Not at all, he is hardly going to say anything which could undermine his peers. I like how he also danced around the idea of money supply without offering any other important factors which could also affect inflation.

What does this say about our economy if we can’t have rates above zero? What a joke
@jackwalsh146821 сағат бұрын
There should have been absolutely NO Fed Rate Cuts. Period, full stop. I disagree with Jim Bullard on most of what was presented here. I'm hearing Academic/Economist rationales and not hard core banking practices. Let the market set the interest rates.
@zackelliott723019 сағат бұрын
The market is irrelevant, the government doesn't need to borrow the currency it issues. The bond market exists to drain excess reserves from the banking system so Central Banks can hit their overnight interest rate target.
@jackwalsh146819 сағат бұрын
@zackelliott7230 Your only fractionally address the bigger issue. If the U.S. Government want to subsidize a particular market. So be it for the benefit of the citizens and businesses. As for the investment sector. Let the markets set interest rates.
@dvaritek43444 минут бұрын
If the market sets interest rates then monetary risk would climb during turbulent times. The whole point of the Fed is to provide liquidity during a downturn to prevent a great depression. Funny thing is the fed was created in 1913 and the great depression happened soon after. Whoops

The Federal Reserve's 50 basis point rate cut sparked a mixed market reaction, with initial gains giving way to caution, as investors weighed the boost to economic growth against concerns the Fed may be "behind the curve" in addressing weakening labor markets and potential recession.
@GibsonJames-gr3on14 сағат бұрын
Rate cut is a GREEN LIGHT for stocks! Fed's move will boost economic growth, and we'll see a significant rally in Q4. Time to buy the dip!
@ThomasColt14 сағат бұрын
Rate cut may provide temporary relief, but underlying economic issues remain. Labor market softening, yield curve still inverted. Proceed with caution
@SeanJohns-ze8ie14 сағат бұрын
Everyone's celebrating, but I'm selling. Rate cut signals Fed's concern about economy. Time to reduce exposure, not increase it.
@John-ww2fv14 сағат бұрын
Rate cut's impact will be muted. Fiscal policy, not monetary, drives growth now. Focus on gov't spending, tax reforms, and global trade
@OwenFlex14 сағат бұрын
Rate cut or not, I'm staying the course. Long-term growth driven by fundamentals, not short-term rate moves. Diversify, dollar-cost average, and patience wins.

Job growth was "stunningly positive" in 2022 - due to all the automatic re-hiring after the pandemic shut down passed. So, to say growing employment numbers were the reason the recession wasn't announced is very near-sighted.

I think his perspective on recession is way off. We currently have a national unemployment rate over 4%, and with no real correction occurring due to government spending, real wages haven't kept up with inflationary conditions. This is a serious oversight that will dramatically cause problems in generating liquidity.

I cant believe you didnt ask the most important question that gold bugs talk all day and night...Is the FED powerless in raising interest rates given the US debt level? Isnt that the whole gold bug theory around USD collapse, i.e. inflation will go even higher, FED will have to increase the rates further but they won't because US debt levels are too high, did the FED corner itself? Very disappointed

The belief that the Federal Reserve would stop raising interest rates was the driving force behind the entire economic chaos. What should we do now that we have a situation where interest rates are crashing? At this point, how would you suggest that I safely allocate $300k?
@Fred-w7t3 сағат бұрын
Although the market is currently volatile, aren't the current valuations a result of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy and low interest rates? Therefore, my recommendation is that you consult a finaencial advisor who can give you entry and exit points for the shares that you are interested in.

How people who work for the Fed, still can be so confident in their analysis and predictions makes me really wonder. This institution suppose to have the power to balance employment and price stability. So now look to the past 25 years and tell me how many economic crises did we have and where are the prices today? There are here for nothing, but to protect this fraud system.
