I rescued an 18mo old shepherd. My vet said he had been abused. I had to teach how to go up and down steps. No matter how much affection i gave him he never did become a cuddler. He did however always want to be close to me, would lay on a blanket next to my chair, slept on my bed, had to be around me, or always checking to make sure i was around. Had him for 18 wonderful years.

*_This is why we rescue!_* When you get the dog and they just want to hide, tail tucked, avoiding eye contact, it is heartbreaking. But then little by little they come closer to you and even ask for pets and you know it's going to be okay. The first time they come sit next to you, the first time they interact with other dogs, these are all landmarks and when you see them in their forever home, they're coming out of their shell, they're trusting us again. Then you know it's going to be all right. ❤️🐾

I don't know her full story but seems like a pup that loved her family then they either abandoned her or maybe lost her. It stands as a true testament to how our furry friends can develop such strong bonds with us and can be hurt so deeply by us. I don't know her full story so I can't issue opinion on her first family. Sometimes people make tough choices because they have no other options. Sometimes people make bad choices because they don't know any better. Ignorance can be met with understanding and corrected with education. Stupidity and/or cruelty is another story. Happy to see that she found comfort again.

Jo Fi great comment, what do you think about factory farms ?
@beckyhayob15572 жыл бұрын
@@jjradV I don't know how Jo Fi feels about them, but I think they need to be outlawed and those who run them or open new ones need to be prosecuted. Period. Animals are living creatures who have feelings and fears. They should be treated with respect, love and compassion. ❤️
@Bloxeh2 жыл бұрын
@Draven's Cringe Gaming Eating animals products requires more plant calories than eating plants directly. For animal products, animals are bred and fed. It is very resource intensive. If humanity would switch to plant based diets, farmland could be reduced by about 70% and there would be enough food worldwide. If you look at the biomass of land living mammals, it is currently: 36% humans, 60% bred animals, 4% wild animals. Just imagine how great it would be, if we didn't breed (and therefore feed) animals. Great report to have a look into: "Livestock's Long Shadow" by the FAO of the UN
@MizJilly2 жыл бұрын
@@beckyhayob1557 You are good-hearted, but please think more deeply about this. You're talking about no animal products whatsoever for the vast majority of people if you outlaw factory farming. Can it be done much more humanely? YES. Can we cut down on the number of animals in these places and raise the price of the products accordingly to cut down on demand? YES. But make no mistake. If you there is NO factory farming, there is no insulin, no heart valve replacements, no collagen supplements, bone broth, dog food, cat food, fast food, or organ meats, which, depending on your blood type, can be the difference between chronic illness and health. DO NOT support the legislation to ban factory farming. Most people cannot or do not have access to small cattle and poultry farmers, and if they did, no way could these small farmers meet the demand. Dogs are not vegans.
@beckyhayob15572 жыл бұрын
@@MizJilly I use animal products, I do eat meat and I don't see myself giving those things up ... I could have worded my comment a little differently. The main concern/point I was trying to make is the humane aspect. I want the cruelty, abuse and neglect to stop. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to clarify my comment. 🤔👍🦋
