Hi Jesse, like any leather glove you need to treat them with wax or similar to keep them waterproof. Personally I have found that Ninja Ice Fishing gloves ($17) are the best for winter, if you are working with your hands. I've used them down to below -30C with great results. They normally last me at least a year, and at the cheap price I keep a dry pair in my jacket and swap them over if they do get wet 👍

Micheal, don't apologize for honesty, especially in something as subjective as a gear review. You were kinder than many others would have been, for sure. That one finger issue alone would have set me ablaze! Great job! 👍 ... But this is exactly why I've hated to see some of my more favourite channels turn into mostly gear review channels - having to deal with the pressure and distraction of monitary and 'sponsorship' considerations. Even if they do not sponsor your channel, whenever a company gives you free stuff with the understanding of getting your ((hopefully for them, positive) review, it must feel like a mini-sponsorship, no? Any way, well done. (Not a fan of fancy gloves. I like good leather or military-grade mitts and pair them with lined leather gloves as needed.)

Excellent review Mike. I remember also, from your 2 day winter camp video, that you mentioned the gloves were difficult to use where dexterity was needed, that you would have to take them off to be able to handle finer work. Do you still feel that way about the gloves or was the dexterity problem specific to the improper finger sizing on the right glove?
@TheEmporiumOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi Myn6211 - I think generally any winter gloves are troublesome for dexterity. I tend to use thin wool gloves that I wear inside my mittens for anything I need dexterity for. Just pop off the mittens and use my wool gloved hands. I am testing some new gloves this weekend that might be somewhere in the middle however - we will see! :D
@crakilldurmom4 жыл бұрын
I have a different opinion from a different perspective. I'm a ski lift mechanic in Maine. Last winter I found a pair of these gloves in the trail, brand new. For last year they started as my car gloves, for shoveling and whatnot in the car...I liked them. This winter I cycled them out and started using them for work. That means every morning they go on as I hop on my snow mobile at 5am to run around the mountain and get the lifts going. Rain, sleet and, snow as well as turning wrenches and swinging hammers as needed. My needed criteria for my heavy gloves is warmth and dryness...Giver gave me both. I have reapplied waterproofing several times and so far so good. The important difference is I didnt buy them but, I would and will. I'm putting these gloves through extremely hard work and they're holding up. Your needs seem to be different than mine. I'm not so worried about comfort although I have found the dexterity to be better than my Kincos.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Certainly my needs are different and one aspect and keeping your hands warm is working with them! 😉 For warmth I prefer a mitten but as you say, fingered gloves for dexterity. The issue I had with the gloves was the manufacturing and the odd sizes of the fingers and matching. Otherwise the leather was good quality and weatherproofness great! 👍

@CallanChristensen Жыл бұрын
I picked these up after being bombarded on social media and seeing some outdoorsman give a glowing review. Unlike yours, it looks like their quality control has been figured out because the pair I got are perfect, no weird finger lengths, and the grade of leather appears the same for both and they just scream quality. My only complaint is THEY AREN'T WARM. We had some light snow the other week and I was outside for 10 minutes pushing a snowblower around and I came in and my fingers were the coldest I can ever remember and it was about 34F outside (not cold). I think it must be how intentionally tight fitting they are that prevents an insulative air boundary to form. I think I am going to keep them for having a rugged glove for doing outdoor projects if it is chilly out, but I wouldn't recommend them for extreme cold.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors Жыл бұрын
You are exactly right - I found these cold gloves at first as they were tight, but they did stretch and become better. Personally for good dexterity warm gloves check out the Ninja Ice fishing glove for about $20 a pair 👍

BEWARE: If you order these gloves please note that they run small. I am a woman of average stature (for a woman) and when I tried on the men's large they were tight on my hands. I ordered 4 pair for Christmas gifts @ $109/pair. The company does not allow exchanges. You are required to get refunded for your purchase and then order new items. That means...additional shipping costs if your order is smaller. Another thing to note is that there is a $25.00 restocking fee PER PAIR if you order the branded option.

Saying that this is an incidental quirk in the Quality Assurance System is nothing more then an excuse. If anything, it proves that there doesn't even exist a formal quality assurance program. I'd say this pair of gloves has just been grabbed together from different batches, as you suggested saying it looked like they were made by 2 different craftsmen. Which craftsman of some standing would send a pair like this out as proof of his craftmanship? Exactly.

They look like two different leather gloves, actually made by two different companies. You would figure that a company would send their best pair of gloves to you for review. Obviously the person who packed these gloves should have checked them thoroughly. No quality control, no care, no respect for the company he/she works for. Yes we can see that the gloves are of low build quality and paired unsatisfactory. I think the company should let employees go in the quality control section of their company. Just look at it, the left glove looks like a knock off. After watching this review I will not even think twice in ordering a pair nor recommending the company to friends and family. Why take a chance, at $100.00 to $120.00 USD you DEFINITELY can find better elsewhere, no doubt! I really don't think their fix in replacing only the bad left glove was appropriate. They should have sent you a matching new pair. Just in their response to you shows me that they really lack in consumer care. Good honest review Thanks.

Hi Daniel - I'm not sure what they were thinking. I know I'm a small channel but a positive review is still very valuable. I would have sent my best pair of gloves and checked them out twice. And that's why you use leather, but not leather-by-products like these gloves are :( Those so-called "natural leather" products are made of the thin slices of the natural leather threatened with caustics to oppilate external imnpregnating agents like heat, water either sweat. Alas, in high acidity that deteres to the porous organic filter. And you know, stearine _is_ acidic. And only outer layer of the sheepskin, natural ones, pressed and treated with long tanning process involving 2 weeks in potash alumen at room temperature do that treatment. I still use gloving leather-made helmet made in 1943, I've removed the felt pad - there is no reason to expect high-winds with -40C wearing that and head-cushion too - but keeping gimmer-fur inlay, curly one. Well, that's what I call a decent leatherwork. Alas, there aren't a lot around today.

If you had issues why didn't you ask for a replacement. If they sent them to you for review you still could have requested a replacement pair! So your review is worthless! I guess I won't be watching your site again.

I did let them know I had an issue and there is a follow at the end of the video. They did replace the bad glove. So why does that make my review worthless? You would think sending gloves to be reviewed on KZbin someone would have looked over the gloves before sending them.
