Goldfinger for me. Everything Quintessentially Bond was in that film. When I think of Connery as Bond this is the film that instantly floods my mind. As I say I do like Thunderball and it is probably my close run second favourite to From Russia with Love. But Goldfinger fantastic, top 3 Bond film easily for me.

he didn't pass out; he was a sound booth and he held onto something in case he did and said when he opened his eyes after hitting and holding the note, things were spinning a bit but he did not pass out. Not sure why that rumor persists when he has explained it numerous times in interviews. Makes sense he wouldn't do it here on this show - at least in a recording studio if someone messes up the recording, they can re-do - here he wouldn't be able to

I do agree...live performance....when recording to the movie,the high C,was strenuous.Tom dropped to B one second before to fit the score harmony.His strategy was very clever,but in a live presentation was very risky.Rarely a pop singer needs to sing that note.Great Tom Jones !!!

My mom used to tell us to be quiet when he sang on TV. We weren’t allowed to make a sound on fear of death lol. She would sit on the couch with huge eyes and adoration on her face. Been watching Pluto TV, James Bond Channel and when this theme plays it always sounds so dramatic. Seeing and hearing Tom Jones sing it live(to a backing track?) is amazing. But notice he doesn't(or can't) hold that last note of the song. Jones says he almost passed out in the studio after holding that note for the entire length of the chart. When you hear the Bond rendition, you can believe it too...Love this movie with two of my childhood(and still) female crushes...Claudine Auger and Luciana Paluzzi; they are amazing, classy women of that era.
