We've got SO MUCH junk on this abandoned property that needs to be cleared out! 😳 We managed to clean out our abandoned house, but there's still a lot of junk on the property, so we've enlisted the help of a big 'ol bobcat to whip our land into shape and make it beautiful once more! That is, if we can survive all the bees, scorpions and heat 🥵

Take it from an Arizonan who has been fighting scorpion wars for decades: Get yourself a couple of black lights and a good pest control guy. The exterminator won’t kill the scorpions (they’re armor-plated) but he’ll kill their food so they have to look elsewhere. The black light will help you see them easily at night. They light up like a Vegas strip club under blacklight, then you can squash ‘em.

Absolutely,! The black lite flashlight works just like advertised. I have to hunt them here in Henderson NV and those little boogers light up and can be seen 6 feet away, and I agree best way to rid yourself of them is to kill all the other insects that’s why they are there. Tc from Nv

We just heard about that black light trick! What a random and cool thing 🦂🔦 And we've seen so many billboards for scorpions exterminators in the area, but we had no idea that they just remove the food source... Those little suckers are so dang tricky!

Safety suggestion- when you are carrying stuff in bobcat/skid loader, have the bucket as low to the ground as possible when driving from one place to another. This lowers the center of gravity, and reduces the risk of tipping over. Lifting high at the dumpster is fine, just don’t drive around with bucket up high.

As someone who has tipped one over, I can confirm this is true.

If you can, buy yourselves a sub-compact tractor with a mower and loader. For how large your property is and your grand plans, you will get endless usage out of it. From mowing, to hauling, to digging, to grading -- one small tractor with a handful of attachments will take you a long way. You won't have to rent equipment and you can always sell it later. Look at a John Deere 1025r or a Kubota BX23

We have the John Deere. Ours is 10 years old and since then JD has made some changes. Not all of them are positive. So do your homework. They are an investment; but well worth the money. We even got attachments for gardening. We also got the backhoe and that has helped with trenching when we needed to upgrade our gravel driveway. We use the boxgrater after every winter.

I second the motion of buying the tractor/ front end loader. Also, Spectracide Pro Wasp and Hornet spray has the quickest knockdown time of anything I’ve ever used; it essentially freezes them in place.

Y’all have creative ideas for this land! I’m sure you are on top of it, but as the spouse of someone who works for our city’s codes department, I feel like I have to mention that, just in case you haven’t, you should really go into whatever city or county codes and/or zoning office is there and doublecheck what’s allowed. Do not make plans based on what your realtor said is possible. My husband has unfortunately helped way too many people who either assumed or trusted a real estate agent’s assessment and then went ahead and built a big deck or outbuilding that had to come down because it was in the wrong place or wasn’t allowed by the zoning for their lot. And sometimes what’s there when you bought it was allowed because the structures predated a zoning change, but once you tear them down, you are now reset to fall under the newer zoning. The people who sell property rarely keep on top if the little details with that stuff or fully understand how to check into them-they just want to complete the sale. So talk directly to the people who truly know your local code inside and out before you demolish any structures or build new ones!

Oh my goodness, please be careful!!! I know this doesn’t have a blade like a riding lawnmower, but it can still be dangerous. My 2 years old nephew nearly lost his foot last Friday in a freak accident when a riding lawnmower. He was rushed to the hospital and into the operating room. The surgery lasted 7 hours. He had his second surgery on Sunday, his third on Wednesday and his fourth on Thursday. The surgeons agave cleaned out what they could to avoid infection and to prevent amputation, they’ve reconnected every thing they could, they’ve worked on his destroyed Achilles, and so much more. After the Thursday surgery, the surgeons said they are happy with what they’ve repaired and been able to fix so far. The surgical team is now ready to meet with the plastic surgery team to create the best plan for the next steps. They need to take bone and skin grafts from other parts of his tiny two year old body, so they can try to rebuild his ankle and heel. Something life changing can happen in a split second, so always be as safe and responsible as you can.

Finally put that ford to work hauling a real load. Make that truck feel like a real truck. If you tilt the load forward as you lift it will sit level. With snakes in the area you should use the bucket to move things and load not your hands. Get a few cans of wasp spray and some foaming insulation. Spray the wasps and fill their openings with expanding foam. I was stung by the biggest wasp I have ever seen the other day, my hand looked like a basketball. Hope you guys stay safe and healthy.

I live in Alabama and want to give you guys 2 tips... 1. Do you or can you create a safe burning pit? If so, that's how I get rid of unwanted tree branches, leaves and so forth. 2. you know the lubricant stuff to spray on squeaky joints? that lubricant spray can eliminate wasps and their hive home. P.S. wasps are mostly found under ground, but others can be found just under any shade awnings and edges of houses. Keep an eye for them cuz I have to for my wife's sake.
