I don't think that's what she was doing, pawing is a stress response and you can tell she was nervous about the box and hesitant to approach it, probably because it smelled like humans which are a predator to foxes, but the noise of the kits crying probably prompted her to go in and grab them.

Interesting how we all interpreted it differently. Foxes are incredibly intelligent though...and fantastic mothers too!

Recently, I've read an article about the link that has been established between the killing of foxes and the increase of lime disease. Everything in nature has a purpose, we humans don't see it because we are too stupid as a species (we've been on this planet for two seconds, compared to its history, and we've managed to screw things up in no-time)

I have a Fox that lives in a shed on my property. Every year she has a litter? 🤷♂️ of babies. I have no use for the shed, it is far back on the property (very secluded) so I let her have at it. Around sunup you see the babies start to venture out looking for mama to bring breakfast. It is adorable when they see her coming.

until they eat your Yorkie or give soneone rabies. Foxes can get quite large. And they are gettibg bold coming out towards adults and small children during the day. Beautiful animals, though. SEE VIDEOS ON KZbin OF FOXES .ATTACKING DOGS..They dont normaly attack dogs,.,.but rabies increases risk,.as does.cold winter when food aupply is low.

The mother probably did thinking it was a good place to raise them. However because of the high human traffic she probably wont be able to go to them as often as she needs to. Plus for the home owner its dangerous too have a wild mother animal with babies right under they're house. Foxes also smell horrible. The risk of the mother attacking the family or pets is high, plus the babies could wander out and end up getting hit by cars or hurt by pets. So moving them is a better option for the homeowner and the foxes.

I only think it’s justified if you have an infestation issue in your particular area. A lot of times it can become so severe they will kill your cats, chickens, or small dogs

yeah I get where your coming from but some people in the uk use that as an excuse to hunt them for pleasure and thrill. The way they deal with it is so savage and cruel. I don’t think anyone would like to be ripped apart by 20 or more hounds. There are plenty of alternative ways to deal with foxes more peacefully without resulting in their death. But again I understand your point of view.

she dug up a soft spot for her babies to land on. clever foxy mama. her babies weren't trapped under that porch, she had been using it as a den for weeks. it probably seemed safe and secure. what a terrifying shock to find monsters tearing it apart to get her babies and putting them all in a sack. she must have thought for sure they would all be eaten. lucky her I guess.

me personally I would have just let them be until they got older and "moved out" and then sealed up the deck. That was a safe space and they could be kept warm and safe there.

Animals teach us so much! Can't believe they're mothers out there who abandon their babies and throw them away and then u see this. Animals are more loving than people and even more humane.

I would just let them be. Why traumatize them by destroying their den ? They would have left in a few weeks anyway.

The house might have been abandoned and now there are humans again. Fox can be scared and will abandon it's children. It's better to remove fox family from place like this than then raise fox orphans)
