So sad that Of What's Left art was changed by Bezier in Seers Catalog. Not only "Seers" is a very very very very niche reference, but the art is far from the beautiful illustrations of Sai Beppu. I hope that Taylor has a change someday to republish the games as they are.

I was holding out hope for some well-done quirk with Seers Catalog being about finding the right psychic or something since Sears catalog is a reference no one else over here got. But it's about werewolves so I guess I don't get it either and seeing one of the cards is for a seer up drink with a seer-a-mist reference has really fizzed out my hope. Oof.

I thought for a moment you were going to be underwhelmed by both games, so I was happy that you rated them justly high. In terms of replayability, Short Zoot Suit has really got that worked out. I like playing a game that you can get good at but not master. It also differs when you play with different people too. My only parallel of trying to achieve even tricks/short suits is the hook in Nokosu Dice that has you aiming for the number of tricks and your remaining dice number. Thanks for a great game, Taylor. And thanks for a realistic review too!

Question about short zoot suit. In most trick taking games reneging is usually detected. Usually with a scoring consequence. Rarely do people intentionally renege. But it happens accidentally. How would a player's misplay get detected? I play off suit legally. And later draw back into the shorted suit. How is this affect play?

I suppose it could accidentally slip by, and it does rely on a level of honesty. It is built in to the game that you can intentionally short yourself of a suit, play off suit legally, then draw back into it. In fact, the interim scoring card that scores based on how many suits are shown in your shorts pile requires you to draw back into a suit in order to get all 4 suits in there. -Chris

Update: This may have been covered in the video (it's been a few days), but it appears it's going to be released in the US as Seers Catalogue. Looks like some fun new additions were added, but... I miss that Sai Beppu art. Great review as usual! I was feeling impulsive and was preparing to buy them, but was couldn't find them anywhere. Any news on US availability?
