Men and women need to be more responsible in situations like this. If men don't want to co parent with a woman then they should take steps to avoid getting them pregnant. Women need to stop using pregnancy to fix a bad relationship, keep a man, or chase a bag. The innocent children are the ones that suffer the most. By the way, this Shumake Way guy is fake; he's a panderer.

I grew up in a two parent household and I was a daddy’s girl too. My family wasn’t perfect but my parents made sure that I was loved and cared for. I had friends that grew up in single parent household. I had a friend who didn’t have the best relationship with his father which I always thought was sad because of how his father would treat him. He was barely in his life. It’s really sad when children have to grow up with a single parent. It’s good to have both parents. I’m not saying that you can’t thrive in a single parent household but it’s essential. Also I think it’s important to be careful who you have children with. It’s detrimental to a child’s life to not have a stable home environment. At the end of the day the children’s happiness should come first. Sometimes the child grows to resent the parents.

There are many children who grow up in single parent households who have great relationships with their father. Also just because your parents live in the same household doesn't equate to happiness because I know plenty of people who grew up in toxic two parent households . I never want to have children. (I'm a lesbian) so the idea of conception is expensive, invasive and faulty. As well as I personally don't want to raise children in a nontraditional household because other kids are mean, those kids parents may be mean and speak harshly and then my kids are outcasts 🙃 Hating me or my to be wife because we were selfish and decided to have children. I didn't like my childhood. Fixing how I think because of what I experienced in my childhood is exhausting and an uphill battle 24/7. It's just not necessary. If I did want kids maybe I'd adopt but nah I really am against the idea of kids. I'm okay.

I think that men should also stop putting their selves in a situation to where they have to co parent. A lot of baby daddy's cheated or abused their bm and play victim later or get mad at court decision. Also some women should stop going with men knowing that the relationship isn't going to work out. Bc a lot of women already know how their bd is before they lay with each other. And co parenting isn't hard if the ppl that co parents are mature and respect each other decisions

If I ever was to split with my child’s parent they coming with ME there will be no custody battles nothing. There’s too many men out there if one can’t step up another will. A great man stepped up for my mother and sisters and I was left to be raised by my father cuz my mom thought it was a better option. 😭 my father let me be abused by my step mother cuz she was mad he was cheating. I grew up in a two parent household but my dad had my older sister from his previous marriage. Even though he was an active father he still paid child support. So my position on it has always been child support is meant to make up for what you would’ve paid if y’all were living together. Child care is a daily expense and both parents should be responsible for that daily expense. So if one parent is the primary parent they should be receiving child support. It’s not just for dead beats. It’s for whoever isn’t the primary guardian. If your child lives with the grandparents then the grandparents can request child support from the parents.

My siblings were so used to our parents being low on money and them saying no to things we wanted that once they started getting more money, it felt weird to ask for anything. This Christmas my mom asked what we wanted and she said she couldn't believe the list's were so small. 1/2 of that is because we're older and the other half is because we are stuck in that mental mindset that, "Ma can't afford that so don't ask." I used to be the little girl. My parents were married for two years before they had me though but I relate to missing your dad while living with your mum. I'd visit him every other weekend and I got along with him a lot more after my parents separated him because he was always at work and when he was home, he wasn't the most stable. KZbin would've considered my dad 'high value' because he had a good job, bought 4 bedroom house and gave my mum an allowance although he was raised working class by a single mother. Unfortunately, my dad would also claim my mum would live in a life of luxury for the child support money he was giving her... It was collectively £10, a £5 each month for me and my sister. That's not even a Starbucks. He eventually stopped working altogether not too long after the separation. Whenever men complain or even mention not seeing their kids and child support, I'll just assume they're like my dad and I've never been wrong. This man reminds me of what my dad used to say to our extended family in that he was always there etc. etc. but behind the scenes, there's always more they're not telling you. And even though I still love my dad deep down and speak to him, I know he's not someone I've ever been able to rely on financially and he'll get defensive if I ever mention he wasn't there for me when I was growing up. That's partly why I have a detached attachment style from my parents, I'm just used to them not being around.

And most who get shown the world so early tend to have a very harsh approach to life.. hustling, shady deals, and never feeling secure. They're innocent. So telling your kid your broke you can't have that is just wrong. Instead we should teach kids how to appreciate what they have and tell them you'd have to save up before you can get the toy they're looking at.

My parents are divorced. My parents didn’t have a bad relationship but my dad was active duty military and usually lived far away. To this day, we aren’t really close. My dad is remarried and my half brother grew up with two parents sort of because my dad was gone a lot. There were times I was told no because we didn’t have the money but it wasn’t for necessities. Like I begged my mom to go to boarding school. She told me at the time she didn’t want me to leave home before college but as an adult she admitted she couldn’t afford it. My mom’s bf’s kids went to boarding school. I grew up in a family where most people are married. it was common for the kids in my family and kids I went to school with to have to parents at home. However, many of the men in my family have a lot of extramarital affairs and some have outside kids (like TM’s dad does). But I’m middle class and Southern as far as culture. I also think a lot of men are only interested in taking care of their kids as long they are in a romantic relationship with the woman. I have seen a lot of men do more for and spend quality time with their stepkids and not their own.

As you said people don’t want to take accountability for their actions and like he said, think about those kids, you’d be surprised how many kids are totally traumatised because the parents made the mistake of not using ‘birth control’ or just having kids with someone that you don’t know enough or y’all don’t have a connection. It’s the poor kids that end up with issues in the long run. Think long and hard about who you make a child with.

I grew up in a one parent household until my mom got remarried but that not to say my father wasn’t in my life, he very much was and even when both my mom and dad didn’t have it they’d let me know which I can honestly say I appreciated it a lot. My dad always told me that he’s not gonna promise me a red shiny bike and then come time I can’t get it meaning he’s not gonna make me a promise that he can’t keep and til this day that stuck with me and I say that now in my everyday life. I’d rather my parents keep the level honesty they showed then, because it gave me a real outlook on life in my opinion

But what this comment makes me think about is: a lot of men don’t want women to have any kind of assistance yet she has to work and be a full time parent with no help to lighten the parenting load. They call bw welfare queens but what are they supposed to do when they have to foot the bill alone for ch*ldren that are expensive even for two parents to handle?

My daughters miss their dad too because we lived together until she was 6yrs old. I really tried to stop us from getting a divorce and I understood the emotional conflict that would come. But I couldn't live in the situations of cheating and disrespect. Sadly some men don't see that when the want to love their Fake herum, single bachelor's life. Too me it was so easy of a choice deal with my husband that was not as affectionate , but he worked hard and was was a not so bad. Not my dream soul mate. But I know we could have loved q good life if we worked at it mutually. But some men want 2 sleep around leave you emotionally void and them it get worse because they don't make a mistake they really want to make it a lifestyle. This is what I have come to see with many of these men that cheat.. especially in the Haitian community. The second generation of women we really want out emotional sanity and we have security in work and child support.

Some men have to get on child support in order to see their child because his court appointed for visitation at that point. My brother had to deal with the same thing with his baby mama not wanting him to see his kids but Still wanted the financial support. When he moved on she got violent and crazy towards him. He got on child support so it was required for him to see his children. This way the mother can’t just say you can’t see your kids, the mother keeps the father away from the kids when they have a court appointed order he can temporarily get full custody of the children if she violates the order at all. Child support doesn’t only protect the mother it also protects the father. Mom can’t just up and leave cross state without communicating with the father first. The mother can’t just take the child whenever she wants either.

I didn't know my parents were struggling, but I didn't really want much as a child to realize it. My parents were very close with their family so family members helped make christmas miracles happen. It makes sense now as an adult, I just thought my parents werent materialistic. My dad is cheap even when he didnt need to be so I figured thats why I didnt have a lot we just had enough

People are always shocked when I say that I had 2 parents that stayed married the whole time up until my father passed away. And no one in either side of my family have ever been divorced. There are no separations, step parents, step kids, half siblings. We just don’t believe in that, and it’s not a religious thing. We all just know that the person we marry is who you stay with no matter what for the sake of the kids. You work out your issues for the kids. And like you said, it’s not perfect. Some couples are toxic. But they’re trying their best for the sake of the whole family unit, and not thinking in a selfish way. Like they are mad so they’re going to just leave. Absolutely not. And guys get mad on dating sites all the time because I refuse to date anyone with kids. Because that’s showing me that you and I already dont have the same values. If you had children out of wedlock, our values dont align. If you are only 25 and you’ve been divorced and have kids, our values REALLY dont line up. You should’ve thought about your future more before choosing a partner to have children with. Cause when I get married, it’s one and done.

@@TheeMademoiselle i understand its for the kids and its not based on time. But since they are 50/50 on everything including expenses both should be paying child support or neither. But if they must pay both should and the money should be put in a special account that both have access to, to use on the kids only.

@@deasyastarr it was a genuine question I had ,thee mademoiselle explained it. I understand its for the kids financial security. I think the statistics conflict depending on the area. I grew up with my brother and a single mother. Everyone else around me had 2 parents so I always felt like the oddball. When I went to middle school that’s when things started to change and people with similar circumstances as mine were more prevalent.

My parents are the same way as yours. People would always get surprised that my parents are still together. Been married 30+ years. They never gave me a cell phone or nothing. Not because they didn’t want to but they’re taught me to get my own and I appreciate them for it now that I’m older. They were more nicer to my friends back then though lol 😂. But I still have a strong relationship with both of them. We’re like best friends but they’re my parents first always.

4:30 concerning that bit, I'd have to say that yeah, it's good to let your kids know that there may not be money for some things BUT the kids don't need to know exactly HOW broke you are. When that happens, you'll end up with kids stressed about everything you listed and kids who end up losing a piece of their childhood and grow up too fast

22:00 okay reallll quick story. My ex (only ex) bluntly hinted that she was ring shopping for me and had really *special* plans for my birthday. The night the ring came in, which was a week or two before my birthday she showed me the ring and asked me if "I wanted her to ask the question" biggest red flag of my life. Why would that be the question? So I told her to take the ring back without answering anything else. Mainly because the ring didn't fit me. It didn't speak to who I was at all and I thought THAT spoke MOUNTAINS. If she was serious about marriage she wouldn't have taken the ring back and kept the money. She would've either A asked me why I felt that way B kept it and asked anyways C taken it back and gotten a different one or D none of the above. Clearly she went with D and I'm now single and extremely grateful that I trusted my gut for once.
