Hey Jim, I know this video has been out for a while, but I just got my laser engraver in November. Ortur laser master 3 10w. I painted up a canvas, and made a tear area on a second one to find the magic number. I actually had to stop the test and drop the max power down even lower, and it turned out to be 3.5% max power. Do you remember if you had to go that low on canvases? I know your ceramic tiles are around 15% from your other video, so I thought this was really really low for some reason.

Hi! I get a lot of my info from the facebook groups I am in. I would find some of those to start! You can do as many colors as you want in and fashion that you want. So they don't have to be overlapped, the colors could be next to each other too! This should work with any diode laser, but you may have to adjust power and speed. Also, maybe several passes may need to be used.

Hi - Thanks teaching all of us. Laser engraving is new to me, but i'm fighting a unexpected issue whit Disconnecting Laser during engraving/cutting. My question is simple : Do you have any disconnect problem while engraving/cutting ? Background. Got the Ortur Laser Master 2 delivered directly form factory in china November 2020. Easy assembled and lineup. Got my older HP laptop on 32 bit Win 7 on the job, downloaded newest installation packet from Ortur. Installed respective Driver and LaserGRBL Controle and LightBurn software. From here I got real hard times - Thus follow instruction and celebrate when the machine engraved my materials so Nice ! --- But disappointed Every single engraving job got a disconnect during the jobs. Well played around www and used all my windows skills to fix all Power settings on USB.. Amputating that Win 7 form all possible resource consuming processes. OK - Realized I need a newer PC to this. Now on a fancy Dell Laptop and fresh installed 64 bit Win10Pro - Drivers and LightBurn in place. Great success engraving some jobs form earlier - Big Smile.. :-) Then Shure that all is good I started an 200x200mm canvas image as you teach me :-) Quit early It shows ad bit over burned, but let it run who cares.. DAMM again 3:35:48 and 75% don I got DISCONNECETD !! So: My question is simple : Do you have any disconnect problem while engraving/cutting ? Thanks Sorry English is not my native..

I have a sculpfun Diode and ive only done a handful of projects..I want to do the multi colored canvas images and I have attempted/practice on a screw up canvas that I painted over with black(but it was covered in acrylic paint, not spray paint) first mistake for the practice one was perhaps acrylic paint over probably too thick. Which I do clean carefully..but question is am I weakening the laser by burning through paint?

I know this is a few weeks late and will get buried, but does doing this put off fumes from burning the paint? I know on lots of materials you need ventilation, how bout this? been thinking about getting the ortur as it seems to be the best quality for price right now, but I don't have a garage or a ventilated area to use it, unless I sit it out on my balcony while it's in operation. Also would you need the 20w version or would the lower watt versions still work this well?
@TheEdgeofTech4 жыл бұрын
Hey! I would always recommend ventilation for a laser. Burning anything puts out fumes and breathing them isn't good for you. Also, if you just wanted to do things like this and not worry about cutting, the lower watt versions would be fine!

@@TheEdgeofTech Thanks for the reply and the info! I'm debating if saving up the extra $100 for the 20w vs 7w is worth it. I'm thinking yes. I know this is an older video as I've been exploring the world of laser cutting/engraving just this week. I thought this is one of the coolest ideas to get different colors into a laser engraved item. I'm a photography guy so obviously familiar with canvas. Other popular media options for mounting photographs are acrylic and metal. Have you tried painting layers of color into either acrylic or metal and them laser engrave an image? I also think with acrylic you could start with a different color and also use backlighting with translucent acrylic depending on the paint. Would be interesting to see if anyone has tried this.
@martinduffy38353 жыл бұрын
You think this would work on 1/4" acrylic for keychains ? I bought some colored acrylic from trotec in Canada for $35 for one sheet... outrageous.
