Wait every month for your Tool reactions. Nobody puts the analysis down like you do. Tool tracks are like 5 songs in one. They give so much to enjoy. Like Stinkfist a lot and agree about The Grudge, The best rock song I have ever heard.

Also, best album. The vibe oozes on this one. The imagery, the darker music/production and more aggressive vocals. Just the best.

Great rating! I'd probably declare it a 9.0 myself! In terms of sheer longevity, I would say it's one of my top 10. All these years later and it still sounds fresh and gets me moving when I hear it come on. You almost can't RESIST bobbing at least your head to it. So infectious. It's one of the most compact and concise songs they've ever created. Just pure great songwriting. Doing more with less. Interestingly enough, I'd probably say The Grudge is my all time favorite Tool song as well, followed super closely by Lateralus and Reflection. Hell, I guess I just love the Lateralus album so much.

This was a great reaction video. I watch a lot of these types of videos and most people don't break it down like you did. I'm a musician so I appreciate the breakdown of the time signatures. I would agree with you that The Grudge is my favorite Tool song with this being close behind.

When i first heard tool i started with undertow and once i was finished with that album i moved on to the next album aenima and the first track on the album was stinkfist. I realised they were changing their sound enormously and i fell in love with them even more. This is the bridge between early and tool and lateralus tool. Stinkfist really made me a strong fan of tool and is in my top 5 songs by them. Another great video david 👏

Danny plays the intro fwiw. If you listen to the end of the song it sounds like his normal percussion samples - they've just been extremely distorted.

The last pre chorus can be also 3/4x2-4/4-3/4x2-4/4 I think, but I 'm still learning to count. This song seems easy but it has so many changes. Beautiful

The song is about, lets say, "sexual exploration." But in a general sense, I see it as "living life." "I don't want . I just need it. To breath. To feel. To know I'm alive."

I disagree with you. There was no 5/4. The second chorus went 6/4, 6/4, 6/4, 7/4, 4/4, 4/4, then into the 4/4 bridge. And the 6/4 4/4 at the end of the bridge started on the quiet part “but how can this mean anything to me…”
