I'm right there with you as far as technique goes! I've been getting fantastic results since my navy days of shining my boots to a high mirror shine. My only thing is I've been using standard Kiwi products...I am going to look into some of these products you're using in this video to step my game up. I'm 31, and I have noticed most people around my age have no clue how to shine shoes. A colleague of mine was about to throw his shoes out until I told him I could bring them back to life for him. I gave him a mirror shine and had them looking better than the day he bought them. I think it's important to pass on this information to other generations because shoe shining is becoming a lost art. Thank you SO much for making these videos and sharing your magic with the world.

Absolutely beautiful video. Love the angle of the shots, the voice-over narration, and the music. I'd gone and purchased both these shoes (already had on my radar, but this video convinced me to pull the trigger) and a bottle of Bick 4. Thanks so much for the inspiration and instructional tips!

Reminds me of my days as an Boy Scout as we had inspection every week and the Scoutmaster had been one of the brylcream boys as Royal Canadian Air Force Officers were known as. Spit and polish and being a gentleman was instilled into us. It has continued to be whom I am these continuing years. It has stood me well both as a military officer myself apart FM my University days and now many years retired. Keep the standard in front of the present generation. Thank you

Thank you for the informative video. You've got great shining skills and a solid explanations of each step. Would you bother making a video on cotton chamois? Something along the lines of: "how to make one on your own? how to wrap it around your fingers properly? Dos and don'ts of maintaining one" etc. Cheers!

Thank you. I will definitely make one. Preliminarily, you can cut up a cheap XXL 100% cotton T-shirt into strips to use. It’s the cheapest method I’ve found. As long as it’s 100% cotton, it will work just as good as anything I’ve found.

When I was in the Navy I always took good care of my boots because when you got a new pair it would take 5-6 hours to get the heels and toes mirrored. He does a good job in the video but that is a mid grade mirror shine. For the people who are willing to put the time in you can get a shine so mirrored you would swear they were chloroframs.

@@andyaitken4243 haha I used a lighter in the early years but as time went on I found there were no short cuts to a mirror finish and I would spend hours making little circles lol. After that I only used a lighter to melt a tin of wax that was old and cracked. Made it fresh and new

Hi. Great great video. It's as relaxing to watch your video as it is to actually shining my shoes. I have a question. Every shoe shine tutorial misses one important point; that being to allow the wax layer to sit for a while and dry out before you start working it. I have recently started doing it and have found the mirror shine sticks well, stays on the shoe longer and makes the overall process quicker. Is there a reason why nobody tells this in the tutorials? May be there is something I am doing wrong?
@TheElegantOxford
@TheElegantOxford 5 жыл бұрын
Depending on the wax, the method you just mentioned will not always work. I’ve had varying results but no longer let it dry. If it works for you then thats fantastic. Thank you for sharing that tip.
