We played Ahau multiple times, and it's one of the best games this year. A mid-heavy euro style game with some ameri elements, beautiful design, clever ideas, and lots of combo options. It might seem overfilled at the first sight, but it makes sense after a few rounds, and you'll keep coming back to it. The theme is also very close to our hearts, and the historical explanations provide a pretty solid context. Definitely not a 5/10, but rather a 5/7. :)

Well said, fully agree.

I have also played several times and even though I did liked it a lot , I understand it’s score . It is difficult to explain to mid or noob gamers , I felt like they could have included more aid guides , we were constantly trying to remember what each building tile did , and with 4 players just dragged too much , without considering the quality of the materials (the piramids kept dissembling , resources so small , etc) …

The board game market is big enough you shouldn't need to play a game multiple times just to start enjoying it. If your plan is to only ever play with the same people, I can see that working for you, but that doesn't make for a good game for everyone else. There are plenty of games with similar theme/mechanics that don't require recruiting a designated team for.

I was waiting for these reviews for quite some time ! Thank you DT!

I remember being extremely interested by Castles by the Sea when it was crowdfunding. It looked gorgeous and the theme was 10/10... but then I read the rulebook... it was all great until I saw how the monsters worked and I saw that it would be a game in which players would pick on the leader with "take that" mechanics. With that theme, I'm stunned that they decided to implement negative interactions between players 😔

I got sushi boat on a convention so i got it very early, and i say this game has one my favorite theme and the board is just super beautiful

I have it preordered for that reason, though I’m a bit worried about the gameplay now. Have you actually played it?
@rexology_bg10 ай бұрын
The gameplay is indeed okay. I think it is a good game to play with non-gamers and preteen/teenage kids. I would play it but not suggest it.

your reviews of the first two Pack o Game sets way back in the day really helped me decide which ones to buy. How much longer will I have to wait for a review of the games in set 3?

6:34 Yahtzee Frenzy just sounds like an inferior version of "Yahtzee Free-for-All", it even copies the box shape but with cheaper components.

Sushi Boat is beautiful but it felt like adult memory to me and I am not a fan of memory games.

So why is Breakfast for Odin ok and uluk bad, what am I missing.
@nerdyjawsh10 ай бұрын
Did you mean feast for Odin? I couldn't find a game called breakfast for Odin. Either way though, a 6 isn't a "bad" score.
@MouseKing475210 ай бұрын
@nerdyjawsh Yes your right, I got it wrong, it was feast for odin, the point I was trying to make was , is that game all about food.

No one should be designing games these days where “stealing a card” exists. It’s just annoying and not fun.

It all depends on how you do it. It works when stealing a card can be a small setback but not a major one (Catan for instance).
