I would love to see a ranking of all the 15-minute versions of Ticket to Ride. I'd like to get one of them but not sure which ones are the best.

Berlin and London are the best. The rest don't really work as well.

19:13 sound source changed to camera? Silence then back to normal 19:17. I did enjoy this episode. Thanks for the quick reviews!

I enjoyed Chinatown but waterfall park concerns me that each space now has 6 rather than 4 neighbours and the board isn't broken up until small blocks. I think this will mean less negotiation is needed to complete a group, any thoughts?

I had the same worries you had about Waterfall Park... Actualol is another youtuber who had this to say about whether Waterfall Park is better: "Better is hard to quantify. I haven't had the chance to play them both a lot in quick succession, so I don't want to proclaim something to you. But beyond the shortness (of WP) there's one other major change, that the spaces have six adjacent spaces instead of four and there's only two districts instead of five (?). This means it's easier to get spaces next to each other and therefore easier to build businesses. In Chinatown that made adjacent spots even more sought after, but also meant that if you get lucky drawing adjacent spots, you're very lucky. Maybe that's tension but to me it was often frustration. I guess it meant you had to work even harder to negotiate. But in Chinatown it's possible to draw spaces that are just useless to everyone, and therefore useless bargaining tools. No amount of strategising will fix that. That is a less common occurrence in Waterfall Park, and I personally prefer that."

We played Waterfall Park at Dice Tower West. It’s a blast!! An hour of bartering back and forth. Requires having to do a little quick math in your head, and planning for further acquisitions. A really fun “experience” game. Beautiful production as well.

Orion Duel looks cool but WOW is that game too big for what it is. That "board" should be just the center part and save 50%+ of space on the table and in the box. That box is also MASSIVE! I was interested in it but not for the amount of space it's gonna take
@cosmicbeet10 ай бұрын
It's worth noting that the video is showing the deluxe edition. There is a retail edition with a smaller box and board.
@protoman50410 ай бұрын
Yeah the retail version is just the center of the board with a much smaller box.

The Dice Tower doesnt even try anymore to let you know what games are retail version and what is deluxe/exclusive :(

Where can i find Orion Duel? Can't seem to find it anywhere....

Waterfall Park is a huge hit with my family. Great for kids ages 9+ as well.

I think the last small Ticket to ride Tom reviewed was San Francisco which he said was the same and clearly forgettable a year later. The mix of two types of railway makes Berlin interesting but I wonder if upcoming Paris does anything newer or its just like the others

Would be nice if there was just a few versions of Ticket to Ride instead of like 100 for no reason.

I would rather play Trade on the tigris or Sidereal confluence over waterfall park/Chinatown. I never feel satisfied after a trade in chinatown.
@mechashadow10 ай бұрын
How does Tigris improve on this? Just curious.
@Lordjunon10 ай бұрын
@@mechashadow I like how you start pretty basic then evolve wildly different, I like how the set collection works, i like the deception saying I have a democracy good and when i trade it its actually a tyranny good. I also like how the golden age/barbarians work. I just think its an overall better package.

@@Lordjunon I love Chinatown (on my wish list as oop) so will definitely check out Trade on the Tigris.

Sidereal is my favourite game, but I also like Chinatown for how quick it is to teach and play. Trade on the Tigris I sadly ended up selling unplayed.

Chinatown was on of the grestest game seessions, i ever had. So much fun. But its very group dependent. Id love to play Waterfall Park, but i dont have a good group for it anymore.

I’ve played WP twice now. It’s a very fun game. But I agree it’s not for everyone.

The small Ticket to Ride games made sense when they were regularly on sale for $15, nowadays they're almost always priced at $30. Grated, I don't care for TtR in the first place, but that's still overpriced for what you get in my opinion.

"I like this game a lot, 7/10." "I never want to play this game again, 5/10." What is your scoring system Tom?!?
@MrHiekkis10 ай бұрын
This is why he didn't score for a while. But the biggest jumps in Tom's scoring are from 8 to 9 and 6 to 5. He seems to heavily dislike everything from 1 to 5 and anything above that is fine to great.

This is consistent with BGG ratings; anything at 6 or below has “issues”. I can’t remember seeing any online reviewer go below 5, but I have seen games rated below 5 on BGG.
