Poor Iris was obviously traumatised in the past and it was so sad to watch her shy away from human touch, however, once again patience and love triumph. She's a beautiful dog and it was just fantastic to see her beginning to play and enjoy life. I wish her a long and happy life in her new forever home. That's exactly what it was. Plus of course she knew the other dog was in the house somewhere tucked away and was probably wondering whether they were going to trick her and lock her away too. Lol. Once she met the other dog and got the feel of things, she was ok.

It's so sad when a dog is so scared but so touching to see them happy again. Reminds me of when I watched a family friends dog, he was a big rescue dog that they adopted and I came out a few days before they left to meet him and he was so friendly and followed us around and let me pet him just fine but then I went to stay at the house to watch him and he was like an entirely different dog. Which is understandable but it was so sad to see him so scared and to know that animals never forget what they go through. He hid from me and was almost always under the kitchen table looking out the front window waiting for them to come back. He barked whenever he saw me walking around or if I talked to him. So I just decided to never push him and left a treat on the floor once and a while. At the end of the week though, the last two days, he started to peek at me in the living room from around the couch and on the last day he collapsed into my lap and just slept there. It made me so happy to see him trust me.

We had a very abused female dog and when we got a male puppy she changed dramatically. She became way more loving and playful and comfortable with people. Getting another fun and loving dog may really be the best medicine for an abused or very shy dog.

Its like someone made her feel so unworthy of being indoors or able to touch anything. It's so clear that animals have souls and it's so beautiful to see their souls heal. Caring for abandoned and abused animals is most definitely a valuable community service.

Hi! I like your comment. I get what you are trying to do, and it’s obvious it comes from a good place. I agree 100% - up to a point...Pit bulls don’t share the “same strengths” as German Shepherds. Each breed has its own, unique, set of traits. Calling pit bulls “vicious by nature” is wrong...but identifying them as similar to German Shepherds is also wrong. Again, I like your comment, and I respect your opinion. I just think it may be misleading.
