Here’s a petty reason: my favorite band at the time was playing at a festival several years back. I was SO pumped for their set, it was supposed to be 30 minutes long. They showed up 20 minutes late, played 2 songs, and left. I couldn’t find any explanation on their socials so I let it go. But I was definitely mad salty and stopped listening to them for a good minute 😂

i once went to a show of Bring me the horizon, with the devil wears prada and architects as their support acts. the ticket had the names listed in that order, so naturally i assumed, architects would play first, then tdwp, and then bmth. i was a huge tdwp fan and was really excited to finally see them live! on my way there, i took the wrong bus, so i ended up being late, and just as i entered i could hear the last notes of the band that was playing. it was tdwp. for some reason, despite the order of their names on the ticket, tdwp played first, architects second. so de because i missed the band that i wanted to see, i got mad and refused to listen to architects for like 5/6 years

My friend played bass in a black metal band I won't name. The guitarist went absolutely nuts at some point. Started whining about the bassist's mom sharing their music saying: "She doesnt understand the mysticism so she shouldn't share it". Also got real weird about their stage costumes because a single review said they don't look likr a BM band. Eventually they had a big gig and didn't let my friend play bass with the excuse that their original bassist was a better player. They announced the gig on Facebook saying that my friend won't be playing at that particular gig. Me and a few others asked if he was still in the band though. They deleted our comments asking about my friend who later was just kicked from the band. They also deleted their music video featuring my friend presumably just because he was in it. Won't listen to their shit anymore after that mess. Maybe not a petty reason but a reason nonetheless

Dang I forgot about that overly political thing, but I can't help but love Iced Earth. To me, they're the heavier more modern side of classic metal, they bridge a gap for me. As a musician, I'm aware I listen to bands I don't agree with on certain issues, I'm not religious or satanic, but I listen to tons of both of those kinds of bands, I'm a musician, I'm looking for what the thing sounds like, I don't care about what they're saying if it slaps, I just want to be influenced by good sounds, that's the goal. I can look past lyrics and people's opinions that seem wrong to me. Idk, it's just not about that to me. I'm a fan of literal music, if you sing something I don't agree with, but I can go away from it thinking, "that's a cool rhythmic pattern" or "interesting melody" where I can put that in my back pocket to tweak and change around when I write my music, then that's all I need. If a band is on the same mental as me, it's just a little bonus I guess, but I never really get too excited either if the band seems like they have a lot of my similar views, it's just a passing thought that, "cool, the world's a little less crazy," assuming I'm not crazy :P

I think the best way to spin a band that has a lot of connection to an ex is to try making jokes out of it. One of my exes would always play The Devil Wears Prada in his car on long road trips to concerts, but we started listening to the band at different points way before we met. U2 had a special deal with Apple. They had limited edition U2 variants of products, like the iphone and ipod classic. It was Iced Earth, and the guitarist is the main guy. The wild thing is Stu (who is from my city), the vocalist made a statement saying he was “proud of his friend for standing up for his beliefs,” which he later deleted after a bunch of backlash.

Mine is lowkey problematic but Paramore. Or really just Haley Williams. And it’s not problematic because it’s Paramore. But whenever the Front Porch Step allegations came out and Haley Williams went off. Threatening that she/Paramore was going to drop off of Warped that year if he didn’t get taken off the line up. Because she was super against SA and didn’t want to play next to “Predators.” Which would be cool. That’s like a super valid reason. Or rather it is for every other artist or band. And I mean… Fuck Front Porch Step. BUT. It was mega hypocritical for her to say that and kind of goofy as hell for her to say that like there isn’t a video or her vibing the hell out to Bewitched by Blood On The Dance Floor playing live , with her side stage. Singing her lungs out. YEARS after the lead guy getting out right arrest for r*pe. And loads and LOADS of allegations against him. And she’s just going off about Front Porch Step. The name comes from the original 3 members favorite movies put together. Dylan the vocalist - The Nightmare Before Christmas Kenny the guitarist - The Last Samurai Hugo the drummer - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 😂😂😂❤️❤️. Love that the name still floats around out there but the band I’m fronting now is so much better musically 😂.

My petty reason to not listen to some Black Metal bands is because some were from USA. And in my old way of thinking USA and Black Metal doesn't really mix together. I know there are some good US Black Metal bands (I listened to Absu, Judas Iscariot and Von), but there's still thought back in my head that says "Americans can't make good Black Metal" and I really want to get rid of that thought.

Here’s my petty reason! TAA was touring with senses fail in winter of 2019. Bad omens was supposed to be one of the openers until they cried and complained that the font size of their name on the poster was too small. So they ended up not opening. But to this day, I will not listen to Bad Omens because of that.

I dont know if this is petty but here it goes: I had a really long and terrible depression period in life (probably about 10 years or so), and there was a band that I have been listening to for the last 3 years because I went from working a shithole job where i was wanting to kill myself, to getting abandoned by my best friends for shit that was my fault. I used to listen to “The Ghost Club” during those 3 years because it helped me cope. As of the last couple months or so I have finally found myself at peace and havent listened to them since because I wasnt depressed anymore.

Oh damn, same. I remember being in a car as a kid and Muse was playing on the radio and I just thought "he inhales a lot". I forgot about for a few years. I got a bit into Muse, remembered the inhaling thing and couldn't unhear it, I can barely listen to Muse to this day.
