Atmorans, such as Ysgramor, were large and strong enough to wield what would be two-handed weapons for us, with one hand. Ysgramor not only has a seemingly large statue, but has a poleaxe (what Skyrim calls a battleaxe) and a large shield. If we take that sort of scale into consideration, it lends some credence to Giants possibly being some of the first human settlers to come to Skyrim, and perhaps devolved in a sense, loosely akin to what happened to the Falmer.
@stevenhiggins30554 жыл бұрын
The scale of the statues is greatly exaggerated. When you meet him in Sovngarde he's no taller than any other Nord, even though they could have easily set his scale modifier much higher like they did with Tsun. Not to mention that when you repair Wuuthrad, the very same axe he weilds in those statues, it's no larger than any other battle axe in the game.
@blademaster23903 жыл бұрын
@@stevenhiggins3055 true, but he wields it with a shield. We can’t do that.
@PunkZombie13002 жыл бұрын
@@blademaster2390 Ysgramor's statue shows him holding his axe with two hands. It's more likely that he used it in two hands and also had a shield and backup one handed weapon (or his fist, I guess). Though after looking it up to see if he had any other known weapons that just didn't appear it Skyrim, it looks like in ESO his statues depict him with his axe in one hand, though without a shield in his offhand. And one statue shows him holding a different axe in one hand (with only one axe blade rather than two). So maybe he did weild it in one hand, or maybe he had a second one-handed axe we haven't heard of. It's also possible he wielded it in one hand but was just exceptionally strong and not necessarily a giant.

I like to believe that the Skyrim Giants are just scouts. And up in the mountains, the giants have a super sophisticated and technologically advanced society. That’s why the ones that are in Skyrim are so idiotic, they were just sent down to gather materials, and herd cattle. Remember, the Giants were not only intelligent enough to communicate and breed with Nords, but they also had relations with the Dwarves when they were still around. I’m not saying the Giants would be anywhere as intelligent as the Dwarves were, just smarter than Nords, and smart enough to hide from them and thrive while doing it.

Are we gonna talk about giant’s relationship to dwemer? You find one or two giants in blackreach. During a thieves guild or Solstheim quest it’s mentioned that dwarves weren’t small, giants called them dwarves back when giants spoke (so they had some kind of relationship). We also find frost giants and these giants are deep in the mountains. Maybe the giants were evolving into these or were originally first giants? Karstaag was also REALLY smart.

Kirkbride was eluding to the evolution in Nords. Nords once understood Giants because they were more closely related. But after a long separation, the giants came back down from the mountains, and the Nords barely recognized them BECAUSE the Nords had evolved much further beyond them. The Nords, however, had lost their history and just assumed that the giants changed, not them. Also, Lyris Titanborn wasn't huge because someone in her family got freaky with a giant. It's because the ancient Giant DNA manifested in her.
@Martiandawn4 жыл бұрын
The events in Elder Scrolls Online take place 950 years before Skyrim, not "thousands upon thousands" of years earlier. Lyris Titanborn was trapped in Coldharbour for only a few years, not hundreds of years. When you are playing ESO, you encounter many people who were alive when Varen was Emperor and his Companions, including Lyris, were roaming around Tamriel.
@knightshade3d514 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure she was trapped for 3 years. You actually meet the nephew of Varen in the Gold Coast and it hasn’t been all that long since his disappearance occurred with the soul burst in 2E 578 and the game starts originally in 2E 581.
@Martiandawn4 жыл бұрын
@@knightshade3d51 It didn't occur to me to check the date of the soul burst. That pretty much nails down the maximum amount of time that Lyris could have been a prisoner in Coldharbour.

Martian Dawn Unless of course you take into account the fact that if you actually play the game today it’s is now set in 2E 284. So in game 3 years have passed since it initially launched. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was pushed to 2E 285 when Greymoor launches in May/June. So technically if you haven’t done the main story Lyris Titanborn could be trapped there a few more years lol.

@American Restoration Initiative that's a laugh. The Empire lost major territory during the war, and will lose Skyrim, with or without a rekindling of the fight. Besides, even if they did, they still allow the Thalmor to run around taking people for Talos worship, have gone back on their d pool rd to not just Ulfric, but the people of Skyrim in doing do, and forsaken their heritage I'll n the process. The Empire is a weak, pathetic shell of what it once was.
@thehowlinggamer57844 жыл бұрын
@American Restoration Initiative please. The only pawns are the imperial dopes who think the empire is actually going to accomplish anything. They disband the blades, who only get outside help in reforming from someone they were oh so willing to lob the head off of along with every stormcloak with Ulfric without a trial, they signed away the rights and beliefs of Skyrim with the white gold concordat, and simultaneously become the dominion's bitch. The empire is in ruin.
@thehowlinggamer57844 жыл бұрын
@American Restoration Initiative And the fact that the blades were a threat to the Thalmor in the first place, otherwise there's no need in including their disbanding, allowing the Thalmor to hunt them down one by one in the first place. As for talos worship, you do realise that you're just making my point for me, right? Thalmor influence on it equals Empire pawns.
@thehowlinggamer57844 жыл бұрын
@American Restoration Initiative Then it makes no sense to have them disbanded and hunted down if they didn't pose a threat of any kind. Their duty was to protect the emperor after all and find a new one should they fail. Eliminating them one by one and as a whole ensures Thalmor control over the empire. The empire is by every definition a thalmor puppet. Wake up. The Stormcloaks are the only ones capable of defending Skyrim to the fullest.
@TheWhiteDragon34 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, there was some obscure piece of evidence in a book somewhere that implied that Talos of Atmora himself was a giant. That fits in rather nicely with Michael Kirkbride's "fan-fic" that the original giants came from Atmora and were the predecessors of men and modern giants.

About the giants, in Greymoor DLC of ESO, there's a trial in the location Kyne's Aegis. There are "Sea Giants", culturally seems very nordic and with also weapons and skills (dragon totem for example). Also they are pretty inteligent, compared to the giants inland we're used to, they kinda seem like just taller and very stronger nords. Maybe this sketch is kinda canon? For example, Yandir the Butcher. He's very tall, very very strong, has weird creatures he summons with him. There are even some snake-like creatures, which reminds me of Akavir. Giants are like lions, the Bachelors live alone. They will live in the valleys and lowlands raising mammoth herds to prove their worth. Once they have a large enough herd they will take it up into the mountains to the Giant City in order to find a bride. If they do, the mammoths are added to her familiy's herd and he will then join her family and live in the Giant city.

I bet they ate a lot of those mushrooms that made the snow elves primitive and blind, but they only ate them for a few generations so they didn't go toally blind.

Recruiting the giants for the Nords' civil war sounds a heck of a lot more interesting than the quests you actually GET for the civil war. Most of those quests are simply, "Go to this place and capture this fortress." Getting allies like the giants would have been FAR more exciting.

Or even when he scrolls down the script to keep reading. Lol Its the little things that make me appreciate how much work it takes to make one video. Keep up the good work Nate! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻

I'm guessing humans don't come from giants, they rather have a common ancestor, unless the giants are live fossils, but among humanoids it is not very likely.

Damn it Janet.. I’ve been working on something giant related.. and thanks to ESO, which I’ve never played, I’ll have to do some rewrites.. 😂 My theory about Giants is that their wives locked them out when they got involved with the little people wars. (Of course in my wowbagger mod, I implied that the giants in Skyrim were all on a lads weekend away 😂

About Lyris Titanborn, and her father, he is indeed half-giant you(the player) can meet him and hear him say to Lyris that "his seed" was the end of Lyris's mom because of his heritage and he blames himself and ask for forgiveness for been more a teacher, trainer than a father to her. And maybe, just maybe we would learn a bit more about Lyris and her roots in the next ESO's chapter in june. Great vid Nate

Lol, it's the other way around. ESO is several centuries AFTER Skyrim. Which is somewhat explained w/the Elsweyr addition. We ally w/Abnur Tharn to fight the dragons which were released from their prison. In the Greymoor addition coming up in June, we get to ally w/Lyris (pronounced leeriss) again to fight Vampires. Cannot wait. Love your videos, you crack me up.

The giants we see in TESV seem to be acting more or less as shepherds, like, they're out in the fields with animals, they've got small, stone shelters that they can use, they're armed, so as to protect their charges. I've always just figured the shepherds are the only ones we run into and the rest of them live somewhere else.

Is skyrim V worthy to buy ? I don't have any history with this game, I'm very hesitated about buying it.
@Patch21124 жыл бұрын
Enes Kemal It’s definitely worth it, but if I were you I would definitely set aside time to get totally immersed in the game. Play it vanilla, maybe with graphical mods if you want, but don’t add anything to the game. Think about it, Skyrim is almost 10 years old and the gaming community is still fervently playing the game. Without overselling it, Skyrim is amazing and truly a special experience.
