I dont think he had bad owners per se. They wrote a letter and yes, a letter is no justification that they're good but it could just be that he didnt click with the previous owners for whatever reason(s). Maybe one person in the family treated him badly or maybe he was traumatized by something in the old home and associate it with bad/negative.
@FWDSUXARSE
@FWDSUXARSE 3 жыл бұрын
@@kobisjeruk I'll reserve judgemental feelings I have, but that kiddos body language speaks volumes. I work with abused dogs as a volunteer (adopted one too) and it's all about how you treat them and show them how you love them and will protect them and take care of them. My rescue was terrified of me when she first saw me, but once we went out on a walk together she changed completely. Within the first 48 hours she fell asleep with her head on my thigh, paws up in the air. Dogs are pretty good judges of character. They may show apprehension and fear with a new person, but once you let them approach you on their own terms, they are pretty darn perceptive of a person's intentions for the most part.
@sworishina

@@FWDSUXARSE It was the fear of the doorway for me. That brief moment of hesitance. My dog has some form of trauma (I think she might've lived in a cage her whole life before Hurricane Harvey liberated her), and years later, she's still a bit nervous around doors. Like she's afraid of what will come through them. And that moment where Hooch hesitated? I think he was afraid of the same thing.

Because they don't want to admit why the dog was probably acting "aggressively" ie most likely abusing him or treating him poorly
@flawsnalltreasures721
@flawsnalltreasures721 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe they didn't lie. Maybe the dog was aggressive towards the man in the household. Maybe the man in the household was abusing the people in the house and the dog was trying to protect them. If the dog was protecting the family members from someone it will do it all of the time not just when the person is being mean. Maybe they did the best thing for the dog and if the people are being abused they should leave as well. Maybe that's why this dog was nice to this guy, this guy was not the one being abusive to the other members of its previous home. What this video does show is that shelters should wipe the slate clean when they receive an animal then form their own opinion for each animal in their shelters. Shelters have no idea why a dog is deemed aggressive in their previous home. Previous owners will leave out the part about being abused by someone in the home, they can not admit to being abused because they are scared of what will happen when they get home.

Reminds me of a scripture in proverbs...one interpretation was... "you can tell a good man by the way he treats his animals" ...became a favorite version...reminded me of my dad...all animals we had ..dogs .cats..horses...all seemed to take an inquisitive and affectionate interest in him and always recognized him as the true alpha...even if he never raised his voice around that animal nor even had an ongoing relationship...they always seemed to know he was the top dog ..leader of the pack...they were usually affectionate or respectful of him...even the horses would walk up to him to greet him, maybe lay their heads on his tall shoulder...

@@JouniKyyronen-nv1ep depends though. Every dog is different. Have to add in the situation and enviroment. When you are told a dog is aggressive. Then that dog comes in unsure and submissive. Aggression is a symptom. So it's different when it's a first meeting with an unsecured dog. The best time to show leadership is during meals and walks. Constantly correcting bad behaviors. Which he did in this video. The dog only needed a verbal warning to deescalate. Showing strength when it matters the most.

@@tyrstark8673 Probably. In many cases people don't begin To understand a dog's behavior or how they should be treated. Some idiots treat the dogs like humans (thinking they are being "loving") to the animals detriment. Some of these nasty hefers are intimate with their dogs and that causes big problems for any man that comes around, not to mention the psychological impact on the dog. This scenario is far to common but not talked about....like it's some anomaly 🙄 Big red flag for me some chick says "my dog doesn't like men" 🤔

Here's one possible scenario. Like all pitties/pittie mixes, Brutus was adorable as a puppy but as he grew, the owners sort of expected him to "raise himself". They did not train him and shape his behavior, and they gave him a scary name. I believe Brutus's owners were actually afraid of him, scared of his energy, and the dog, sensing abandonment, reacted.

Scared or not, that’s the owner’s issue to deal with. It’s not fair to take it out the dog. Maybe they were projecting their fears onto him: that he would become uncontrollable and aggressive. Or maybe they provoked him bc of their fears ("kill them before they kill me" kind of idea). Regardless, that’s the owner’s responsibility to deal with their fears, not the dog. The dog is essentially an innocent child.

I had a friend back in my childhood, they had a senior dog that kept it's distance, slept all the time etc. Then when he passed, they got a puppy. The puppy was amazing, but they were so used to their senior dog's behaviour, they viewed the puppy as a bad dog. The puppy grew up to be a normal dog, & they still hated him, kept him outside cause he wanted to greet people & play, cuddle on the furniture (my favorite part of having a dog)... It was awful. Yelling at him for being a normal dog. They gave him away to another family member, a single lady in her 40s. When I found out, I was relieved when I talked to her, & she said she hated the way the poor dog was treated. She cuddled with the good little boy, spoiled him, took him everywhere with her... That lady became a permanent dog lover, & I developed a crush on a much older woman haha... She's 65 now, & I still adore her & her house full of dogs😁💜🙋🐕🐕🐕

"Aggressive"? "He doesn't like men" ? this same thing was said to me when I adopted my Cane Corso but she was all over me. She has always been a loving dog, but one day she met a guy at the park and became stand-offish and when he raised his voice at me about her, she became very protective. I've taken her to many places with tons of people and men she loved for hugs and belly rubs. I have a neighbor who she has been loving too but one day also got very protective of me, well turns out he had been drinking. Since then discovered anyone that been drinking she does not like. Did some research found the previous owner was an aggressive drunk and she was only getting in between him and family when he was drunk, all I can say 6 years later she still the same loves us and just keep away from heavy drinkers. And to the previous family, you got rid of the wrong animal.

So my fiance said I have to get rid of the dog...' She told that story to four women and one man. It was the MAN among us that clarified with this woman... This dog is phenomenally well behaved. Sweet, gentle, polite. Makes you wonder what sort of environment he was in before for him to be deemed dangerous (unless his previous humans were just liars). I'm starting to really respect that most "dog aggression" comes from fear, overstimulation, or misunderstandings. When you know how to treat them right, as this man does, they show that their true nature is not aggression, but love.

That's what I'm thinking. The man or men in that other house must have been doing something extremely negative, maybe trying to totally control him in an abusive way. Naming him Brutus gives you a hint. Maybe they wanted some kind of vicious pit bull and couldn't deal with having gotten a sweetheart instead. The great thing is that Hooch didn't seem to have been damaged by it. Thank God. And then the guy just fell head over heals in love with him. From the second he laid eyes on him. THAT was awesome. Maybe Hooch just knew this person was out there that he needed to be with ❤😊

Sometimes a bad match is just a bad match. The previous pet parents commented that turning him back in was a very difficult decision to make. We don't know how it came about that this overgrown fur ball began exhibiting behavior that was interpreted as aggressive. I tend to think there's something the previous pet parents did or didn't do that led to this decision. Maybe they had small kids. We all know how small kids can be with pets if they're not taught how to behave properly. I'm just so glad this story has a happy ending.

@@carolwilliams7052 I agree, and that's what I meant when I said the problem was likely something the previous owners did or didn't do that led to the failure of the relationship.
