This video got me to thinking and remembering thank you. I remember when I was a young girl in grade school and I would go to my aunt and uncles house out in the country and spend the night with them or the weekend I absolutely loved it. My family and I lived in town, and my aunt and uncle lived in the country. I would beg to do the chores their kids loved it when I came to stay because they got a break I did it all the chickens the cows the pigs. And I loved it and I remember the Lord telling me one day I would have a farm. I was probably seven or eight when he told me that. And I didn’t get that farm until I was 62. But a farm I have. With milk cows and a horse and dogs and cats and chickens, and a garden. And a bedroom upstairs, and a barn, and a creek. And I love it all. Life is good.❤️

I felt this one deep to my core ❤ You two have such a way with words in describing and looking at ordinary things in such a meaningful way. I grew up in the suburbs. My husband and I aspire to live a more back to the basics and traditional life style- we hope to one day have a homestead of our own. But this way of living has been something I’ve felt drawn and loved for as long as I can remember. Watching you guys feel the nostalgia and talk about these things, brought that home for me too. It’s like I’m there feeling all the things with you.

Cream of wheat wasn’t a breakfast in uk, but rough oatmeal cooked into porridge with water and salt, then topped with a spoonful of cream from the top of the milk. That was my childhood breakfast.

My mom used to put cocoa in our cream of wheat. Finding a lump was like finding a prize. We used to roll it in sugar and it tasted like chewy sweetness.

I’m turning turning 60 this Wednesday. Seeing your baby lambs takes me back to 1973. My two sisters & I showed Hampshire sheep in 4-H. I won grand champion market lamb our first year. My sister won in the ewe class. We bought 3 lambs that year. From there we built up our own sheep. The memories of feeding, cleaning the barn. Having lambs in the spring. Helping my dad bail hay. It was a blessing. Blessings are from the Lord Jesus!☺️

I love your family and how you live! Every time my husband and I drive from the Seattle area, where we live, to Monroe, then over the pass and through Leavenworth, heading towards Wenatchee, I instantly think of your family and how you used to say that you lived in the shadow of the Cross - I'm not sure if that cross is there anymore, but I always look for it, and imagine your little cottage tucked away in the mountainside with all your gardens and farm animals... You have become nostalgic for me and I wanted to say Thank you, and I pray many blessings for a wonderful New Year 2024 for you! xoxoxoxox

Adorable baby Lamb❣️. Growing up we ate Cream of wheatout of a box with milk and sugar 😋. Wood smoke smells when taking an evening walk beings be back home to our little fishing village ❤. We were not fortunate like you to have it fresh ground, but we enjoyed it on a cold winters day. When my mum visited me here in VT. I would take her for a ride through the Country. She would have fond memories from the smells that brought her back to her childhood farming with here Dad🤗. JO JO

I can still see my mom cooking wheat by her cook stove for breakfast. It wasn’t cream of wheat from a box. She also made oatmeal and corn mush. It’s good to remember those things every day we are doing things that will evoke nostalgia down the road.

My nostalgia of my youth on the farm are so many. Picking blackberries, playing on haystacks, running through the path between the cotton fields to the neighbors. Watching my aunt and great grandmother work in the garden. Taking my turn sitting on the ice cream maker. Love your videos.

Your family is blessed with your lifestyle, your farm. The hard dedicated work proves just beautiful! Most of us are unable to aquire it. I love cream of wheat, but quit eating it because of the ingredients, so, thank you for this recipe. You are totally spot on with the earth. The smell, the grounding, the healing of it, our total connection to it, thank you Lord for it.

My sisters and I ate Cream of wheat often when we were kids in the late 80’s - 90’s. My mother made it with butter, milk and sugar. Sometimes with honey if we had it. It was one of my favorite breakfasts.❤️ Also, it did come from a box and yes, there was a guy on the front in a chef’s hat that has since been removed. For the same reason that uncle Ben was removed from his rice.

Your kitchen evokes genuine emotion in me. It’s such a cozy loving place, and I pray that it continues to nourish your family for many many years to come❤. My grandmother used to make us the BEST cream of wheat. With butter, sugar, a pinch of salt, and milk. I think I may have some tomorrow morning. Thank you for invoking nostalgia!

It is amazing how taste and smell brings back memories... when I eat raw sunflower seeds, I remember my mom's homemade Granola... when I am in the Dollar Store and smell that sickly sweet plastic smell, I am reminded of those Liddle Kiddles in the plastic colored eggs that we played with back in the 70's. Aaaggh! Farm boots in the house, in the kitchen...after walking through who know what in the farm! Lol!

Diesel and cow manure…. Not weird at all ! Those are two of my favorite smells too! It smells ‘clean and homely’ to me in a weird way. Soil does that for me. And sourdough starter rising in its jar. Or the smell of smoke and sweat in work clothes even after they’ve been washed.

It is not weird at all to get nostalgic smelling cow or horse manure. Dog poop, not so much. Music has a strong nostalgic pull for me. Songs themselves remind me of people or instances in my life, not the lyrics themselves.
