Are New Film Cameras a Scam?

What do the Smartflex, Wideluxx, and Analogue AF1 all have in common?

This year, 2025, has some interesting new film cameras that are releasing, and there has been some very polarizing reception around the cameras, and specifically, the pricing. Both the Smartflex and the Wideluxx have gotten some, in my opinion, harsh criticism from a good portion of film photographers. I wanted to clear the air, and address my issues with the public notion that these cameras are scams or ripoffs. From what we've seen historically for niche cameras like this, even when film was it's most popular, they fall in line with pricing. What do you think?
