Thanks for this in-depth episode on the Cab06. I have had mine for over a year now and love it. I have a hard to access area on my layout which makes this perfect for switching.

Thanks Larry good explanations. However you left out the control of accessory functions ie, turnouts that's also available on this cab.

Nice and informative video. I do wish ESU would send you a CabControl for review. The CabControl has had all these features for quite a while and is intuitively simple. It also has built in wifi and a touch screen control, along with a much larger dial type throttle. All this right out of the box. No extra add-ons. Too European?

I have a Cab06r which I use at the club with the ProCab system instead of my ProCabR when I run a single engine, and don't need to program anything when running. Being smaller than the ProCabR I find it less fatiguing.

Atlas Selectors works best for creating block arrangements on layouts. it's the same as with DC control layouts.

Hi Larry I just watched this video again and was wondering weather consists can be set up on the Cab06e no mention of it in the manual cheers

As far as I know there is no way to create a consist with the Cab06. You can create them using the PowerCab and then call them up on the Cab06 and control the locos.

Hi Larry Just watched this video very informative .I have a Cab06 great little throttle only thing I find annoying is when using the recall feature the next loco chosen will start off at the previous speed setting unless I'm quick enough to dial back to zero any suggestions as to remedy cheers from South Australia

I always dial mine back to “0” before recalling the next loco.

@@TheDCCGuy then the loco currently running will stop if dialed back to zero i want to keep the 1st loco running then recall a 2nd to start up from zero

Hi again i have found out the throttle I have is a potentiometer type and that's the way they work I need the encoder version to set back to zero on recall

Here's a thought for the future. Get a used Cattron wireless paddle, train controller and convert it into a DCC model train controlor. Or let's all petition NCE and Digitrax to make a harness, waist height, hands free, walk-around DCC assimilation of the real deal controlors, like the CATTRON harness controller. Wouldn't that be nice!? Next: RC Model railroading!?😄😆 I know you could put you smartphone on a harness and call it a train controller, whatever!?😢

It would be nice to have a detent in the center position I yard mode. For the price of the 06, I ended up buying another Power Cab and use the second one on the workbench when I'm not running the layout.

There must be a dead zone in the middle. The TCS UWT-50p has the center detent which is nice for yard mode, but weird the rest of the time.

I have two Power Cab units. I have the original set as address (1 or 2 I think) primary, and the other setup to work as a Pro Cab via address of 5 (I think). Also, I installed a heavy duty on/off SPST rocker switch to allow the layout to be turned on and off. I had to splice the power adapter wires to allow the switch to work. Why did i do this...? Simple-there is no way to turn the dcc system off! You can unplug the buss cable, but power is still running into the buss unit and Not actually cutting anything to the 'off' position.

Be careful when buying a Cab06. They apparently use the same box for tethered and radio versions, with “radio control” printed on the box - check the fine print.

When you change from Normal to Yard mode, will the loco suddenly go full speed in reverse until you dial it to mid point?
@TheDCCGuy
@TheDCCGuy 9 ай бұрын
I’ve never tried that. I always stop the loco and then change the setting.

I bought my cab o6 a week ago. I have it set to address 2. My powercab is. I have a cab 04 which is set to 5. Larry do all the throttles have to have seperate addresses ? Now with the cab 06 and powercab, can both throttles have the same identical locomotive roster so if I have my cab 06 on one side of the layout and my powercab on the other side, will they work together or work against each other? I have read my manual but sometimes its better to have someone like you to show the features.
@TheDCCGuy
@TheDCCGuy 9 ай бұрын
Each throttle must have a unique address and the PowerCab itself must be set to address #2. So you need to change your Cab06 to another unique address. Once they are set properly all of the DCC magic happens in the PowerCab and the Cab06 talks to it via the throttle network.

I bought a second "hammerhead" throttle. My thinking was in case my main hammerhead failed, I'd still have a full-function unit, and I wouldn't have to learn the operation of a different style throttle.

Balliatic tracking makes no sense with thr Cab06p. I confirmed on NCE's website that the Cab06p doesn't have ballistic tracking so that option is for the encoder-based Cab06.

The Cab06 can be 3, 4, or 5 on a PowerCab running 1.65b.
