The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Less than 10 years old, I would ride along my brother Ronnie, the COOLEST brother a guy could ever have, no argument. It was either a Camaro RS, one of his Vettes, or my favorite, the Anniversary Edition Trans Am (454 4bbl dual exhaust 4 sp, he once told me "Nobody beat me".) with the Gold bird on the hood. It didn't matter, he would have the 8 track or cassette or radio on LOUD and these guys would be playing their hearts out on MANY a blessed occasion. Nowadays, Ronnie rules the racetracks and dragstrips in heaven and STILL nobody beats him.

I had the biggest crush on Rob Grill and my bestie had a crush on Warren Entner. We got to meet them at a concert in the late 60’s. They were so sweet to us young teens. And they were more gorgeous in person!! We got their autographs and gave them stupid ropes made out of folded chewing gum paper. LOL! They were the same length as their height. Bless their hearts…they probably thought what the heck are these things! But they were gracious and sweet. Great memories….❤❤❤❤

Every video I’ve seen of these guys looks like they are having fun and genuinely like each other and get along - especially Rob and Warren. Dennis is always smiling. They seem to have some inside jokes, especially where they are lip syncing. Turtles (for sure) and Sweet seemed to enjoy themselves as well. As opposed to, say, the Eagles, who never looked happy to me for one second. Fleetwood Mac are awesome musicians but, except for Christine McVie and Mick Fleetwood, also seemed to have some pent-up issues with each other and we all know why or think we know anyways.

I still have the 45 of this song. The Grass Roots are stellar. The boys are so handsome.

The backing musicians on the recorded 'Midnight Confessions' was The Wrecking Crew, with the great Carol Kaye playing the bass and the most recorded drummer in history(so far) the legendary Hal Blaine.

The producers insisting on using the wrecking crew is one of the reasons Creed left the band.

I always liked the horns in the backgrounds. Anyone know who played the horn parts?

@@boydx4687 there are 7 musicians playing the brass parts, I don't know their names offhand. I'm sure you could find it on Google or Wikipedia. Yes those horns really beef up the song!

Some say the bass in Midnight Confessions is Joe Osborn. But nevertheless shine with their own light

I got to party with them in Bellingham before and after their concert at Western Washington College in early 1969 right after Golden Grass came out. I was 18 and pretty star struck. I remember diving under the stage to retrieve a drum stick after Rick lost one. 55 years ago. How did that happen? RIP Rick and Rob. Thanks for the music.
