Mmm... I find it a bit dicey when ppl without the disability start deeming what is & isnt "suffering" in someone with a disability, esp one that that person will never experience...
@halien63843 жыл бұрын
@@LadyMaeloraBeesbury i dont have williams syndrome but i do have autism and i focus a lot on disability advocacy at my university. You don’t typically want to use words like “suffering” or “afflicted” when discussing a person with a disability unless thats how they describe themselves. By doing that you’re making the audience feel pity for the person, and while yes having a disability isn’t always easy, we are just like everybody else and dont want people to feel bad for us all the time or to treat us differently

I think that this shows that smiling all day can help not just you and your mood, but those around you as well. You are going to make a lot more friends when you smile at them, then by frowning at them. Happy, open, kind people bring happiness to others and that is something that EVERYONE can do, whether you have this rare syndrome or not. Try to be nice to everyone you meet and see where that gets the world.

@e.b.4379 Жыл бұрын
Yes, they have such beautiful personalities but live with a great deal of anxiety. I'd hesitate to call WS a "gift", it's a medical diagnosis that masquerades as "the happy syndrome" due to the higher-than-normal oxytocin levels in the brain of people with WS, which is responsible for making them appear happy, empathetic and sociable. It's important not to underestimates how tough their lives can be and the challenges they face as a result of their diagnosis, such as heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) problems, kidney complications, chronic ear infections and/or hearing loss, dental abnormalities, such as poor enamel and small or missing teeth, elevated calcium level in the blood, scoliosis, sleep problems, endocrine abnormalities: hypothyroidism, early puberty and diabetes in adulthood, farsightedness and ultimately cardiac failure and a reduced life expectancy.

Does nobody see what a complex and actually quite normal person she is? She is not naive or constantly happy at all, she just appears like that to people who can't empathize with divergent minds. I feel so sad for her, as she obviously is very lonely and misunderstood. Nobody takes her serious, nobody really listens to her. They treat her like a little child. Every time people praise her for her "positivity", "love" and "happiness" you can clearly see how her face and voice actually disagree. Listen to divergent minds and children like you listen to philosophers. Take every single word serious and try to put yourself in their minds. Just because they express their thoughts in a way you can't comprehend, that doesn't mean they are stupid. If you don't, you trap them inside a bubble of complete isolation. She is so lonely. It's like locked-in syndrome, nobody is reacting to what she is really trying to express. These people with their patronizing behavior have no clue how ignorant and stupid they actually behave.
@natalierozean59895 жыл бұрын
IIIIIawesIIIII I agree she’s complex and “normal” to an extent. She does suffer from a certain level of naivety that puts her safety at risk. Have you seen her SBSK interview on KZbin? I watched her on SBSK a while back. Before TV discovered her and saw $$ signs, exploiting her. She tried to explain herself. Actually she explained herself well. She cries often from feeling isolated as well as not understanding why people are cruel, or negative in anyway. She’s completely unable to understand people who may take advantage of her trust and love. She feels as though her dog is the only one who understands her. It emotionally destroys her that she has to worry about others hurting her or each other. She LITERALLY sees hearts in EVERYTHING....water spouts, nature, etc. On an emotional level, she is beyond empathetic. The real world truly breaks her heart. Cognitively, she’s just as capable as any other adult. She’s intelligent. She has values. Probably more so than most people without a syndrome. She is naive only in the aspect that she, as an adult, wants to run up to and hug anyone who looks upset. It was cute as a happy living toddler. Now it is dangerous. She made the statement she knows she can’t “love on” everyone even though they look like they need it so bad, because her mother has told her it’s not safe anymore and people might hurt her. Callie said she doesn’t understand, but she trusts her mom because she’s her moms most prized possession. (aside from dad) She listend, but it makes her cry. She’s also in a new SBSK VID, where she now has made bff w a a man suffering from primordial dwarfism. She fell in love w him instantly because he was so cute and adorable. She believes he’s just like her. While I do not doubt he cares for her... his view of her was different. When asked, he would ONLY reply he was close to Callie because she was “SO HOT”, “PRETTY”, “HUBBA HUBBA”... Then he’d wink at the camera like “you know EXACTLY what I mean”. Callie interpreted his constant “I’m her friend cuz she’s a HOT MAMA and hugs me...HUBBA HUBBA” *wink wink* comments as compliments that made her blush because he was so nice...or jokes. Idk what their relationship is truly based on, but they both spelled it out. Adorable friend who’s just like me and understands me and Duh shes HOT... are 2 different motives. That’s what Callie is naive about.
@CJK945 жыл бұрын
I agree.
@IIIIIawesIIIII5 жыл бұрын
@@natalierozean5989 I have watched the video of her and her friend. Maybe I am overinterpreting, but to me it seemed, like his vulgar descriptions about her were meant in a self-ironic or maybe ego-preserving way of expressing an underlying true affection and desire. It is clear, that he wants her more as a woman/girlfriend while she wants him as a best friend and is not attracted to him for (sadly) obvious reasons. I think they both are aware of this situation and don't like explicitly talking about it. Him saying "she's hot hubba hubba" or something like that has not to be understood as an objectification, but as an expression of desire for more, coated in enough absurdity to mellow the underlying imperative of a reaction (which would most likely be a rejection or even force an end to the friendship). Just like normal people do.
@natalierozean59895 жыл бұрын
IIIIIawesIIIII I wasn’t sure which way to interpret it. I went both ways in my thinking. Initially, I was fine with him referring to her as hot ...over and over again, but when that became his only reason for relishing their relationship I started to wonder. Don’t get me wrong. I’m well aware I have NO RIGHT to judge their relationship whatsoever. I’m not even aware of his cognitive ability to express why he’s fond of her other than, perhaps, unintentionally objectifying her. He does seem to truly have her best interest at heart and most importantly “would never hurt her because she’s a good girl”. That’s probably one of the reasons she feels safe around him. It’s sad that she can’t find someone she is equally attracted to in a “hubba hubba* *wink wink* sort of way. I realize she’s extremely vulnerable (due to lack of judgment and wanting to trust everyone), but aren’t we all a bit vulnerable? I’ve personally had occasions of less than stellar judgement. I’ve dismissed all the signs that screamed run don’t walk away. I’ve chosen to ignore my own intuition in favor of wanting to trust someone I loved. We have all been betrayed, lied to or “loved” for the wrong reasons. While I realize her “disease” is perpetual positivity and the inability to see the worst in people, she’s ANYTHING, but disabled. I hope those around her aren’t so desperate to “protect” her that they encourage relationships w disabled people who may not equate to her intelligence or maturity level. Not to mention, someone she she would not be physically attracted to. I completely understand that her family, as well as others, are overprotective of her. However, she deserves an emotionally fulfilling relationship with someone shes mentally and physically compatible with. A man she’s “in love with”. I hope she’s not being encouraged to settle for less.
@IIIIIawesIIIII5 жыл бұрын
@@natalierozean5989 Natalie Rozean Yes, very true, I wish the same! You are a nice and reasonable person! I think it will be an enormous challenge for her. It is extremely hard to evaluate people, that's why categories and biases can be so helpful. The more someone diverges from the average/norm though, the less accurate these categories and biases become. It takes an extremely open, trained and sensible mind to identify and make sense of things whose most redeemable values can't be grasped in given terms and common imaginations. That's why, for example, contemporary art is so hard to evaluate. I am exposed to a lot of it at work. All I know is, that only a borderline-superhuman genius could reliably differenciate between the garbage and the true meaninful works on the market. And even if he/she can do that, he/she will have an even harder time trying to convince others.
