lots of drama and bombastic lights and pyro show. We all get emotional physical responses from this amazing band. Loved your video David. Wait until you see and hear the last song! "The Last Ride of the Day"! Thank you Insolent Umbrella!

Matti Leinonen - Light Designer. It's in the credits. I've too been waiting for another Nigthtwish reaction. If someday pop ups "The Poet and the Pendulum", that's the only one I advise you to do a previous research about the history of the song, in order to better understand the lyrics and mood around all the performance. I'm a Nightwish fan, and I love all their songs. But this one is my favorite, and I'm glad I did the research before I lesson it for the first time. The emotions were greater.

Nice video, once again I really enjoyed it a lot. I look forward to what comes next. This song has been the opening song on Nightwish on three tours. In 2004, Nightwish released their fifth album "Once" and this was the opening song in it. It was also the first album the London Philharmonic Orchestra was involved in and they have since been on all the albums since. Also Tuomas' solo album. Concert tours where this served as the opening song: 2004-2005, 2007-2009 and 2012-2013. In 2015, their eighth album came out and there came a new song as the opening song. "" Shudder Before the Beautiful "", from there if you want to make a video, then watch Wembley Arena 2015. It was also the first time Nightwish performed at Wembley Arena, sold out 12,500 fans. And that feeling and sound when they start ... Sounds like the whole Wembley Arena is exploding. If you are interested, then in 2015 Marko introduced his new double neck bass + BOSS ME-50B and sound with three short videos, all in less than 3 min. Part 1: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sH7PipiMisufra8 Part 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ol6vh2qmjsakhZo Part 3: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqrTpoWMq7-Fjpo Or, can you make a video of these too and share your opinion with us?

Perfection! Loving this! Thank you for showing some love to the lighting guy and the pyrotechnics guy. For this Imaginaerum tour Matti Leinonen designed the lights. He normally works with opera houses in Finland and internationally. The pyro tech for this tour was Markku Aalto. He too is a top-notch professional with a tasteful use of pyrotechnics that work well with the music. 💥🔥🤘🤘

And about time, too! :o) But, that 'zig-zag' pattern, behind you, was VERY intrusive, and looked like it was part of the video, which it wasn't! :o( Most reactors, not all, manage to show their video without their background showing through the video! But, on the upside, nice to see you speechless (and blubbering), yet AGAIN! lol Have you actually sat down, in your own time, and watched the whole concert, Dave? Ur in for a treat, when you do! :o) And Jukka is on drums, and Emppu was on guitar. To remember his name, think M-Pooh. And for the concert, Matti Leinonen was the Light Designer, and from Nightwish's Production Crew, Stefan Schmidtmann was Light Tech, Kay Kruger was Light Assistant 1, Markus Fichtler was Light Assistant 2, and Bastian Hoge, Light Assistant 3. No Dale. :o)

My expectation for your reaction to this song was also very high after the GLS one. I am human as well. And your reaction exceeded my expectations as well 😎 I‘ll give you a 9.4 for it: Your energy and passion are so great to watch. And I know the feeling of tearing up when seeing shows like this. As a concert photographer I do miss being in the pit and on the stage as well as hell. Knowing the names of the drummer Jukka and the guitar player Emppu it would have even been a 9.5 ;-) Yes, they put a lot of thoughts into their setlist design. You can see this also when having a look at the also perfectly fitting opener from Wembley: „Shudder before the beautiful“. And also the last song from Wacken is a perfect banger: „Last ride of the day“. And this not only due the the perfect title: A high speed and highly energetic song to let the crowd happy and exhausted go home. Like others commented already, this is a perfect opener, but -from my very subjective point of view- definitely not one of their top songs. On the top there are beside the epic 3 (Ghost Love Score, The Greatest Show on Earth and my favorite „The Poet and the Pendulum“) songs like Weak Fantasy (Tampere), The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (Buenos Aires), 7 Days to the Wolves (Wembley), Song of Myself (Wacken), Ever Dream (Wacken), Yours is an Empty Hope (Wembley), …

At that time Floor was in the band for about 10 months, she still was a guest singer, and this show was her biggest one ever, also recorded for a live dvd. She said she was obviously nervous. Can you believe someone in this situation walking in that way to the microphone and perform like this? About the little Marco spotlight, if you will continue jour NW journey (hopefully a little faster, still waiting the song "Yours is an empty hope" you posted a poll months ago), I promise you he will blow your mind, calling Marco a bass player is the biggest understatement ever...but I don't tell you why, you need to discover yourself. This is one of my preferred songs by them, well one of many, and one of the greatest opening ever. Nice reaction, I enjoyed you liked this too, and still waiting the biggest ones to see if that 9.8 leave you enough margin.
