Imo this is the best bass track from Jason Newsted so far , the tone is just brutal , the play is super tight , the track itself is very catchy due to not following the guitars all the time . I'll always go back to this track more than most of his anyway , I don't get people who say this is terrible or this sounds bad , bass too loud blabla . Jason also himself did an interview confirming that's his own tracks so stop saying it's fake , THANK YOU

Lars is over rated. I easily covered this song during my 3rd year playing. Now imagine this composition with a drummer like Nick Menza or Chris Adler.

I don’t get why there is so much hate as far as Lars’ musically ability goes. He is a perfectly competent metal drummer. I also think he has a unique style. Also, it can be just as, if not more, important to play with the song as a whole in mind instead of showing off.

"Too good" If you consider fret buzz and a constantly vibrating sound "too good", you have a problem.
@BarelloSmith4 жыл бұрын
@@kazuhiramiller7491 Fret buzz is actually a pretty desirable sound in metal and other agressive kinds of music. Slapping in funk is just one example for that. Jason probably wouldn't do good in a classical orchestra with that kind of playing but that's not its purpose. Also Cliff would be even worse off for that kind of music since his blocking-technique leaves a lot to be desired and he wasn't as good in keeping the tempo or the rhythm as Jason is.
@adamlucivjansky34114 жыл бұрын
I think they turned it down because they were self centred assholes. But even with crippled sound mix this album was 100 times better than everything they produced after Jason left. It's better to stop than ruin your music reputation by releasing tens of pointless records. Sadly, most bands don't know when to stop.
@angelsoto26604 жыл бұрын
Jason’s a great musician, but as a bassist (compared to cliff) he was kinda weak. The way I see it is that he’s kind of just playing guitar on bass; which almost always sounds good for thrash, but it was just wasn’t as creative or interesting as the way cliff would approach the bass. Y’know?

A good bass line which is well-played. Too much palm-muted sections for me, but it's fine generally. On the other side, I found the bass tone quite unbalanced. (Which I always do) Maybe wrong bass guitar, maybe wrong strings, maybe wrong effects, I don't know. When it comes to right tone, David Ellefson is the best example for a bass player to be able to be just "heard" properly if you're playing such a tough genre like thrash metal. Some may say, they muted his bass line on recording process. But to me the main bass problem on AJFA is not just that. It can also be Jason's suitability for Black Album like genre than AJFA. Everything is possible :)
