They don’t have thin hair to cut back on costs or because they expect people will never notice because she’s a collector doll, it’s to help the hair style look as flattering as possible. If she were fully rooted the top knot would be a bit too thick and unflattering. I like that they thought of this because I imagine they did lots of tests of this hairstyle and chose the best option.

HARD disagree. Sorry but no. Sunny wave 1 has two gorgeous buns on her head and is not bald whatsoever. And if it was to make the bun look better, the balding would have been symmetrical between the pink hair and black hair. Also the dress doesn’t fit and has also been an issue. MGA did us dirty 💯

exactly, it’s the same thing they’d to with the vintage ponytail barbies where they’d only root the perimeter of her head so when the hair was pulled back it was as sleek as possible and it didn’t get bulky. People are just overreacting to it

If you choose to repair the strap, add a dot of fabric glue between the dress and the strap. Once that is dry, add your stitch if you want. It will hold much better that way. You may to add a dot of glue to the other connection points to help prevent them from breaking.

Or add the glue after you've sewn it so you don't have to see through dried glue

I think they pulled a Barbie shortcut with the hair and certain items. Collector dolls still get opened and obviously they need to be reviewed so I don't understand why they would consider making shortcuts knowing reviews are gonna happen.

I like the doll, but the more I see her the more I'm willing to pass on her, at least at full price. Dolls with hair buns tend to be thinly rooted in general, so it doesn't surprise me that she has a thin spot. Great accessories and interesting style, though I would have preferred a doll with a black color scheme to be more like Ainsley from the show.

My dress fits poorly Velcro barely sticks it’s not an anomaly that she got a defected garment. Many reviewer’s have complained about the dress it’s flawed.

I know she’s been done as a collectors doll,but I bet there’s going to be a lot of young girls having this for Christmas.It’s no good just doing them as that as the kids are the ones who ultimately get upset when this doll is not perfect when they undo the long hair,or can’t put the dress on.I know how finicky I was with my dolls as a child ..How I wish the younger me just left my original Cindy in her box ..But I loved her and when I got older I even made her a 15th century dress lol..As I felt she was so sad being unloved in her knitted dress lol! But no matter how many collectors there are there are still many more young girls who have these and even if they did root it properly it just meany they would have had a slightly bigger bun.Shame on then.As the hair was thinner than the others.At least you were honest about her.Don’t worry what the others say love 🥰

May I point out that the way you were doesn't go for every child? You're picky and that's fine, it's just not how everyone is. And I mean no offense to anyone but if an actual kid (not a teen) has a fit about Jett not having super thick hair, that's because their parents and whatever media they are allowed to consume have influenced them to be picky. By default, kids aren't all as fussy as you are about their toys. My niece prefers her made to move Barbie over other Barbies simply because she watched me contort a made to move doll into a few yoga poses. She didn't care about the doll's "thinning" hair after she brushed it for a while until she saw me rooting highlights into a barbie to give her thicker hair. What she saw around her directly influenced how she felt about her dolls. Like her, I wasn't picky about my dolls early on. I loved them all just as they came until I was influenced by what I was seeing other people do with and say about their dolls.

For younger kids I'm assuming most aren't as attention orientated but plenty still are. It's also more common in those who are artistic, as they tend to pick up on balance etc more. I also didn't see anyone saying a kid would "have a fit," just be disappointed. They actually said "be upset," why did you interpret it to mean acting out or acting poorly or over the top? Kids, also more common in neurodiverse adults, especially get more joy out of things, so when it's not as good as expected that disappointment is larger. Similarly if the doll is better than average, or expected, they tend to appreciate it more & be even happier with them. Personally as a child I was always very analytical about most things, including my toys. No-one in my family, or family friends collected or reviewed dolls or toys. This was before the internet was widely available so I hadn't seen any reviews online & didn't even know other people collected dolls. That didn't stop me from reviewing them to myself. Then other kids reviewing & comparing their toys with me when we returned to school. In fact that's usually a natural part of child development. Of course children are influenced by their surroundings but they still have innate & unique personalities! I was also in a poor family, so only got a few toys on birthdays & Christmas, so when waiting for a year & opening the toy to find it not as good as the one I was looking at longingly in the catalog, yeah I would be upset, as in disappointed, unhappy, sad. Of course I still greatly appreciated everything I got & that didn't ruin the entire celebration but it still bothered me. I was also lucky to be raised in an environment where I was free to express myself & communicate openly, so if there was a flaw or issue I could state it outright. Often kids, in fact people in general, just don't share what they are thinking, so people can mistakenly draw uninformed conclusions. Often if I noticed there were flaws with items then my family could also ask for some money off, which being poor & following in my dad's bargain hunter footsteps, they actually appreciated!

I passed on Jett $57.99 was out of my price range I’m saving my money for Monster High Beetlejuice & Lydia for $90 🖤💚🤞. I do have Kia although I didn’t understand the $40 price point on her compared to Series 1-2 being $26.99 each. I want Series 3 all 6. Cheer also $22.99 didn’t seem like enough of a discount and winter break $36.99 is crazy to me luckily I got Sunny & Violet for $27 on Walmart. 👍👍👍 I agree earrings & a purse would have been nice RH needs to add some bracelets and necklaces too 🤞 we don’t get glasses either like omg dolls do.

Ah how lucky !!!! Today I gave up on buying the beetlejuice dolls since I really just want the originals...plus I went on a RH haul today, bought Amaya and Karma one for $26 the other for $34, I’m now just going to wait to get a job (I’m 16) and I’m going to be applying to jobs in the next few weeks ! If I do get one, I’m going to be buying some of the old MH dolls on eBay and buy the original RH dolls ☺️ I love collecting them (just keeping them in the box!)

I saw on Instagram Best Buy and Walmart are starting to list series 3 but not available just yet. My 7 year old daughter loves Monster High unfortunately we don't find dolls here and what we have aren't the greatest but I actually really like the mega bloks we have and mystery minis. Funko and rock candy ones were also fun as well. We do have a ghoulia that I believe is some sort of funko.

i feel like this dress is more suited for ruby, i just think the shade of red doesn’t go with jett’s hair or heels. imo it’s too dark and muted for her brighter rainbow aesthetic. maybe if it was that pink color in her hair or something it would match a little better but i really don’t like her in that dress lol, if i ever get her she’s staying in her black and white look

If I remember right, they called Kia a limited edition doll, rather than collector's. I'm not sure if that means they'll continue to make that distinction with different dolls or if they've decided to move away from limited edition dolls altogether. I think MGA 100% banked on people who bought Jett also buying the closet because the earrings in the closet got perfect with Jett's Dress and scrappy sandals. Bit no one should have e to spend another $60 to complete a creator doll's ensemble. 😒 I actually put my Kia Heart in the evening gown and I think her rainbow pumps with the black soles actually go better with the gown than Jett's sandals do. Honestly after seeing previews of Mattel's upcoming Beetlejuice set and the $90 point, I feel really good about the price point on Jett Dawson. I think pre-covid this would have been a $50 set, but the $8ish bump, for me, was worth paying.

I had trouble with the dress also and keeping the velcro in the back together. I don't think 57$ was worth it, I think its more a 40-50$ price point. It 100% should have came with earrings. I think the hair style fits the outfit she’s in but irs to simple for that dress and the shoes are so plain. The box plastic is pretty flimsy and there are WAY TO MANY LITTLE PLASTIC THINGS all over the dress. Makes it to easy to rip. The bow not centered drives me crazy.

Honestly, little straps on dolls are always a scary fragile thing for me, i always use fabric glue to glue them the second i open it, so it doesn't surprise me her strap broke so easily. I think they should've left the straps out, because many kids not knowing will pull onto straps to pull the dress up.

With the back bow, looks like the box art has it in the middle, but all the pics i see of it online look like its off centre on purpose. which might be part of the style. and also easier to keep the bow upright and looking nice, when taking the dress on and off multiple times

I love Jett’s face (especially the matte finish) and hair colour (maybe not the style so much), but the outfits are not my taste and the overall look is not really cohesive. She is certainly worth $60 when compared to Barbies in that price range, but she’s not worth that much to me, especially in Canada where she will likely be $95 CAD. I’m looking forward to some of the series 3 dolls. It won’t surprise me if they go up in price, though.

I just got Jett and took down her hair. Mine is super, super thin on top on the rainbow side, but not the black side for whatever reason. I decided to do a partial reroot on her. The positive thing is that her face is genuinely gorgeous.

Buy a $60 Barbie or another collector edition doll and take their hair down, I've never seen anyone make a fuss about a doll having thin hair for a permanent style. Do what you want with your dolls, just saying, nobody took down that $100 Barbie's ponytail~ then people still justify the $50 bratz that came out in 2018 (I think it was 2018? Can't remember) What is the standard!?

My opinion of doll is they rush it too soon, the packaging is not good quality. They should next year when things get back to normal release the doll in better quality and add extra dress plus put in white/black box with artwork of doll.

The hair is thinner on top because the top knot would stick up to high otherwise. I'm sure you've seen the original Barbie's that are bald under the ponytail. If they wanted to save money they would not have made a top knot.

I feel like her dress would look great on Ruby. I haven't gotten her, but it's really a shame that the dress is so fragile. The hair is understandable though, even if it isn't in doll customizers' best interest. I am also not really into the style of her first outfit, so I don't know if I will get her.

The bald spot, like many other dolls both Barbie and more use this technique because with more hair, the bun wouldn't be the size that seems reasonable. Doll hairstyles are less achievable when the dolls have thick rooting, which is why the sparse rooting or bald spots are necessary. While I can understand it being seen as "cheap" from face value, but being a doll collector for many years and noticing these kinds of things in doll design, you kinda understand why it was done. Honestly they could have done her bun without the bald spot, with just sparse rooting or being creative with the style, but alas.

Not related to the doll, but I had bought those same exact earrings from your wearing from hottopic online, and the broke immediately after I took them out the packaging 😩 and they were sold out too Anyways $60 is two lol dolls, and honestly I feel like she doesn’t have the same worth of that as pretty as she is. The extras she comes with isn’t really above and beyond compared to a regular rh doll. I feel like a 40-50 price range would have been fairer :/ will definitely be waiting for it to shelf sit.

The dress not fitting is something I experienced with my first poppy.. I couldn’t get it off. When I tried the mesh ripped down the sides. It makes me question how it was put on her if i can’t get it off without breaking.

I read someone's comment that these are not made for adults and they are called toys for a reason! If that were the case then they should be 'pocket money' prices. Thinking of Barbie BMR1959, the one with the top knot and braids. I took down her top knot and it looks great and she was a lot cheaper. There really is no excuse for this shoddy work.

Honestly I don’t think I’ll buy her, at least not at full price, if the hair is thin and the second outfit doesn’t even fit. Even though I didn’t like the second outfit it’s still disappointing that it doesn’t fit and I don’t even want the extra props with her. I wanted to change her hairstyle too so the balding is really upsetting since it’s almost like how Mattel treats us with their poor quality dolls sometimes

I just got this doll today, compared to the rest of the range I feel jet is definitely overpriced. The fit of the dress is very poor, even on jet herself, I don’t think they ever wanted her to be out of her box….. but the problem is this marketed at children, sold in a toy shop, I wouldn’t say that she is fit to be called a toy. It’s also worth noting that the buckles on the jacket are metal and are already discolouring the white material. I also feel the red dress just doesn’t work with her hair

This doll is actually probably one of my favorites ones they released. I actually bought 2 to keep one in box and the other out of box. First impressions taking her out weren't to bad. I made sure to be gentle and not rough house every item out of the box. I mean i know every doll is different but my doll had plenty of hair and was fully rooted and it wasn't thin. I know there's different variations but some people get lucky with the one we choose. I honestly ususally like her reviews but she honestly sounds a little salty MGA didn't send her a free doll or numbered one for that matter. From review to review she's a little wish washy for my liking Money well spent

Well at the end when she said idk I was like what because you have to realize that the doll it’s self is $20-$40 so if it is a collectors edition and it has more detail and more aesthetic then it’s gonna be more expensive but they could have improved by putting a stretchier fabric for the dress and more hair on where the Balder spot is that is my take on this video

I don't like the tights because we had the same pair of pants before but in different colors. For $60 I do not want to see repeat or recolored pieces. Plus I just don't like any of the clothes with this doll. It's not my style. I love her face and hair though and I hoping I can get her on clearance or thrift find her some day.

I am so disappointed with the overall quality of this Special Edition! I bought two at 30 each and will be returning one of them. This has Mattel vibes. Barbie started out great quality and look at her now. I hope this isn't a downhill trend with MGA.

How many got Holiday Barbie for Christmas? It's fine $60. The point is kids get these dolls.... It's done wrong PERIOD. SUNNYs knots... Hair was perfect and some laid down like a bun when redone like SailorMoon. The dress is Scarey. I sew. But can you imagine a parent putting on this dress. Kids put on and take off. Collectors keep on in box and buy second and sell pieces. It's a disaster... We all bought her. Do better MGA.
