Michele, foster caregiver, when I read that a pitbull is "terrified," I immediately think of the sheer terror experienced by child and adult victims of pitbull attacks. From Daily Mail on May 3, 2022, attack by a pack of pitbulls. Victim's sister interviewed: 'When she passed out they were eating her alive. The dogs dragged her. They scalped her. Her skull was showing. They tore her left eyelid off. 'They tore her right cheek off left a hole. They ate the skin off her inner thigh and ate the flesh off her arms and ripped them off. Doctors were forced to wait for a month for the infection from the deep bites to subside before they were able stitch up the gashes on her forehead and scalp. Her sister continued: 'She said doctors had to put 109 staples in the front of her head and at least 90 staples in the back of her head.' A trachea tube was placed in her throat because the bacteria from the dogs mouth got into her esophagus which her sister said is now permanent. She also lost her vocal chords and now is forced to speak using a voice-generated box."

When we adopted our newest doggie baby, he was 4 months old. Terrified of cars, both riding in, and walking around. He wouldn’t cross any streets. Peed and puked in the car. 9 months later, he will now cross the streets without treats. Still working on riding in the car, but the last ride had no pee or puke (yay!). He is a 50 pound Velcro lap dog.

I had a dog who would get sick in the car too. One day my sister had to ride in the backseat (no dog) and SHE got carsick. It was a dodge neon, a car very low to the ground, a lot of wheel noise in the backseat. Shortly thereafter I bought an SUV with more room in back for my dogs to ride in (I had 2 large dogs), and my dog never got sick again. Just saying it may also be the type of vehicle in addition to the dog’s fear. Good luck with your pup, I have lived with 3 very fearful dogs, some get over it sooner than others. The one I have now runs if I drop ANYTHING, including a sheet of paper. He’s running for the hills! Unfortunately, I am a big clutz and I drop things often. I’ve had him a little over two years now and he is finally getting used to me dropping things! He still runs but comes back from a shorter distance away! And he is definitely still afraid of new situations. BTW - he’s 120 pounds of Mastiff Rottweiler mix. 😆. Love him to pieces, makes me laugh everyday.

@@noremac0575 I think they’re misunderstood. The owners of this breed would definitely disagree with you. I know their reputation is awful but a bad owner/master can turn any dog, from the tiny little 4-pound fur ball to a 150-pound St. Bernard mature dog into an angry, snapping aggressive thing that is truly scary to behold because he looks like if he gets hold of you he will rip you to pieces. Dogs, just like humans, know and do what they are taught. You train with love and kindness not with pain and threats. What patience and love from these foster parents and care givers. The rewards are indescribable when the pups finally come around. God bless these fine people. Hugs y'all.

You both are so amazing. Your love, patience and dedication is so beautiful. Poppy must have been through so much and she needed you, and boy did you show up! Thank you for that. Thank you. Also, that fierce little chihuahua is so cute! And to see Poppy put her head on you, my word. I love seeing Poppy and Oak! I was writing this and typing" two peas on a pod", when you said it! Go Poppy! Live girl! Your rocking it! And thank you Riley!

Awe how heartbreaking and warming at the same time. I’m not sure how you managed to let her go but she looks so happy well done both mummy’s. Glad there are people like you around to heal the hurt. 💕❤️♥️💖. I’m in tears watching. Can’t imagine how it felt.
