I am waiting for ‘5 things you, probably, didn’t know about Horses’ Edit: Sorry, Forgot to add, ‘in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
@davidfrend4 жыл бұрын
Fun fact about horses: they are the weirdest fucking animals alive. They can't vomit, so if they eat something bad they've just got to deal with it and hope they don't die. They have very little depth perception, but they make up for it by being able to see almost all the way around themselves. Also their blood cells stack on top of one another, which in any other animal would be called Rouleaux formation and would be a sign of significant disease. For horses, that's how their blood cells act normally. Their running speed is directly tied to their breathing rate so if they run too fast, they breathe too hard. If they breathe too hard, their diaphragm can actually cause damage to their internal organs. Honestly, the more my vet friends tell me about horses, the more I'm surprised they've survived this long.

@@MrsTold Cloudy Night is right, but the game itself also makes it clear. When you first go to Whiterun to speak to Balgruuf, he decides to send hold guards to protect Riverwood. There is an argument about that decision because his steward thinks that putting troops in a border town might be viewed by the jarl of Falkreath as a provocation. Also, there is an Imperial presence in Helgen, but Whiterun is neutral in the early part of the story and there is no Imperial garrison anywhere in Whiterun hold. If Helgen were part of Whiterun, Balgruuf would certainly not have let the Imperials occupy the fortifications there at that time. Nor would the Imperials have done so against his will, since they were still trying to persuade Balgruuf to join them willingly and such an act would have antagonized him.

A point for Number 2: Remember when you first come to falkreath and pass the hall of the dead? What’s Runil doing? He’s holding a service for a couple who lost their child. In fact, if you pay attention, you do come in on his left much like he describes in the dream. Well, when the player and Serana walk around Castle Volkihar during a quest to find the back entrance, Serana explains that the previous owners used to receive supplies through there. So, the castle wasn't always Harkon's place, meaning his family and clan could easily have come from Bloodlet Throne in Falkreath. Also, as far as I recall, if you play the basegame without Dawnguard and Dragonborn installed, the stronger vampires in Bloodlet Throne are in fact named Volkihar vampires. So, there you have it. I fell in love with Falkreath very early on in my first ever experience with Skyrim. I'd never played an open-world game like Skyrim before, and when I finished the tutorial and was cast out to fend for myself, I had no idea what I was doing…nor did I notice the compass at the top of the screen. As such, I quickly got lost, and eventually wound up in Falkreath. There, people talked about how the sun shines so rarely in the town - and as someone who HATES sunlight IRL (it just feels unpleasant on my skin, I know I'm a freak but it's just how I am), I liked the place immediately. I then tried to leave Falkreath proper, still not noticing the compass, and somehow ended up doubling back to it at least three times. At one point during that doubling-back, I ran into my ultimate Skyrim husbando, Talsgar the Wanderer - if my username doesn't indicate enough why I was immediately drawn to the character (it's been my username since before I tried Skyrim), I also love music, and of course, the wanderer is a bard. For these reasons, Falkreath is permanently my favorite part of Skyrim. I went SO far out of my way to become a thane in Falkreath so I could live there, and when the vanilla game didn't let me get a house in the hold, I was devastated. Luckily, I'd gotten the ultimate edition with the DLC included, and after some digging, I discovered this and was over the moon, immediately installing the DLCs and happily setting to building an estate for myself by the lake. To this day, no matter what properties I may accrue in Skyrim, Lakeview Manor in Falkreath will always and forever be my only true home in the nation. Funny that it's where the Dark Brotherhood are housed…for my good guy playthrough, I was heartbroken that my home was also home to such monsters, and glad to rid the place of them; and for my asshole playthrough, it's nice that my favorite guild is also stationed in the place I call home. XD

Remember what Runil says about performing services before being approached by someone that can roar. It's literally what you do if you pick up the ashes from Thadgeir usually cutting wood at the entrance of Falkreath. He says Runil needs to perform some last rights for Berit's soul. Then you saunter over to Runil who is - if you are meeting him for the first time - giving a sermon to Mathies and his wife, which I presume is for their daughter that was killed by Sinding. So he is actively involved in two services when you approach hiim. I presume this is what he is experiencing in the dream.

There's evidences pointing to Harkon's family becoming vampires as early as the Merethic Era or the early 1st Era, before any human Empire existed. Serana specifically questions "what Empire" when you awaken her. They are quite likely older than the Bloodlet Throne and unlikely to be related to the Jarl of Falkreath.

There's I'd like to share that could reveal more about the Volkihars. In Volkihar ruins in one room on a tall shelf I found a silver sword. I checked around the ruins for more, but this is the only silver sword in the entire castle. No vampire would use this weapon, it specifically made for fighting undead. I believe it's possible the clan had some conflict with the Silver Hand(or a similar group), in which this single sword was taken as a trophy by one of the vampires.

@@HareDeLune Fudgemuppet, Camelworks, aye, I have. Thank you for the heads up on Lady of Scrolls. Had no idea about that one. I originally came into TES lore with the Lore Series from Shottycast. Just been out of the loop. I love this channel though. The narration has that "It's night already and I'm staying up until dawn" kind of feel to it whereas Shottycast is used to sleep to.

@@Blaskotrain I miss Shoddycast sometimes. I enjoyed how they made screenshots from the game into artwork that resembled storybook illustrations to go with the videos. Lady of Scrolls uses some nice art, as well, but it's not the same. : ) Edit: I discovered TES lore from reading books in-game, then through the UESP Wiki. en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page

@@HareDeLune yeah- I know what you're talking about. That painting looking overlay they used. I liked it too. I really liked the original narrator but I loved it when they brought in that older Deckard Cain guy for season 2. I didn't mean anything bad or negative by saying it was to sleep to. It was just more laid back. If you know of any other quality TES content creators, let me know.
@HareDeLune4 жыл бұрын
@@Blaskotrain Alright, I can think of a few others, then it's off to bed for me. If you love great roleplaying and storytelling, there are two guys you don't want to miss. Gopher, who has done Let's Play's of Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 3. He plays some other games as well, and also has a channel called Gopher Live, where he posts livestreams of himself and friends playing various games. Gopher is also a modder and mod author. He is a natural actor and absolute hardcore roleplayer. His videos often have parts that are hilarious and brilliant. Beloved characters he has played include Jack from the Fallout New Vegas series, Richard from Skyrim, and the current character Leonard, also from Skyrim. m.kzbin.info He also has a website where you can search his videos: www.gophersvids.com Couch Warrior (or Couch WarriorTV) AKA Stu King, is a fantastic story teller. Although I have only watched a few of his playthroughs, they were all good. The original St. Billy series from Fallout 4 (not the livestreams) was superb, and even moved me emotionally. Yes, *that* from Fallout 4! Unbelievable! For Skyrim, you can't go wrong with The Passage, about a veteran Altmer being forced to be an agent for the Thalmor against his will. Stu also has a website and podcast called Character Crusade where he and others discuss roleplaying and storytelling in games like Skyrim, and how you can do it better and more effectively in your game. m.kzbin.info www.charactercrusade.com/#storyteller If you want silly and sometimes hilarious, then I recommend Koubitz. She mostly livestreams on Twitch and posts highlights on her YT channel. She doesn't post regularly, but some of her stuff is hilarious, if you don't mind her voice, personality, and style. She also has some excellent mod recommendation videos. m.kzbin.info Nukazooka has some flat-out amazing live action game-based videos. Check out The Double Jump, Skyrim vs. Fallout, and Sneaking in Skyrim for starters (may not be exact titles). I don't keep up with them like I should, but there are only so many hours, you know? m.kzbin.info If you want quality opinions, information, lore, alternate takes on how the TES games could have been, and other Über-nerdery, as well as early TES titles gameplay, check out Zaric Zhakaron. m.kzbin.info Finally, if you like to play Skyrim with mods, and need some good tutorials, there are three people of note: Gopher (from above), Dirty Weasel Media, and Gamerpoets. All of them have produced top notch modding guides. m.kzbin.info m.kzbin.info One last thing. Another good site for TES lore is The Imperial Library: www.imperial-library.info/ Hope you enjoy! : D

Nate, I have two small details I havent seen covered in a video yet! 1st, there’s a Nord NPC in Whiterun named Sigurd who works for Belethor’s store, spending time chopping wood outside of it near the market. This is the very same name as the legendary Dragon Slayer in Norse mythology who killed the immortal dragon Fafnir. Considering the setting of Skyrim, it’s nice to think that there could be another great hero in the making. 2nd, this is more of a glitch I discovered 5 years ago while playing Skyrim. But for the Whirlwind Sprint and Fire Breath shout, you can basically learn two words of power in High Hrothgar and the Throat of the World. Paarthunax and he Greybeards give you the starting words to the two indicated shouts. But if you have some spare Dragon Souls, you can pull a little trick. After they show you the word, you have a few seconds before they give you their understanding of it. In this time, use the Dragon Souls to unlock the shouts. They will still give you their understanding of it, but they will instead teach you the next word. So you basically get two words of power for free and a more powerful shout than you would expect from the start of the game. Edit: Make that 3, just learned this one a minute ago. After Diplomatic Immunity, Delphine directs you to Brynjolf in order to find Esbern. This is often how most people first get to Riften and meet the Thieves Guild. But if you’re already in the Thieves Guild, there’s a slight change in Delphine’s dialogue and she tells you to ask around the Ragged Flaggon instead.

Falkreath is so overlooked and underused in the base game, that back when I first played Skyrim before I had all the DLC's, I accidentally left Shadowmere in the graveyard at Falkreath, and at some point mounted another horse making it my primary steed. So Shadowmere just kinda stayed at that graveyard for like 50+ hours of gameplay and I completely forget about him and where I left him. I assumed he died. In 50+ hours of gameplay, I failed to visit Falkreath so much, that I never discovered him just standing there. With the DLCs, on my last few playthroughs, Lakeview Manor was my favourite homestead, so Falkreath became a hold I visited often. I stopped fast-travelling, so if I ever got a carriage, it was always to Falkreath, and the towns merchants were always my first stop for all my crafted loot Now I've moved my favourite manor to Windstad for something fresh and it's beautiful aurora's, I don't visit Falkreath as much anymore. Only when I get a carriage to the town to visit the dark brotherhood sanctuary
