@@aaronzmikly Blender seems to have separated Point Instance into two different sets of nodes - Point distribution and Instancing. Under 'Point' you can find nodes to distribute disconnected vertices across a surface or throughout a volume, and under 'Instances' you can use 'Instance on Points' to select a mesh and then wire it into the output. This expands on the idea of Point instance by allowing you to modify the way the points are distributed completely separate from what mesh is being instanced. I have not practiced a lot with these different nodes but I know you can achieve the same effect with those two nodes alone.

How do you do in 3.0?
@singlsrvngfrnd3 жыл бұрын
Group Input > Distribute Points on Faces > Instance on Points > Scale Instances > Group Output Object info > (instance plugin) on Instance on Points Random Value >( scale plugin) on Instance on Points Hopefully this makes sense, it works for me.

At 3:21 if anyone is doing this in 3.0, you need to use the instance on points and an object info node. Plug the object info into instance on the instance on points node, and the group input into points on the instance on points node, then the instances into the group output.

Honestly, the best part of all of these Blender Tutorial videos is less the tutorials themselves, and more all the Blender functionality I keep on discovering. Like, I straight up didn't know that Geometry Nodes were a thing until now, and until yesterday I also didn't know that you could alter the shader of Lights via nodes >>

Love this one. What is challenging is the changes to geometry node in blender 3.1 and how you instance geometry on points. Seem so easy on your video but in 3.1 I had to figure out to instance the geometry and the randomness. It was go to figure it out on my own but not easy. I love your videos as I learn so much. Thanks.

Hey there, so I used this amazing tutorial to create something on my own. My color scheme is white and gold, so the scene isn't dark and you can clearly see the voronoi pattern being the same on every single cube and since my camera points downwards more, you can clearly see it. I mean, makes sense, since we basically just duplicated the same cube over and over. I know about the Object info node and looking at the "random" option with node wrangler clearly shows what I want: A different color for every individual cube. But my problem is: how do I include it in my shader? Mine is basically the same as yours. How do I make every cube look different? I just can't wrap my head around where to include the Object info - Random (if thats what I need for this anyway.) Thank you so much in advance! EDIT: Okay I've found a solution just seconds after commenting. I've plugged the "Object Info - random" node into the "Rotation" of the Mapping node. In my opinion this should just rotate the texture on every cube so it would still be the same texture on every cube, but instead it gave me exactly what I wanted to! EDIT2: Okay, it wasn't all that random. A lot of cubes still looked very similar. I just added a math (multiply) node in between Object info and Mapping and cranked that number up! EDIT3: Okay, now a new problem emerged. I've checked the old save file and all I canged was to put the random node into the rotation. it all works in Eevee, but in cycles I now have only solid white or solid gold cubes.

Do you mind asking a question to you. I have a complex model. Is it possible to slide stroke effects along object 's contours as procedural In the other words, How to trim line art strokes and then how to scroll along contours? Since the model is so complex there is no option to extract countour edges into curves in order to make strokes follow along curves. So i need to find out some procedural
