In the 1930s somehow a bunch of cowboys managed to get a poker table up on top of balanced rock using ropes and played cards. I have seen the old black and white picture years ago. My Dad was raised in Castleford near where the Balanced Rock campground is. I worked for the world's largest Rainow Trout in Buhl Idaho which is between Hagerman and Twin Falls for 44 years. I agree Rainbow Trout is delicious. Next time you come through Buhl, stop and have Ice Cream at Cloverleaf Creamery. Best Ice cream ever! They still sell their milk in glass bottles. Family ran Operation and they also milk the cows. Great place and the nicest people in the world!

HEY we've been to the EXACT campground! It was beautiful for kayaking along the Snake. When my partner and I stayed, we found a decade old hidden note, in the very last overhang campsite above the benches 😊 Many other travelers had shared their positive encouragement and stories to from their stay. May the chance anybody else see this, know the secret and maybe go search for it yourself! ❤

Coming soon, the road to Utah. Stay out of the mountains because I've heard there's lots of snow and more to come. Clementine looks good and cozy, towing Ruby around. Glad to learn you're warm inside and the generator is powered up. I LOVE your new jacket and the beautiful colors looked good on you. Rocks are falling, is that like a time shifter when it erases your log-in from the 1800's? Hmmm, something to think about. Right? 🤔

I used to live about 12 miles from balanced rock. we would go there pretty regularly. balanced rock was actually vandalized around 1920. someone tried to blow up the base with dynamite, but it didn't go all the way through. it was later repaired. the acoustics in the park are wild.

I live in Oregon and the two of you have made me want to explore my surrounding areas even more! I also have an old rv and I love what you said about people turning around when they see your rig. They will assume it’s crappy inside or criminals. The looks are truly the only defense we truly have. And you two can definitely do a week off the grid! I did it last summer in 100+ degree weather for 8 days. With no air conditioning. River and lakeside camping take care of water needs because I have filters. I don’t use my house battery unless absolutely necessary if I’m stationary. I hate filling up my waste tank because my 1978 rv only has one tank for everything. I mostly potty outside with the animals and put a basin in my sink to catch wastewater that can be tossed. Slowroamer has an old rig in the desert and is never on the grid. I haven’t driven my rv to Utah, but I have a feeling that you two are going to make me wanna change my plans!

It's a gorgeous place you had for the night. I've been to shown falls, and you're right. It is way less than it normally is you can't even imagine Moses. Rocks don't even show there's so much water. But the Snake River is amazing because that entire area from Yellowstone to the Columbia river in this part of Idaho is all watered by this river. That starts just coming out of the ground in yellowstone. So many reservoirs and dams and power stations it waters the entire southern idaho area. So fun watching you go through places i've been, Cause I live in portland oregon. Blessings
