your tweet is so amazing and it's such a shame that johnson wont listen to it. """professional""" track and field athletes will continue to get paid less than high school track stars with NIL DEALS. MAYBE the professional tennis players association will save track and field

Another problem is he has to sign up big names but they have to have competition. He signed SML but if Femke Bol doesn't sign up and her coach or manager or someone came out and said they probably will not, then what is SML going to do? Run around the track against no names until she runs a record like she does now? What new fan is going to pay to see this? Plus his league is going to look stupid if he has the big names signed up and the world records fall elsewhere and that's predictable because in T&F someone always breaks through or comes out of nowhere with amazing times. I don't know what the solution is but betting on regular meets has been suggested before. In Australia we have an athletics meet called the Stawell Gift that's basically a betting meet, bookies used to be onsite, it's run on a grass track and athletes are handicapped.

I'm not confident about it. Like you pointed out, it's just a pig with different color lipstick. It also reminds of Jay-Z's deal with the Barclay's Center and how he lobbied BK hard to build the arena...bragged about being the owner...come to find out that he's a minority stakeholder with little power. Similar situation here with Johnson. He's just the face. No real power Also the pre-marketing sucks. He's just on twitter pointing the finger at the obvious problems and says he has the solution. No one cares. All we care about is if the events wil actually pop..be fun to watch and talk about. That's all. They're so technical about it. What do you think about Gabby Thomas's upcoming track meet? The 776 Invite. .

Sports betting leads to corruption and fixes. It's becoming more and more apparent in other sports. Track crowds tend to be pretty polite. That might change if you have a bunch of belligerent drunks who just lost a bunch of money on a race. 🤣🤣. Interesting ideas though. I would not be excited to pay another streaming service to watch track. It's nice to be able to pull it up on Peacock.

thoughts on a track version of fantasy football? would it work?
@ryanladd29474 ай бұрын
Nah it wouldn’t, some people on this sport are allergic to competing. A dynasty style league that’s based off peoples world athletic score (or something similar) might work, but you’d be in it for the long haul.

Can't people be bet on like horses? That system is time tested and swear old timey British milers got bet on like that in the 1920s, which I actually think created the amateur rule for Olympics because it caused one person to be favored too heavily until it got repealed after Prefontaine

Johnson is trying to create a professional atmosphere. Who's to say he won't have beer at the races. Who's to say they won't have some form of sports betting? Especially if his model is World Athletics. As long as he remains the majority stake in his company , he'll be fine. And the current track setup is exactly why they don't have stars. The branding, the exposure, is all off. We only hear about them when it's Olympic time. So keeping them in the public eye will in fact help the sport grow. Yeah you are a hater!!!! Because they are coming for that $100,000 per race .
