Because they don't want to admit why the dog was probably acting "aggressively" ie most likely abusing him or treating him poorly
@flawsnalltreasures7213 жыл бұрын
Maybe they didn't lie. Maybe the dog was aggressive towards the man in the household. Maybe the man in the household was abusing the people in the house and the dog was trying to protect them. If the dog was protecting the family members from someone it will do it all of the time not just when the person is being mean. Maybe they did the best thing for the dog and if the people are being abused they should leave as well. Maybe that's why this dog was nice to this guy, this guy was not the one being abusive to the other members of its previous home. What this video does show is that shelters should wipe the slate clean when they receive an animal then form their own opinion for each animal in their shelters. Shelters have no idea why a dog is deemed aggressive in their previous home. Previous owners will leave out the part about being abused by someone in the home, they can not admit to being abused because they are scared of what will happen when they get home.

@FWDSUXARSE3 жыл бұрын
@@kobisjeruk I'll reserve judgemental feelings I have, but that kiddos body language speaks volumes. I work with abused dogs as a volunteer (adopted one too) and it's all about how you treat them and show them how you love them and will protect them and take care of them. My rescue was terrified of me when she first saw me, but once we went out on a walk together she changed completely. Within the first 48 hours she fell asleep with her head on my thigh, paws up in the air. Dogs are pretty good judges of character. They may show apprehension and fear with a new person, but once you let them approach you on their own terms, they are pretty darn perceptive of a person's intentions for the most part.

I had a friend back in my childhood, they had a senior dog that kept it's distance, slept all the time etc. Then when he passed, they got a puppy. The puppy was amazing, but they were so used to their senior dog's behaviour, they viewed the puppy as a bad dog. The puppy grew up to be a normal dog, & they still hated him, kept him outside cause he wanted to greet people & play, cuddle on the furniture (my favorite part of having a dog)... It was awful. Yelling at him for being a normal dog. They gave him away to another family member, a single lady in her 40s. When I found out, I was relieved when I talked to her, & she said she hated the way the poor dog was treated. She cuddled with the good little boy, spoiled him, took him everywhere with her... That lady became a permanent dog lover, & I developed a crush on a much older woman haha... She's 65 now, & I still adore her & her house full of dogs😁💜🙋🐕🐕🐕

Reminds me of a scripture in proverbs...one interpretation was... "you can tell a good man by the way he treats his animals" ...became a favorite version...reminded me of my dad...all animals we had ..dogs .cats..horses...all seemed to take an inquisitive and affectionate interest in him and always recognized him as the true alpha...even if he never raised his voice around that animal nor even had an ongoing relationship...they always seemed to know he was the top dog ..leader of the pack...they were usually affectionate or respectful of him...even the horses would walk up to him to greet him, maybe lay their heads on his tall shoulder...

"Aggressive"? "He doesn't like men" ? this same thing was said to me when I adopted my Cane Corso but she was all over me. She has always been a loving dog, but one day she met a guy at the park and became stand-offish and when he raised his voice at me about her, she became very protective. I've taken her to many places with tons of people and men she loved for hugs and belly rubs. I have a neighbor who she has been loving too but one day also got very protective of me, well turns out he had been drinking. Since then discovered anyone that been drinking she does not like. Did some research found the previous owner was an aggressive drunk and she was only getting in between him and family when he was drunk, all I can say 6 years later she still the same loves us and just keep away from heavy drinkers. And to the previous family, you got rid of the wrong animal.

Yes they did Same happened Very attractive young woman came in with a beautiful male German shepherd that she raised from a pup She brought him in because she said, and i quote, "My fiance and I were arguing and when he got in my face, my dog wedged himself between us and got in my fiance's face. So my fiance said I have to get rid of the dog...' She told that story to four women and one man. It was the MAN among us that clarified with this woman... "So your fiance was in your FACE, your dog physically put himself between the two of you, to protect YOU, and you're surrendering the dog instead of breaking it off with your fiance???'

The great thing is that Hooch didn't seem to have been damaged by it. Thank God. And then the guy just fell head over heals in love with him. From the second he laid eyes on him. THAT was awesome. Sometimes a bad match is just a bad match. The previous pet parents commented that turning him back in was a very difficult decision to make. We don't know how it came about that this overgrown fur ball began exhibiting behavior that was interpreted as aggressive. I tend to think there's something the previous pet parents did or didn't do that led to this decision. Maybe they had small kids. We all know how small kids can be with pets if they're not taught how to behave properly. I'm just so glad this story has a happy ending.

Lee is the king of foster failure. Most of his pack started out as fosters. When I first became aware of him it was him and 9 dogs in a motorhome. Now it's this pack plus an assortment of other animals on a huge farm. The other animals include some pigs, alpacas a llama and a goat. Oh and I think there are donkeys as well. All rescues 💖

This guy has such great intuition for dogs. "THis is how you let em know you're the strongest in the room" a subtle show of dominance done with love. It's literally AND figuratively "sweeping her off her feet". That desire to trust\surrender and be safe that makes for a good dog.

OMG 😲 America has its version of Takis 😱 This is so awesome!! For anyone who doesn't know the Takis Shelter is a shelter in Greece (I think correct me if I'm wrong) the guy who runs it has a heart of gold! He finds cats and dogs in what's basically dumps like literally piles of garbage everywhere in the wilderness, on the streets and what not and nurses them back to health! I really don't know why I watch these videos I always end up crying happy tears.

Previous owner: "Yeah he doesn't like men." Doesn't like men? Or doesn't like YOU? That abandonment message is definitely suspicious given just how sweet he is. I thought when they said they "couldn't take it anymore" that maybe he was just a big loveable dog that didn't know his strength and just needed to be trained but he was actually pretty disciplined.
@madoldbatwoman3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, a big goofball who needed lots of exercise and always wanted to play. Hooch is so obviously a good natured, easy going, boy. Some people really don't have a clue about dog behaviour. I know a woman who was terrified of the King Charles pup her husband got. She deemed it aggressive for just mouthing her or ragging on a slipper.

@@brendanvannyss6612 I've actually had women at shelters tell me the exact same thing, it wasn't the previous owners that said "He doesn't like men" it was the women working there. I'm pretty sure they were just projecting their own misandry onto the dog as it took me all of 10 secs to get the dog to enjoy hanging out with me (a male) Dogs don't naturally suffer from prejudice, they work off of body language and how you treat them. (If you're nervous, they're nervous, if you're scared, they're scared, if you're welcoming and nice, they'll be welcoming and nice)

Yup, and if the previous owners couldn’t afford to take care of him but were embarrassed, I doubt they would go on how mean the dog is. That implies they actually care for the dog + want him to be re-homed. Their language was potentially damning him never to be adopted. I mean, he was adopted, but thankfully, they gave the dog a chance + not take the previous owners at their word.
@summer-c7i3 жыл бұрын
Brutus may have been scared of his previous owners. Maybe they didn’t treat him well! From the way the dog acts + their note, I think them not treating him well is the likelier case. They’re all too eager to put the full blame on the dog.

There are some great people who foster quite a few animals, and do so year after year. Yet, in my experience most first time fosters end up as “failures” where the people end adopting the animal themselves. We fostered 10 dogs for the local humane society. They were all hard to give up, even though they went to good homes. We ended up keeping the last one and stopped fostering.
