The bungled response, at the federal level, was deliberate. The profiteering by hand picked Trump favorites had to be arranged first. Congresspeople had to withdraw certain personal investments and make other stock purchases. Trump had to get all that free TV time, much of it displaying an empty podium, before any appropriate public health measures were taken. The MAGA cult had to be sold phony cures so bogus ads had to be designed. That took a little time, you see. Meanwhile, ER staff wore garbage bags as protective gear and bodies stacked up in refrigerator trucks. Never forget.

I've been recommending it to readers for a good while now as so much of the things I have been seeing in our current U.S. and global political scenes have reminded me of how the most remembered fascist movement was allowed to expand across so much of the world. Right now the world's key authoritarian leaders are coming together more and more. They also collectively hold most of the world's nuclear arsenals. Trump admires these people and has maintained communication with some of them. This is not something that ought be dismissed.
