Holy shit Tara! Such an incredible performance under extremely tough and difficult conditions. Living at sea level and running at high altitudes is a big disadvantage for sure. I wonder if a liquid meal replacement might be easier to keep down instead of solid food. For example, Ka ’Chava or Huel makes liquid shakes that can be used for endurance sports. I'm definitely not a nutritionist, but just a thought in case you haven't tried using them. Looking forward to your next race and will be sure to say hello the next time I visit REI. You are truly an amazing talent and a gifted athlete! 🙂

Just watched the video, great job with everything. I am considering doing this one next year. I get the difference between the tortoise and the hares. What happens if a tortoise comes in with a great time, such as beating several hares? Could they possibly place overall in the race? 🐰

This was so inspiring and congratulations! I’m running my first ultra in Colorado this July (Pikes Peak Ultra 50k) and I live in Louisiana. Did you find the heat training and sauna helpful for the elevation? You didn’t seem to struggle with the altitude and that’s my biggest concern.

Yes the sauna and heat training is so good for us low landers. I’d recommend that and a 2 weeks acclimation period if you can swing it
